Renogy BM-10W was DOA - better options available
OK - so I got a defective Renogy BM-10W unit. Was able to get a live tech support person on the phone without any wait time - so good for Renogy for having tech support available. Confirmed the testing process I was using was good and that it should be charging the connected battery - and it was not. The unit has no external indication of it functioning or not - so unless you connect a meter to monitor charging, only indication you will have is if a battery is or is not charged over time. Confirmed with Renogy tech support that the BM-10W panel does NOT have any weather/water protection rating despite some Q&A posts that say it is weatherproof. So can not leave the panel unprotected outside. Got a different unit to replace and it was much nicer build quality, heavier plug molds and 16ga wires on the accessories, and the panel is rated IPX65 to be able to leave exposed if needed. AND this other alternative unit was less expensive than the Renogy. So maybe have a look at the Allto Solar product (B09WMFBPC4) as a better alternative option.

Nothing to indicate it's working...but I added one and it is!
I bought this to keep the battery and an infrequently used vehicle from getting discharged while it is not being used. I suspect it will be great since it seems well made. However, after hooking it up and stepping back I asked myself "but is it doing anything?". Not the brightest of days, so I was curious. There is in fact no built-in indicator that says it is doing anything. So I've purchased a little ammeter that I will hook up inline so that I can visually check periodically to confirm it is working, and to learn how much sun it takes to make it work, and how much it charges when it does get full sun. So just over 1 year and I go to start my car and find the battery dead. After recharging the battery, it turns out it wasn't the battery, but the charger that died. Renogy has agreed that it's dead, but so far i sticking to "but you didn't prove it was dead within the 1 year warranty" even though it probably took at least the two months beyond the warranty for the battery (optima yellow top) to get drained. So no warranty replacement, no refund. I'll update this if I do get a better response from Renogy eventually, but I'm very close to just being done with all Renogy solar and going with Zamp. I'm also trying Sunapex products which seem to be working. I will update this review, either up or down, based on what I learn. April 2021 Update I was able to add an inline 0-1Amp analog meter, and found I really did need a South facing windshield. The SW facing side windows partially/mostly behind trees just wouldn't cut it. But now in a different (central Ohio) location facing directly south, I do get consistent charging. I had to jump start the Van to move it TO this new location. I was a little concerned that the short drive to the storage lot would not charge the battery enough. I went back a month (or was it two?) later and the Van started just fine. At the time it was a pretty cloudy day and the meter was showing 0.05Amps, or about a half of a watt. I was surprised that it was charging at all given the cloud cover. So I'm happy, but still wish it had it's own indicator....

Solar Trickle for my coach batteries
Bought product to provide a solar trickle charge to my RV coach batteries when in storage. It is placed on an interior window of the RV so I have testimony as to its water resistance. But it did immediately bring up the voltage on my coach batteries, so I am pleased.

Renogy 10 Watt solar charger has a smart charge controller built-in.
I installed the Renogy 10 watt solar charger on my truck Feb 5th. The weather over the past ten days has seen a storm, but with a stretch of 3 sunny days, partly sunny/cloudy other days. Temperatures have averaged about 30° according to wunderground.com (mostly colder). I decided to excercise the truck on the 12th. The fuel pump finished its initial boost in less than a second and the engine started much quicker than it had been without regular trickle charging. All indicating to me that the solar panel was doing its job, keeping the battery topped up with sufficient charge. My experience with other solar panels has shown they will make some power even on cloudy days, enough to keep putting some power into the battery.

Buyer beware - junk.
Okay, I had high hopes for this item. First of all, there is no status light to show you that the item is working, I bet many of the reviewers don't even realize their product does not work. How might I know this, you ask? I tested the voltage output with a digital multimeter (DMM) and found it put out zero volts. Now before I hear that I didn't contact Renogy and give them a chance to resolve the matter, I did. I called them and repeatedly sat on their phone queue to be hung up on. When trying to reach them by phone they clearly state they need to get a new phone system - not a joke. After many days of calling, I got a person on the phone. He told me that before they would accept a return I need to take pictures of the product and show that it has no voltage output. Ask yourself how many people have a DMM to show the voltage out - I would bet 50% of their customers do not. He confirmed to me that the product didn't work, and he took my email, order number and contact details and promised a speedy return. After two weeks - nothing. I tried calling again over many days and no answer. Before I clicked the Amazon return button, I opened a case in their Salesforce contact system and after a week, no contact as promised. I feel that 1-star is justified for this item - it's honestly a great idea. Sadly, the company behind the product is horrible and the product didn't work. Please don't put yourself through the headache I created by ordering this product. Look elsewhere......

Faulty. Did not output any voltage
After using it for 2 weeks I saw no noticable increase in battery voltage so checked the output of the charger with a multimeter showing zero volts in full sun. May just be a one off but disappointing, should have better quality control.
