LOVE, LOVE this product
This cake/cupcake taker does it's job plus more. I go to birthday dinners at restaurants several times a year and as I enjoy making the birthday cake and this taker always gets attention. People always ask how it works and where to I store that monster. When I tell them it collapse to save space and store easily they are pretty much sold. I would recommend it highly.

Great for kids parties
We got this to bring cupcakes to a kids party. It makes transportation much easier. The “cupcake troughs” in the trays hold the cupcakes in position and still allow the cupcakes to be easily picked up by little hands. The collapsible lid is a great idea for ease of storage!

This seems like a great cupcake carrier.
Update October 1st 2015: I got my cupcake carrier yesterday. I took cupcakes to both of my sisters houses today. I went over train tracks going there. Not one cupcake came out of its hole. The tiers stayed together and in place. Don't listen to all the negative Nancys and Debbie Downers that complain about this cupcake carrier. I love it so much I want the sheet cake carrier made by Progressive! One of my sister's Grandmother loved my carrier. She was impressed when I said it's a cupcake carrier. It fit perfectly in the floor on the passenger side. I moved the seat all the way back for it to fit. I knew better than to put the carrier in the seat. The cupcakes also survived me walking down my sister's steep driveway and walking up & down her stairs. Not one cupcake was damaged. I use the silicone cupcake liners and I removed the silicone liners before icing the cupcakes. The cupcakes did not stick to the holes. They easily came right out. I just received my cupcake carrier in the mail today. I had been putting off buying this due to the mixed reviews. I knew I needed a cupcake carrier due to my family loving my cupcakes. I knew I would be taking cupcakes to my Dad's for Thanksgiving & Christmas. I like that I can remove the two tiers and put them back together to use as a display stand at my Dad's for the holidays. The plastic seems to be durable hard plastic. While there is nothing to hold the tiers in place they do NOT slide around. I gently shook it after putting my cupcakes in it and locking the lid. The tiers don't even sound loose. One reviewer complained the tiers move around. I don't see how that happens. I love there is two holes next to the cupcakes hole. There is a hole on each side for you to put your fingers in. I also read one reviewer complained either on this carrier or the single sheet carrier made by Progressive. I put my hand on the lid and put pressure on it. The lid did not collapse. I don't see how the reviewer's carrier lid would collapse from just putting your hand on it. It makes no sense. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 4 is due to the lid. It took me a few minutes to pull the lid up after getting it out of the box. I was afraid the handle would break. I tugged and tugged on it to get the lid to raise up. After tugging on the lid I don't get why another reviewer worried about the lid eventually collapsing and ruining th cupcakes. The plastic seems to be really heavy duty. While trying to raise the lid up I decided once I get it up I am not collapsing the lid again. I am actually using the cupcake carrier tomorrow to take my sister some cupcakes. It will be interesting to see how this carrier does going over train tracks. I do have to go over train tracks tomorrow. As of right now I am very happy with this purchase. I will update the review tomorrow.

Wished the cups were a little deeper for a better grip on the cupcakes
I used this over the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays, once I figured out how to assemble it and work the latches on the bottom it was simple to use. The fact that the top can fold into itself for storage was the selling point for me and I was a little concerned about the sturdiness of the top because of that selling point, lol, but once popped up to its full height this did not collapse onto itself. Phew! Lol. This is a good carrier as long as you are careful not to jostle it too much during transport. And that brings me to my only criticism: the cups holding the cupcakes is pretty shallow and because of that you need to be careful when using it. Overall, I like it because it does what it's supposed to do.

Good carrier for carrying high, round layer cakes, or two tiers of decorated cupcakes. Has design flaws you can work around.
I bought this cake/cupcake carrier because I sometimes make large or oddly-shaped cakes and cupcakes and my regular carriers would not hold them. This is the only carrier I found that would meet my needs, and it should do the trick for most of what I make. Otherwise, for larger, odd-shaped creations (like cupcake bouquets) my husband makes me "custom carriers" out of larger, Rubbermaid-type plastic storage containers. As others have commented, this carrier is reasonably sturdy, but not so sturdy that I would trust carrying the filled carrier by the top handle - I recommend you always carry it by lifting and supporting it from the bottom. The bottom latch system is a poor design where the latch pushes down and clips to the bottom tray, instead of latching from bottom to top. That can make it difficult to open and close when it's filled, without jostling or shifting the contents and also carries a greater risk of the carrier opening because of weight or from being bumped against something if carried solely by the top handle. If the company redesigned this latching system to make it stronger and more secure, that would be the single, biggest improvement to the carrier in my opinion. I had no trouble with opening and closing the expanding top feature, I found the top easy to pop up and to press back down for storage. However, the expanding top design has a caveat as well. When expanded to hold two tiers of cupcakes, the top cover fits very snugly against the top tray tier - great for holding the top tray steady while transporting it, but you have to be careful when you remove the top that the top tray doesn't get stuck and lift out or tip unexpectedly. Even with those two flaws, which you can work around with a little vigilance, this is the best large carrier I have found especially for tall cakes. Wilton makes a sturdy, rectangular carrier that probably works better for two tiers of regular, decorated cupcakes or a frosted two-layer cake, but isn't high enough to carry an extra tall, decorated cake or extra-high decorated cupcakes.

Actually fits my cake and cupcakes!
I have two other brands of carriers - one is a single layer with cups that are far to shallow to support a cupcake from falling and one is a multi layer carrier with such low clearance that it crushes the frosting my cupcakes - very frustrating! I have been searching for an easy to use, versatile carrier with LOTS of room for frosting - enter the Progressive carrier. This thing checks all the boxes on my wishlist, and folds away smaller to boot! I love the height on it as well, it'll be great for transporting taller cakes!

Have Cupcakes Will Travel
A well-built, well-designed carrier. I bought this to carry cupcakes, but it will also work for layer cake or even pie. the cupcake insert is removable, so I don't have to use a cake board. I love the way the top collapses when you push it down, so this carrier does not use up as much storage space. The only negative thing I have to say is that I have no faith in the handle on top. It looks like it might slip out of its loops.

Great way to transport cakes, pies and cupcakes.
Perfect for a baking grandmother! Sturdy, easy to load and easy to carry. Slightly larger than expected, but of course my other one cannot carry cupcakes! I use a small square of the shelf liner used in campers to hold pie plates in place.
