Great lid...but...

UPDATE: November 2015 I've been using this lid with the Slim Jim trash can for more than a year now. The lid is still tight fitting but I have found a secret to getting it off a bit more easily. Grab the back by the hinges and pull up and to the side then you can pull the front up and off very easily. It sounds like it's going to break but it hasn't so far! I change the bag at least once a week. Love it now that I can take it off. End of update: This is a great lid. It is very, very well made. The hinges seem to be super heavy duty. I really like that I can swing this lid all the way open and to the back of the Slim Jim trash can. Much better than a pop up lid. Now to the "...but..." this lid has a super tight grip on the can which is great for keeping the bag in place and for not falling off if the can should get knocked over for any reason but, it is hard to get off for changing the bag. Maybe there is a secret that I am unaware of, I just know that every time I try to get this lid off it is a struggle. I thought I found a trick but it didn't work for me this week. That being said, I would buy this lid again. It does a good job of keeping trash odors in and keeping the bag in place. One other thing, the measurements in the descriptions seemed confusing when compared to the measurements of the Slim Jim can, I called Rubbermaid, they assured me that this was the correct lid. The lid fits to the outer edges of the Slim Jim. It also has 2 half circles that go on the inside of the can to help keep it in place (you can see one of them in the picture.)

Should have bought this years ago!

Bought this Rubbermaid lid for my hyper tough branded 23 gallon tall trashcan which did not come with a lid when I bought it at the store. Had been using cardboard or a thin piece of wood to cover the trash can when it was ripe. This lid is not exactly meant to fit however the measurements are very close. All I had to was modify my trashcan by cutting down a bit off one corner and the lid fits and functions perfectly. Much better alternative to trying to make my own lid.

I have a real problem with this rating

See I got the matchimg waste can as well and think its the best thing since potato chips...BUT as I was anxious to connect it to the top that I ended up cracking the top on the longer sides of it. SNAP. Needless to say I was freaking the hell out (all things being relative). I could have returned it blah blah blah but I'm the one who broke it favor honesty so I ate it. I didnt think I gorillad' the thing but I reccomend that you assemble it little bu little around the container. Snapping it on... well...snapped it? Either that or it sucks but then again it is rubbermaid which is pretty good stuff. See? tough rating so I still gave it a 4 to be fair

Yes, it would be nice if it was a few bucks less, but my condo regs say I have to have a lid on the garbage can. This one does fit the Rubbermaid Slim Jim perfectly.

Worth The Price

I can’t believe it but it’s actually worth the price. This is a well-made two piece lid. One piece sits on the rim of the container and is connected to the other piece via a hinge. Top notch. I never thought I’d write a positive review of a lid that cost more than the trashcan but they did a good job on this one.

expensive but useful

I thought this seemed kind of expensive for what it is, but it does make me like my slim jim trash can even more. This lid keeps the bag from shifting or falling into the can, which is great & the lid can either hide the trash from sight, or fold completely out of the way, while still securing the bag. I'm really glad I bought this lid, but I took off one star due to the expense, $32 for a plastic trash can lid just seems high to me.

A bit spendy; but excellent fit, form, and function for the Slim Jim trashcan

We purchased a 'scratch and dent' copy from Amazon Warehouse at a considerable discount. The lid is sturdy, sits firmly in place when in use, and is easily removed and re-installed. It sits on top of the trashcan liner, so it must be removed and re-installed with each change of the liner. If your can liner is only a few inches larger than the can, this lid will also hold the liner firmly in place.

Perfect fit for Rubbermaid Slim Jim bin

Just what we wanted to go with our slim Jim bin. Lid is obviously made to fit these but not well publicised. Nor is it sold with them as a whole bin solution. Anyway, we got it and it's perfect.

Serves its purpose well

Like the ease of opening the lid, however it’s extremely difficult to pry the whole thing off when you replace bags!!! Fits on the can very tightly and I wrestle with it every time I change the bag!
