Fun on a budget!
I ordered this for my wife to try (she has small hands). It matches her pink bow! This “Allen Compact Thumb Activated Archery Release” is listed as a “youth” model, but I also ordered a black one from another retailer for myself that wasn’t listed as a “youth” model… but they both look and feel the same to me. They both seem fine for adults too! I like shooting with this because I like to shoot with calipers, with fingers (with and without a tab), and with the thumb release… just to keep it interesting and broaden my shooting experience. I prefer calipers for accuracy and anchor position, but this is fun too. I love the grip that it gives! It’s like having nice grippy handle on your string! I believe that the biggest reason for any poor reviews is that people are trying to make this work with a D-loop. It isn’t made for that, and it will only irritate you if you try to use it that way. This is intended to be placed directly on the serving on your bowstring. It goes on easily that way and the design shouldn’t cause wear on the serving. Just use your bow hand index finger to gently hold the arrow in place as you clip the release on the string, otherwise the arrow may pop forward when the release clips on the string and the arrow may come un-nocked and fall off. Also, never trust ANY mechanical release, regardless of price! NEVER draw back the bow unless you are aiming directly at the target and are ready to shoot.

Junk. Broken on arrival.
Got it for my son's bear youth bow which maxes out at 15 pounds draw weight. This thing wouldn't hold long enough to reach full draw. I ordered too far in advance of his birthday, missed the return window. Can only throw it in the trash.

and this makes it easy for him
Bought this for my 6-year old rising Tiger Cub Scout to use at summer camp. He isn't strong enough to pull back the bow string with his little fingers, and this makes it easy for him. Table the bow, knock the arrow under the brass ring, push the bow trigger on the string below the arrow (not above, as pictured), pull back using full finger strength (not just the tips of your fingers), press release with thumb....and you will get perfect arrow flight every time! I used it with no problem as well. Note: I am 5'6" and have small hands; people with large to extra-large hands might have trouble holding it, but small-to-medium hands--including my six-year-old's hands--work fine. Build quality is solid, and trigger action is smooth. Worth every penny!

Hard to use
Good grip and release, but trying to get it on the string is a pain. Got this for my 7 year old and she just can't do it. It was hard for me too. The button is sensitive so you have to be careful to keep your thumb well clear when drawing.

Cheaply made but works great
Recently purchased to use with a razor edge compound bow. Chose this release because of price, holding it you can definately tell its all plastic and feels very cheap. I have used it about 20 times so far with a 60 lbs draw and works great. I would definately recommend this product to anyone.

Works great
Got this for my daughter and works great, esp for the price. It does work on a d loop but not as easy as a trigger type. You have to push it onto the string to "cock" it and the release is done with your thumb. Not as smooth and easy as a trigger kind for $20+, but esp for kids this saves their fingers and will improve their accuracy dramatically.

Tru-fire patriot and patriot Jr. are in nearly the same price range, and they completely blow this away in terms of quality and utility. A bow release should allow the user to fire without holding tension in their hand. (Meaning, it should have a hair trigger among other things.) This has a very stiff trigger with a long pull before the arrow fires. And, the string holding mechanism doesn't rotate. So it can require an unnatural arm position for some shooters.

I prefer this style release over the trigger. when I was a wee child I was pulling my bow back with a trigger release and accidently hit it while drawing and broke my nose with my own fist. ever since then I use these releases only downside is they wont grab in the eye loop on your string but I haven't noticed any loss of accuracy from attaching under the arrow knock

Not a good buy at all
This product is cheap and doesn't attach to a D-ring. I wouldn't trust putting the strain of a bowstring on this device, could cause injury or destroy your bow.
