I was sold a 5 year old seatpost.
Unfortunately this retailer sold me a seat post that was sitting on the shelf for 4 to 5 years. On delivery I installed it on my new fat bike and never could get it to work right. Crankbrothers customer service was very good and sent me a new spring as they said that was old and would not function properly. The spring came with a new jag wire cable. On installing, It worked for several rides and then again would not function properly. Upon contacting customer service, I was told that I could either replace the cartridge or they would upgraded to a highline 7. For $150. I'm going to go with replacing the cartridge as $ 150 is outside my ability at the moment. All in all it's been very frustrating. So my review of this is as much about the seller as it was about the manufacturer. I still think crankbrothers is an excellent company and they have good customer service. Things like this can't just sit on the shelf for years and it'd be expected to work properly. If I had known better I would have just returned it but shortly after received it. I went to Mexico for 4 months and it wasn't possible. It's now several years later and still dealing with intermittent issues. I need to get a new cable and replace the internals. When it works it works great. But then it doesn't. Very irritating to ride with a seat that won't stay up ..

Crank Brothers Redemption
In my opinion, this is one of the best value droppers out there. I've been a big fan of Crank Brothers for a long time. My research showed that their previous dropper was a pile, but they seem to have learned their lesson. After a couple months of running time, I'm very happy with it. I think that the best configuration for a dropper is a cable-actuated hydraulic piston with infinite adjustability. When compared to hydraulically-actuated droppers (like the Rockshox Reverb) the installation is much simpler since you don't have to bleed the line. This also happens to be about 60% the cost of the Reverb (whose cost makes me wonder why anybody buys it). For a long time before buying this I had been dead set that I was going to buy the Fox Transfer (Performance Model). When I was about to buy it I found that I could get this one here on Amazon for a fair amount less than the Transfer. The cheaper price and my previous experience with Crank Brothers were the reasons I didn't buy the Transfer. Fox components are extremely high quality and my experience with their suspension components made me want the seatpost. When I bought the Highline, I still felt like I was taking a chance, but it has paid off. I particularly like the actuator. It's got that unique swivel mount that allows you to really tweak the installation. I really needed that since I'm still running a 2x10 setup and I didn't want to have the actuator on top of the handlebar. I have it mounted behind the handlebar so the actuator is just above the front shifter. Go ahead and pick it up. Great value, great performance. (Remember, internal cable routing only. Make sure your bike is set up for it.)

So far so good. It does require a fair amount of force ...
So far so good. It does require a moderate amount of force to active the seatpost lever. I mounted the lever on the left side and maybe my thumb isn't super strong but it requires much more force than a shifter. I didn't really about this much but it makes sense since there's more friction than in a hydraulic line. In comparison, my rockshox hydraulic lockout is super easy to activate. It's pretty much a snap to install. Find the video on youtube by crankbrothers, which is way better than the instructions. Be careful when cutting the cable and make sure not to cut it too short on the lever. When I cut the cable (with Pedros cable cutters), it immediately flared and unraveled. It was a huge pain to get the cable end cap over the wires and compress but I finally managed somehow. I recommend measuring the length from the seat collar to the rails on the old seatpost before removing so you can get it just right. I mounted the lever on the left side even though the routing on my frame runs down the left side. This makes for a somewhat awkward bend but it's completely doable and did not stress the cable housing. If you are running 1x they you probably have better options and the lever is very well designed so lots of mounting options. The most common complaint I read about this post was the speed seat release. I haven't noticed this to be a problem at all. Every time I release the seat is has returned by the time I sit down

Simply Great! Love this dropper
I've really enjoyed this dropper seatpost. I ordered the 125mm drop size, and it is plenty of travel for me (I'm 6'1" riding a Large framed Santa Cruz Bronson). I could have ordered the 160, but it would have left no room to slide the bottom half down, should I want to adjust it down. I should disclose that this is my first dropper post, and had only went biking with a friend's KS dropper once. I wanted a reliable dropper that would be easy to maintain and durable for the long term. I ended up choosing this one because it uses an internally sealed cartridge for the spring action. I liked the internally sealed cartridge because it seemed easier for a home mechanic to replace it themselves (should it go bad), without sending it in to the factory for fixing. I was considering the X-Fusion Manic, Giant Contact SL Switch, and the E13 TRS+ Dropper. Crank Brothers seem to have a good track record with the quality of their products, so I went with them. I also liked this the best because the dropper lever (included) could be setup in many ways - left, right, or under or over the handlebars. My second pick is the E13TRS+, because it is all mechanical and uses a metal coil spring. They just didn't have the 125mm travel option at the time that I wanted. The only downside with the E13 TRS+ is that it only has 4 positions, instead of infinite adjustment like the Highline has. The 3 year warranty was also a big selling point for me.

Great dropper
This is a quality dropper post. The action is smooth, sleek it doesn’t return too fast and launch your testicles into your eye sockets. ????

So far, so good
I'm using it with a OneUp lever. Works nicely so far. Fairly smooth and not too slow. Overall build quality seems decent - not quite as nice as the PNW Rainier but still good. It returns a bit faster than the Rainier. The head of the cable enters at the bottom of the post and crimps at the lever, which is way easier to set up than posts with the cable the other way around. These are supposed to be reliable, so hopefully it continues to work well for a long time.
