Almost identical to Holbein!
These are great! Ordered them for my daughter as she saw someone on YouTube doing lovely art with them, but also tried a few of them out myself. She loves them and so do I! These are almost identical to Holbein (my favorite). Very smooth and more oily feel lay down, easy dense coverage. As a sensory sensitive person, I can’t stand the “dry” and scratchy sensation of most pencils. These are soft yet firm enough to not worry about using too much pressure and to have control over detail work. VERY beautiful and wide range of colors in this set, HUGE variety of colors and sets available in the Prismacolor Premier line. Nice sets with lovely colors for different purposes, very impressive. The only star taken away is for design. I just don’t care for it… looks very similar to cheap colored pencils I used as a kid, compared to the competition. I prefer Holbein’s aesthetics or Derwent. Also don’t really like how these are a bit more narrow than other colored pencils I own, so not as comfortable to hold. But at this price point, those are very minor gripes. Really like these overall ???????????????????????? Here’s my breakdown of all the pencils I’ve tried: Holbein — high-end feel, a softer pencil (though not so soft you can’t apply pressure easily or control details), lays down smoothly with no scratchy sound or feeling, oily rather than dry feeling, really covers solidly with ease, shows up beautifully over watercolor & gouache. Lovely and wide color selection. Derwent Drawing — the softest pencil out there I’ve tried so far. The softness does make it a bit harder to control details unless you have a very sharp point. Also the thickest pencil I’ve tried with the biggest diameter color core — very pretty design & comfortable to hold. Really smooth and easy lay down, oily feeling rather than dry, dense pigment that shows up easily over watercolor & gouache. Very limited color palette but I personally ADORE all these particular colors for landscapes, botanicals & portraits. Prismacolor — a step up in quality compared to Brutfuner, with most of the colors less dry feeing. Pigment load is much better though — on par with Holbein & shows up over watercolor & gouache. HUGE color selection and great price point, though not the most classy looking pencil out there — compared to the more expensive competition, these seem somewhat childish looking (to me, anyway). They are the narrowest pencil I’ve tried and not the most comfortable to hold but the color core diameter is equal to Holbein. Brutfuner Macaron Pastel set of 50 — a direct attempted dupe to Holbein pastel set — very similar to Holbein & Prismacolor, though a bit more dry feeling, smaller color core diameter and less pigment load. Gorgeous colors that have dense pigment on white paper but don’t show up very well over black paper or watercolor/ gouache. A great set for the price! Faber Castell Polychromos — similar quality to Holbein, equal feeling when laying down to Brutfuner (more dry leaning but smooth and not scratchy), good pigment load & shows up well over watercolor and gouache. Luminance — a high-end feel soft pencil but definitely more “dry” almost chalky feeling when laying down. Shows up well over watercolor & gouache. A bit wider barrel than Holbein (about equal to Derwent Drawing) with an equal color core size. Lovely muted color selection but not the widest color palette available.

Happy with the purchase and customer service.
I did a lot of research, reading articles and watched many YouTube videos on color pencil brands reviews. Because I’m not a professional artist, I concluded that Prismacolor Premiere coloring pencils will suit my hobby coloring best. I had been using another brand and had to press hard to get colors down and still not as vivid as Prisma. Got the 132 set and am very happy with the colors provided - although I think some dark grays are just like the black. My only other complaint is the common one that you’ve all been reading about. The core is not centered and the the quality is not the same as it was from many years ago but MANY pencils are centered and I did check each pencil. I can’t compare because I’ve never used the old Prisma before but I can tell you that I’ve tested all the pencils and they’re all pretty buttery and blend nicely. I don’t have to press hard at all to get vivid colors. As for the badly centered pencils, I simply called Prisma and spoke to a live person who helped me and they will send out SIX replacements. The six pencils I wanted replaced were so off centered they could not be sharpened properly. The only tip that broke from sharpening was my fault as I didn’t treat it with care when I removed it from the sharpener. NONE of the other tips broke. Please remember these are soft core so treat it like it’s soft core. I did buy a Prisma manual sharpener and like it a lot. So it’s not perfect but excellent customer service. You’ll find the number once you generate an exchange/return. Good luck and remember, happy coloring. UPDATE: Got all six replacement colors that I requested this week. They look centered and not damaged.

