Gets the job done
Bought product to use during a parade, and it gets the job done, but it doesn’t have a lot of volume options and the voice came across very faint

Loud, clear, and perfect for protest chants!
This megaphone has excellent volume control and is light enough to carry around while pulling your local protest snack wagon, which means it has my stamp of approval. I did nearly scare half a march to death when I accidentally pressed the alarm button and made everyone think the police were coming. I recommend you put some tape over that one before taking your megaphone out to protests. Also, don't forget to buy some batteries to get it working and turn it all the way off when you're not using it so it doesn't run out of battery.

Do you need your voice to be heard?
I ordered this megaphone shortly after having an argument with the "owners" of the used car lot next to my house. These are the kids of the real owners who have retired but still actually OWN the lot. But that's besides the point. These people keep parking their overflow of junk cars in the no parking section of my street blocking traffic. The lot looked hideous with overgrown brush. So when The blight control officers came out to an anonymous tip to tell them to move their cars and cut down the brush, they started to to curse and insult us, us being my girlfriend and I. I can take verbal abuse, but my girlfriend shouldn't be subject to it and I was taught to not allow that to happen to the people I care about without defending them. So naturally an argument ensued. The argument turned into an ugly screaming match where I was accused of being a bum and was called many worse things. My throat ached from my verbal retaliation and found myself thinking, that surely there has to be a better way the next time I find myself in this kind of situation. That's when it hit me... "Megaphone." I've been waiting for a reason to use this bad boy since I got it. Of course when it first came I ran around the house letting my inner 10 year old self quote D-Generation X, letting everyone on the block know if they weren't down with this, then I had two words for them. Today I came home to the street being blocked and the brush pile sitting in the empty lot between the car lot and my house, that the land bank owns, that hasn't been removed since the blight officers came weeks ago. The time for megaphone action was now. I grabbed the trusty Pyle and demanded to know why the street was blocked yet again, and when the brush was going to be cleared. I was given the middle finger. I boomed through the megaphone with more questions. When he would try to answer I would activate the handy alarm or the programmed midi song feature. Being crushed this time around with decibels and my not even having to raise my voice he got frustrated and gave up. He tried to take a phone call and couldn't hear it over the screeching wail of the alarm. Defeated he got into his car and left. This is possibly the best 20 dollars I've ever spent.

Battery case latch is a problem.
The battery case latch is not secure enough. A slight jarring of the megaphone will cause the case to open and spill the batteries.

Big Sound from a Smaller Package
I am a soccer coach and needed a megaphone to replace an older 25 watt (much more expensive megaphone). This 40 watt Pyle megaphone was exactly what I was looking for. I did not want to spend a lot of money for something that I would only occasionally use, so I decided to give this megaphone a try. The description on Amazon says the sound will travel 800 yards and the box says 1,000 ft. All I know is that this unit is very powerful and will definitely be more than I need for what I am using it for. The audio is adjustable and there is a police-like siren and a built in classical music track that can be played. As a teacher and coach, I have found out that students and people in general respond better to a spoken voice that is amplified vs a voice that is unassisted and straining to get louder (the strained voice is perceived as yelling at them rather than speaking to them). One thing that I instinctively went to do was pull the trigger on the megaphone to speak into it and found out that there is no trigger on this megaphone. There is a plug in handheld microphone that is included with the megaphone, so not having a trigger is no big deal (this probably helped to cut down on production cost). I think the handheld mic is cooler anyway. Bottom line is that I would definitely recommend this megaphone for the casual or semi-casual user. We will see in time how well it holds up (Pyle does offer a 1 year warranty if you register the product online.)

It is of fairly sturdy construction
It is of fairly sturdy construction The separate microphone is great . The inbuilt chime is awful but it does attract everyone's attention! The unit is loud enough for my use and so far the (expensive) batteries have lasted a while. I wish it came with a re-chargeable battery pack In all the megaphone is good value and during it's use it did do its job fairly well

Happy
I bought this megaphone because in the summer I work at a summer camp for kids and sometimes I need to be able to speak over all the noise. So far, I have been very happy with it. The sounds carries a good distance, although I am not sure it is actually up to 800 feet as advertised. The quality of the sound is ok. It will work for what I want it for, and at the price bought is a good deal. I like that it is light weight and not too large. It is easy enough to carry around with the should strap. One thing I do not like is that it does not have a place to clip the microphone onto in order to speak through it. I have had one in the past that had a small metal clip on the back where you could put the microphone and speak directly into it. With this one, you have to hold the microphone while speaking. Sometimes it is not very practical. A place to clip it would make it easier to operate. Overall I am happy with this purchase.

Great but cheaply made megaphone, bad accessories.
Works as intended, very loud as long as your mouth is close and you got good batteries, siren is amazing. However, made very cheaply, the armstrap broke on mine and the walkie talkie thing dint even work, opened it up and found a very poor soldering job. I didn't even want that piece though.

Does The Job at Our Parkrun
Bought to replace an earlier model of the same make which had gone faulty but that was probably down to it being stored in damp conditions, we use this at our local parkrun every Saturday, its loud and clear enough to address 100+ people, giving them route and safety information before the start of the run, we tend to use it with the remote microphone as it is a bit louder than speaking directly into the back of the unit. It doesnt suffer from the dreaded feedback whistle of other units either which is great.
