Be forewarned, "extra firm" means absolutely no "give"

Be forewarned, that when they say "extra firm", this roller has no give". The good news is it is unlikely to lose shape. Bad news is that its is painful to use.

Made for a man

Too high in circumference, too much space between shoulder blades. Very uncomfortable when in pain. You need something more adjustable.

Heavy duty. Well worth the money.

I purchased this because my cheap Walmart roller would collapse under my weight. I found this one while looking for a stronger, more durable roller. Has not disappointed. My kids have even stood on it trying to balance and it hasn't become deformed. It still maintains its round shape. Would definitely purchase again, should it disappear, or become damaged from the kid's rough play.

Excellent for weight lifters and runners

I was told by my personal trainer when I began seriously working out about 2-years ago that I should purchase an inexpensive foam roller. I was later told by experienced distance runners, when I was preparing for my first 1/2 marathon, to ensure that I owned a foam roller to roll out my legs after long runs. These lightweight items are truly essential for working out tired muscles or muscle knots. Although some people will probably think they don't need one; if you challenge yourself with your workouts, you will eventually need to use one or you will struggle unnecessarily with muscle knots and pain for weeks without one (trust me....I've stubbornly been there). There are many types of rollers on the market. Some are slightly softer than others and some have ridges. I also own a roller that has handles to grip; it is a lot more slender and has rotating cylinders on it. It's great for my legs but pretty much useless for my back. This roller is very simplistic; it is very hard and dense which I like. It does not arrive with a pamphlet to show you how to use the roller so if you are unfamiliar with what to do with them, you can simply look online or talk with a trainer at your gym (they are easy to use - you generally use your body weight as pressure as you roll this device over your targeted muscles). Although I prefer my handheld roller for my legs because I can use it even while sitting on a chair and I don't have to get on the floor, this type of roller is excellent for my back. You will not feel comfortable when you are rolling out tired and overworked muscles that have knots. I equate it to the feeling of a deep tissue massage and frankly, I've sometimes had tears in my eyes when I'm working out a muscle knot but the results afterwards are worth the discomfort. I find that I recover from a workout a lot faster when I use a roam roller than when I do not. Lastly, this foam roller is very affordable. Yes, you can buy a fancier roller that looks nicer and cost more but I really believe that you will find that they all basically feel the same. This one is perfect - I have no complaints.