Replacement came quickly; 1 pencil is missing/found a duplicate pencil
I ordered 3 sets of Primacolor primer color pencils during Amazon's Prime day sale: 24, 48, and 132 colors; the 132 color set came first, but Amazon shipped it with just a padded envelop, so when it arrived, I saw a hole on that padded envelop; I opened it to check and saw the box was damaged (even though its plastic wrapping around the box was still good and sealed), because I planned to use its box to storage these 132 pencils (some people buy their own color pencil case which can hold 250-300 pencils all together, so maybe they won't mind if they receive a dented box), so immediately I reported the problem and Amazon agreed to send out a replacement in 2 days, so 2 days later the replacement came! (It's very fast, I'm happy with Amazon's speedy service for my replacement, giving the fact that this is the first time I ever received a damaged item and had to report it). So the replacement was shipped in a regular Amazon box this time and after checking for any sign of damage carefully on this replacement, it looked all good from the appearance, so I felt happy again and was very excited to open it to check its contents. I am new to Prismacolor colored pencils, but I've been watching some Prismacolor product unboxing videos on Youtube recently, so I learned they don't arrange pencils by same/similar color range in the trays in each box; thus, as soon as I opened it, I was going to group them by similar colors, but out of curiosity I decided to arrange them by the numbers printed at the end of the pencils, just to see if I can understand the number system/logic that Prismacolor has applied to their colored pencils. Then after I finished arranging 132 pencils by number order, I found I have a duplicate (#1003)!!! I was surprised! Thus, that also means there's one color missing. After comparing all the numbers printed on the rest of 130 pencils, I found out #1034 is missing. I know it's not Amazon's fault, it's more of a Prismacolor's quality control issue here (therefore I give 4 stars in this review); this makes me wonder if I should open and check the rest of 2 sets (24 and 48 colors) I bought, but I'm planning to give them as X'mas gifts to others, so I know I can't open those 2 sets to check and will have to believe maybe the set I received just has a tiny "defect"; my recommendation to anyone who's going to buy any set and will keep for personal use (not buying as a gift)) is to do a quick check for a duplicate after you receive your set :) I actually bought a 72-color Prismacolor colored pencil set about 3-4 weeks ago, also from Amazon, but I just opened it and took a glance of every tray (there are just 3 trays in that 72-color set) then, and I didn't expect there could be a duplicate issue until I opened this 132-color set today, so I think I'm going back to re-check that 72-color set again for this duplicate issue, just to make sure. I"m sending back the dented-box 132-color set next week; I'm happy that Amazon sent the replacement quickly! 5 stars to Amazon's good customer service & 4 stars to this replacement I received because of the duplicate & the one missing pencil. I"m thinking if I should contact Amazon for ANOTHER replacement, LOL, it's like a hassle (driving to UPS store to do this return/replacement thing two times isn't fun at all).

Is it 100% genuine Sanford
Someone please review, are these prismacolor 100% legit. Till now experience is good, but few pencils outer paint has started chipping of. No issues with colouring, but quality seems dubious.

Great colours???? cheap build ????
I am an intermediate artist, not a professional. Prismacolours are highly pigmented, smooth and soft WAX based pencils, which often causes them to break. Also, you'll see a wax bloom, predominantly with darker shades upon rigorous layering and burnishing. Wipe it off and you're good to go. So first things first, get a new sharpener and replace often for reducing breakage (they're expensive). Amazing blendability, you will rarely require colourless blenders or other tools. The colours are very saturated and pop. I didn't find a very impressive range of skin tones in the 72 pack. However, it comes with a fullll tray of greys. But the wood used is not of the best quality. The casing on the pencils as well is not sturdy. So avoid dropping on the floor, because if you do, that might just end up breaking everything inside. Always have a sharp sharpener, a manual table sharpener at best. The Derwent one is pretty good. But if you dont have one, (or broke yours like i did????)you can use a regular sharpener. The end is not sealed and the lead is visible. A couple of pencils came with a long lead-to-end crack. That makes me cut off 1 star. Overall, be delicate when using or they'll break every 5 seconds. When it comes to pigments, colours and blendability, no questions please...

OMG!!! JUST FANTASTIC. ????✨ GO FOR IT GUYZZZZZ .
I've been using Prismacolors since the past 2 years . And one thing for sure, I can tell you that you can go for it without a second thought . It's a little bit costly but it's worth it . I am a beginner and I use it . I've bought a 72 ct. coloured pencils . I've bought this last year and I'm writing the review now... I'm such a lazyy girll... Here are some drawings I've drawn using Prismacolors. And if you want , you can follow me on instagram @__.streaks._.of._.hue.__ Btw I'm sorry if I've made any grammatical mistakes.

Prismacolor premier review after 3 months.
These pencils are absolutely amazing! I ordered the 72 set and the colour selection does not disappoint at all. Prismacolor Premier pencils are known for their rich and vibrant pigments and effortless application on the paper. Blending and layering with these pencils are an absolute treat and the results are extremely satisfying. Recently there has been a lot of concern regarding the quality of these pencils but I haven't really faced any issues apart from a single instance where the indigo coloured pencil broke on me a couple of times, one of those were during very heavy application. A few pencils do have off-centered cores but haven't yet lead to any kind of breakage. Overall, I would suggest these to anyone looking for good artist grade pencils but unwilling to spend for the polychromos or caran d'ache. There's a good reason why prismacolor premier is the choice of artists the world over!!
