Good second layer of screen to keep pets in

Someone gave me one of these so I'd have a second layer of screen to keep my cats from escaping. I wanted a few more for other windows in my house so I got these. The mesh is metal and is better than the fabric mesh of the existing window screens. Now my cats can choose to sit at a variety of windows while they silently judge the neighbors. The extra layer of screen these portable screens create, gives me more peace of mind. I can open my windows a bit wider than usual and enjoy the fresh air without my cats popping the screen out.

Gap under window where it rests on the screen

There's a gap where the window rests on the screen. I put some weather stripping on top and it works.

Mesh screen with unfinished wood

Nice screen can be painted or left natural, depending on your decor. Fits well in 15" window. Adjusts easily to various widths.

It's not strong enough for my cats

I bought this to fit in the bedroom window to keep my one big cat and two kittens from ripping up the regular window screen and getting out the window. Within two months they tugged part of it out of the flimsy wooden frame. In another month the cats broke part of the frame. Duct tape doesn't stick to it very much. I am disappointed that it fell apart too easily but taped up it does continue to be useful for the window. :(

Perfect for privacy

These are perfect for privacy. You get fresh air and no one can see in. It keeps down on the dust also. They are adjustable and easily fit in my window.

Did the job.

Just what I was looking for. I didn’t want to go through the trouble of getting an expensive custom made screen so I opted for this. I’m glad I did. It’s a bit less sturdy than expected however it’s for a smaller window and I’m pleased overall.

The screen is poorly made. I was able to fix the problem, but the screen material was not properly attached to the casing.

Great concept; needs reinforcement...read my comments for only suggestions...not recommendations.

The height and length are perfect; what is not perfect is it very flimsy and the mesh pulls apart easily if you apply pressure on the edges...so, I would recommend to glue them further using GOOP ...my option as it is a sturdy glue.... and I did both sides, and inside and outside just inside the frame...a little extra work but now, I don't have to worry about my cats nudging the screens or any hands (only adults in our home....I PERSONALLY WOULD NOT USE THESE SCREENS WITH CHILDREN UNDER 7 YEARS...the screen gives way too easily)....I have little great nephews/nieces and believe me the windows would be shut closed and locked....no one needs any heartache of scares or injuries...please examine the screens before installing to see if needs a little extra reinforcements...it's a great concept and has made my summer amazing...I just wish they would make it extra secure...I would even pay more for that...just saying.
