This valve is great. I can get flames up the sides of the heat shield if I want to. I accidentally bought the low output valve last time. We have been miserable, with frequent blow outs and slow cooking. On the Cabo (18") grill this valve will go down to about medium heat. The packaging said it's made for 22" grills. The diagram on topof the knob is easier to read than the slow output as well, and sometimes guests couldn't figure out the old valve; this one should be great. The medium output valve must be the stock valve for the Cabo, I'm sure this high output will work better in the wind as well, bc medium blew out if the bbq was turned in certain directions vs the wind, but rarely compared to the slow output. FYI If you look at the magma valves they says precimex model 6000, which is also a $15 Mr. Heater model F273769. The orifice size is correlated to low/medium/high so you need to drill the orifice to the exact same size dependent on which you prefer (low, medium, or high) exactly. even down to the 64th to match your current/preferred orifice, or just swap out the orifice to the new valve. Amazon item = Portable Propane Table Top Regulator 1 by 20 Female Throwaway Cylinder Thread (Inlet) x Orifice (Outlet) #F273769 Next I'm going to bend and tack weld a larger stainless box similar to the valves' box but with an open bottom and mount a universal electronic ignition with a piece of fireplace door seal between the ignition and the wall inside the box facing the bbq, then mount it just behind the valve's box. They should make that upgrade kit.

Medium is much better for 15 inch grill than what was included
I previously gave my 15 inch grill a one star because the flame was so small I compared it to cooking over a Bic lighter. And it blew out at the slightest breeze. Nevertheless, I suffered though using this and would cook a few hamburgers (took half an hour or more to get to med rare) a summer. Then it stopped working altogether - couldn't get it to light at all - and the internet said to replace the regulator. What do you know? Amazon has four different types of regulator for this extra low, low, medium, and high output. They all look the same. Knowing Magma makes some much larger grills I took a risk and ordered the medium. All I can say is - WOW! What a difference! Now it is like cooking on a normal grill! I can even adjust the flame below full on. And it doesn't blow out. Mine must have originally shipped with an extra low output regulator. You shouldn't have to buy a better regulator, but if you do, it will work great. The parts look identical and the imprinted numbers all look the same.

For a portable grill that’s used on our boat. The other one wasn’t put on tight enough list it in the water. So was glad we were able to get it replaced.

This lasted a year and a half. I use grease on the threads and on bottle threads. I store it dry in one of my live wells that I don't use, and used it twice a month on average. It's on par with a home depot regulator, which with a piece of wire around the spout and some tinkering can also be used in a pinch for a lot cheaper on the magma grills. Anyway I didn't realize it when I bought this one bc Amazon only sold this one at the time, but it def is low output. Everyone has mentioned that the grill has been burning out and won't heat up well, and my friend has been holding off on his purchase of a magma bc he is not happy with mine. The old regulator blew out only once in awhile and heated fine. I'll have to let him know about my mistake. Learn from my experience, if you want to bake something slowly with frequent wind blow outs then use this, for searing a steak and no blow outs use the high output valve. 3 stars due to home depot quality of the valve vs the price. This is MICH higher flow than the little one that comes with the marine grill. It makes the insert glow red hot if I turn it up. So yes, u can finally boil that water that u never could before.

Great temperature control, BUT....
You MUST secure this regulator to the BBQ with a line of some sort, as it can be a bit loose connecting into the BBQ. If using over the water, it will eventually fall in, requiring a scuba expedition. Don't ask me how I know.

Medium flow works well for the 18”
This is a good option for the 18” Magma BBQ. Was confused when researching what flow rate to get, so went with the medium. Allows for low heat, as well as a fairly high top setting. I’m satisfied with the performance, so I’m just going to stick with the medium.

Gas regulator Magma BBQ.
So regulator is perfect, but missing the 2 “O”rings that you need to seal the unit to the BBQ. I had some here, so I got it to work.
