Very useful
We must like this - because we have 6 of them. We live in an old house with several different heat sources, heat pump with propane backup, wood stove, and every room is wired for 220. They let us heat just the rooms we're in if we want. The deal with 220 is that it's safer than 110 because the element doesn't glow dangerously which can start fires. We're far enough out that no one would respond to a house fire in time so we're sensitive about safety. This heater is small, directable, thermostatic, can use fan alone, cord is thick. Could be quieter but 220s move more air at lower temp than 110. This is quieter than our "garage" type 220s. I'm not sure how many years we've had the first one but they're all still working. You can't really set a specific temperature but it does turn on and off to maintain the dial setting. Great unit.

Bad customer service so far.
I’ve went through several of these units. When there working it’s a good heater. The problem is they just don’t last.I ordered a bran new one from EBay and right out the box it wouldn’t work.Took it to an electrician and found out it has a bad part.I have been trying to contact the company and thus far all I get is a voice mail for them.I’ve left them several messages and still no return call.Just need a part.Buyer beware.

Purchased for emergency back-up
I have owned this model for about 7 years. I use it for pre/post-oil furnace heat inside my home. It produces a lot of heat. I decided to install another 240-volt outlet and purchase another back-up heater. It arrived yesterday and I turned it on inside my home for about 6 hours and it heated my home beautifully. I only use this inside my home for emergency heat or those times when my oil furnace is turned off. This unit vibrates unlike its twin brother. Another issue I found was the temperature knob doesn't work as well as my older model even though they are exactly the same. Both are reasons for my 4 star rating.

A porrly built fan and a horrible warranty
I have an old house built in 1928 with 220V outlets wired in which are used to drive space heaters as a primary heat source (can get expensive!). I have mainly used the PT268 heaters until this year, but am tired of their declining quality and increasingly shorter lifespans (shaft shudder keeps getting worse, fan rattle starts second season, unreliable by year three or four). This is a definite step up with a stronger fan, the tradeoff being that you can't get your legs as warm on those chilly Saturday mornings as the increased flow reduces effective temperature a bit. On the flip side, if you have separated spaces (doorways, halls, etc), the extra circulation helps retain consistency. Thermostat is adequate once set (to a balmy 63 degrees) and the noise level is acceptable; it's a fan guys, but relatively quiet one. There is a wee bit of initial fan rattle, but no shaft shudder from poor tolerances as with the last two PT268's purchased and the casing doesn't vibrate. The unit did arrive with some of the front plastic fins damaged, as with other reviews I think the factory could use a bit better quality control in production and packing. Overall I am quite happy with this so far, the real test being a winter's use and still forthcoming. If you can live with the price difference, your living space in the 60's and a mediocre hiney warming experience in the morning, it's one of the better 220V space heaters around. Might ceiling mount one in my garage next year if it continues to perform well. =====>> UPDATE Wow, I had such high hopes or this. It is less than two months old now, the shaft has developed a whine from time to time and about 30 seconds in the fan rattles like it's going to die and then calms down to rattling away. When I went to look into an exchange, the return window is closed. 30 day warranty on a $200 heater? Like anyone I base purchases on good reviews, but my own advice is to stay away from this heater, don't take a chance, and don't order anything from Professional Grade Products. 220 options are limited but they can be found.

Great option for a garage
I bought this heater to warm my three car tandem garage, as the pipes above the garage (on the first floor of my house) froze in a cold snap in December, as did several cases of water and sodas in the garage itself. I had considered a Fahrenheat ceiling-mounted heater, but wanted something more portable. I am very happy with my choice. When it arrived (and after I had a sub-panel and outlet installed for it), I plugged it in and it started warming right away. Do not expect a blast of molten-hot air. However, this heater will warm my garage in about three hours from 40F to about 60F (pointing it towards my garage doors, a trick another poster suggested) on the 13,652 BTU setting. It is not too loud and can be adjusted for heat (dial) and fan strength (switch). I now cant wait for another cold snap! I would definitely suggest this fan for those looking for a garage/workshop heater. While I use this as a portable heater (within the 6 foot range of the cord - wished it was a bit longer), it can be mounted to the ceiling.

FANTASTIC HEATER!
This heater met and exceeded my expectations!! I didn't realize when I ordered it that it was only meant to heat 400 square feet. I have a room that is 867 square feet and this heater works great!!!! It has a thermostat which is fantastic so it does not run all of the time and easy to figure out where to set thermostat for the desired room temperature. The room we are heating has new windows and also has been insulated well. There are no heat ducts to this room so this heater is doing all of the work. It is a room above garage that is not heated but now we can use it during the winter too. I can't say enough good things about this heater. It runs quiet which is nice so we can watch TV in this room. Worth every penny!

No Fan
First one went missing when being shipped. Amazon promptly shipped another, good on them. So I finally finished wiring a dedicated 20A/240V circuit for this in the garage only to plug it in and realize that the thing was shipped without a fan blade and is now past it's return date. What The Hell! I'd give it a zero if I could. Now I'll have to go hunting high and low for a part to repair a brand new item at my own expense. Buyer beware of junk, there's clearly a QA problem with the manufacturer.
