Very, very basic STEM force & motion activities.
Needs parental or teacher involvement to understand all the different activities being demonstrated in pamphlet. (Example: See photo: smooth surface vs. bumpy/rough surface) Many activities. Each activity is another STEM action. No batteries needed.

Great gift
I love it & my 3 year old loves it. I initially thought he would take up with the cars more, but he loves the "wrecking ball" and knocking the blocks over. I'll definitely purchase more from learning resources in the future.

Love this cool "toy" for my 4 year old
My son is 4 years old and we just love this "toy". I Adapt the wording on the experiment cards to match his understanding and then we explore the different ways gravity and motion effect objects. After only the first 6 experiments, he's talking about "gravity" on a daily basis. Really cool

Very helpful at introducing young children to some of the concepts of science, technology, engineering and maths.
This is another good product from Learning Resources who are very well known for producing good quality educational games and toys for young children. This 'Force and Motion Activity Set' is the perfect introduction for children to STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) Perfect for children aged five and above. Inside the box are the following … • Pendulum with frame • Plastic trellis (lime green) • Two plastic tracks each with a different texture (pink and blue) • Two miniature cars (yellow and blue) • Two weighted blocks (blue and pink) • Ten activity cards All of the pieces in this set have been made using good quality materials and each item is brightly coloured. My nephew aged five has been having great fun designing and 'engineering' some excellent experiments using the guides. He has made pendulums and other pieces using great ingenuity. This set will really help a child understand gravity, inertia and friction. I think this is a must have educational toy for most girls and boys whilst still in the early years of primary school and it could certainly give them a little understanding in the concepts of engineering and force and motion technology.

Force and Motion Activity Set
Suitable for age 5+, this force and motion activity set may be more suited to use in primary school but would be an excellent resource at home for any child who has an interest in science. The kit allows you to do several experiments and activities exploring force and motion and includes - tracks x2, cars x2, blocks x4, pendulum, activity cards and support material (a guidance booklet which includes sheets for writing observations / results). There are ten activity cards, each card poses a question or problem on one side and has an experiment on the other side of the card which examines the problem. There are also extensions to the experiments which lead into science, art & technology and maths. It does say in the guidance that the cards are intended to be read by an adult and that children will need direction and guidance during the experiment/activity. I think children will get an awful lot out of this set (if you follow all of the experiments and extensions there's probably weeks worth of stuff to do here) and at the current price of 12.00, this is an absolute bargain. The key concepts explored in the set - energy, force, friction, gravity, inclined plane, motion, push, pull and weight - are defined in the activity guide, but I think you do need to have a little confidence in your own scientific ability and ability to explain the concepts as I think this kit will lead to lots of "Why?" questions and there are no specific answers given in the guidance booklet. I work as a science technician in secondary education and some of the basic concepts introduced in this set will come up at KS3 and KS4 in a more complex form. Overall - I think this is a really good kit, which will get your child thinking and asking why in a fun way.
