good features, Choose what color you buy carefully!
Head lamp seems good so far. I have not used it long term but initial impressions are good, I wish the red light mode was a little brighter, though most head lamps with red light mode are dimmer than this one. There is no memory on your last used brightness setting in each mode, every time you scroll though the modes it defaults to the brightest. Just two things to take note of. No star deduction there. Here is my biggest gripe with it: The description of this headlamp gives no mention of the fact that if you buy it in one of the semi-transparent colored plastics the entire colored plastic housing illuminates slightly when using any light mode. This is great for people seeing you from the side and even from the front for that matter if your headlight is not pointing at there eyes. The problem is (with the semi-transparent plastic housings ONLY), when its truly dark and your only light is the headlamp, it shines light down onto your face which makes it much harder to see. Its almost like someone has a dim light shining just below your eyes and its reflecting off of your face into your eyes. While you try to look out at the light you are projecting. A lot of eye strain and VERY annoying. Just to check I put a black piece of electrical tape blocking off the bottom half of the front plastic case, and sure enough it was a big difference and much easier on the eyes with no glare coming back on your face and eyes. I had to return the semi transparent orange plastic version for this reason, it was unbearable, and go with the black (which light does NOT go though and glow) The difference was immediate and positive. Although it looks cool and acts like a glowing beacon, the semi-transparent plastic is very annoying to actually use at night. This may sound like a negative review but I really do like my black-non glowing housing headlamp! Pushing the button is firm but thats a good thing so its not overly sensitive. Build quality looks good, very comfortable and light. Easy to change batteries, the screw to open the housing is now captured so you cannot lose it. It has ribs on it for your fingers but also a regular screwdriver slot if needed. Head band is comfortable and easy to adjust. Takes alkaline/lithium and rechargeable batteries-very versatile. I would recommend just buy in solid colors I think only available in tan and black. 1 star removed only because of that glowing housing annoyance!

Made in USA. Worth the extra money. Princton tec is the only USA Manuf of LED headlamps I can find
I love the fact that Princeton Tec manufactures these in the USA. No other LED headlamp manufactures their product in the USA. I have had a problem with one of their other headlamps, and have not yet contacted them about it, but they are supposed to have good customer support as well. Battery life is good considering the brightness of this headlamp. Multiple light options, and this one will let you select brightness in order to not blind people around you as well as extend battery life. Battery access is from the hinged back that has a flat headed screw that is knurled, and I use my thumb nail to open and close. Uses 3 AAA batteries. Head band is average, and not uncomfortable. I have owned several of these, exact same PT lamps, and have been satisfied with all of them. Princeton Tec is now the only company I will buy headlamps from.

Great American made product
It has a focused beam and a flood light setting. Really lights up the immediate area well. Batteries last a long time too

Fine headlamp, not really MADE IN THE USA
The lamp is pretty good, but double the price of its Chinese assembled counterparts. If you bought this lamp because it was MADE IN THE USA, you might be disappointed. A more appropriate label is ASSEMBLED IN THE USA, as the fine print indicates components of the headlamp are indeed sourced from abroad - aka the same parts found in the $20 Chinese made headlamps. But like I said, pretty good lamp.

Battery drain!
I ordered 2 of these to take on a hiking trip, noticed the batteries were drained at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. No big deal, we had spares. Then I noticed the replacement batteries were dead a short time after. After burning through several more batteries I made a claim with Princeton Tec. After sending in the originals and receiving replacements, same problem. Batteries are dead after a couple weeks of no use. So I hooked up the multimeter and, as you can see, there is still a current draw when the unit is OFF. At .76mA, no wonder the batteries are always dead.

Best Value
Was looking for a headlamp for DIY plumbing and other projects where additional light is needed. The Tec Vizz Headlamp was the best priced for the lumens. The brightness of the light it gives off is much better than the previous general use/camping lamps I had gotten.

Love this headlamp
I work outside at night and have been using this headlamp for the past 8 years. This is my 2nd one. Very comfortable wearing for 12hr a day, have tryed many others over the years. Doesn't have great distance but great for brightening up your surrounding work area.

Drains batteries dead when not being used.
I bought this headlight for working on my car. I need a lot of light with my old eyes. The lamp is nice and bright, and the headband is fairly comfortable. I used it once, then put it away. The next time I went to use it, it didn't work. Hmmmmm. So I put fresh batteries in it, and it was fine. I thought perhaps I had left it on. The next time I used it, the light again didn't work. I checked the battery voltage, and they were all completely dead. There is a video on YouTube describing this problem. The headlight draws 3 milliamps even if you put it into storage mode. I don't know how common this problem is, but I wouldn't take a chance on getting a battery eater if I were in the market for a headlamp. I contacted Princeton Tec by email, and they said to send it in. Turnaround time runs three to four weeks. I'm not sure if I want to do that. I'll probably just remove the batteries when I'm not using it.
