Perfect
Just what I needed for my applications. Had been searching for a headlamp with a red filter setup like this one. Fits secure and button gives a responsive feel when pressed.

Excellent Headlamp For An Excellent Price
For a low priced headlamp, this is a great product. Admittedly I don't have much experience with other headlamps, but this one makes me feel like I won't need to. What you get: This headlamp ships with the headlamp itself, and a set of three lenses (Red, Green, Blue), that you can use to change the color of the light emitted. Setting it up: The Princeton Tec Quad LED Headlamp is pretty easy to set up; to install the batteries you only have to remove one screw, which you can do without the need for a screwdriver, and then insert the batteries (it takes 3 AAA batteries). Switching out the lenses is a little bit trickier, and I can't remember whether there were any kind of instructions telling you how to. That being said, it's still easy to do. Simply pry up on the little tabs which can be found on either side of the power switch (I use the tip of a knife), and swing the cover forward. You can insert whichever of the lenses you want, and then close the cover until you hear the snaps of the tabs locking back into place. Use: The headlamp has three brightness levels and a strobe function. You press once for the lowest setting, and then press once for each brightness setting increase. If you press again after reaching the brightest setting, the headlamp begins strobing. To use whichever optional lens you inserted, all you have to do is slide it up over the white LED bulbs, and when you don't want the colored light anymore, you can just slide it back down. The headlamp also tilts forward and has quite a few different degrees of tilt that you can choose from. In my experience with it, the Princeton Tec hasn't once flopped forward on me, even after several high impact landings. It stays firmly in place, no matter what angle you've got it tilted at. The headband it comes with is a very comfortable neoprene/elastic feeling band. I've worn it with and without a hat so far and haven't had a problem with it being too big or too small (I've got a pretty big head). The white light is pretty far reaching (I'd say about 50 feet, which I consider to be far reaching anyway), and bright. The lenses take a little time to adjust to since they dim the light down, but they'll help you find your way while preserving your night vision capabilities. Con: There is one con to this headlamp, and it has to do with storing your extra lenses. The package includes a little clip that you can attach to the headband, and I've found it pretty useful for storing one of the extra lenses. I'm assuming that's what it's for, since I can't find any other purpose for it. The downside is that it only holds one. So if for some reason I need to use all of my lenses in one night, I'll be able to quickly switch out for one, but if for some strange reason I find myself needing the third, I'll have to go digging in a pocket or backpack for the tiny baggy holding the tinier lens. This isn't a big problem at all, since I don't foresee needing a red, green, and blue lens all in one night, but it just makes more sense to have them all in one place. It's not enough to knock off a star, just a mild nuisance. In summary, this headlamp is a great investment for anyone who might want to go on night hikes, play airsoft at night, or really do anything in the dark. It's definitely a more convenient alternative to a flashlight so that you can keep your hands free and still have light. It's comfortable, versatile, and very easy to use. I could open it up and install new batteries with gloves on and no screwdriver, which is a plus. Definitely would recommend, especially since it's list price is so low.

Dependable light
I've had one of these for many years and use it for getting to/from my hunting stand in the dark. The light comes with one color filter, but you can get others from the manufacturer (as well as a clip-on holder for each of the filters you'd select that slide onto the head band). Filters come in red, green and blue. The blue was touted for blood tracking in the dark, but it's largely useless as it makes blood appear "black". It still gives a softer glow than than the white LED light itself. Plenty bright, solidly holds the lamp in multiple positions when tilting downwards. Battery change is easy. I'd recommend it.

Nice comfortable headlight for hands free usage
I’m still using a Princeton tec for lamp LED headlamp that I’ve had for nearly 15 years. I thought I was ordering exactly the same thing but this one is a little less well-made which explains the price being less. However it’s still a really good headlamp especially for the price. Three levels of brightness plus for some the different colored lenses will be a nice feature. If it lasts half as long as my first one has, it will be a great deal.

Works reasonably well. Slightly too bright even on lowest setting
The lamp works well enough with a red lens they stays in place and it is a "tactical" design that starts on the lowest brightness setting. However, it has the following drawbacks: (1) the lowest brightness setting is still a little bright for stargazing--I would often on purpose run low batteries in this device to make it even less bright. (2) sand or fine dirt getting on the lenses, will cause the flippable lens to become hard to move (though you can just clean it out), (3) Could be more durable as if dropped, it is liable to break right where the screw holds the pieces together... the screw goes into a piece of metal, but that metal is surrounded by plastic that should be sturdier . Still, as I don't know of a better headlamp (maybe there is one out there but I'm not sure), I'm buying a replacement for the one I broke after 1.5 years of nearly daily use. Edited to add--the current one does not come with a manual anymore (not that one is really necessary). Also the screw isn't quite as easy to crap as the previous version. The package is annoying to open and prone to damaging the contents if you are not careful.

Good Tactical Light For Hands Free Work
I have the bigger Princeton that has the big battery pack in the back also and I love it but sometimes its just overkill and a tad heavy. This is very light weight and good for most things. When outdoors you most likely would want to use the highest setting to light a path. I thought the red lens would be more useful but havent foiund a great need. You cant use it to light a path so it would be more for reading and adjusting equipment relatively close up within a few feet. Has a very long run time and like all Princetons it is water proof so you can drop it in the creek or lake and it will still keep working. Its sometimes hard to tell which side is up on it when you put it on, as both look almost the same. Its great having your hands free to do whatever. My kids still give me crap about the geekiness of it though. Hmm I wonder if I got them one if they would see the light :) UPDATE 7-9-2013 Still going strong and use it all the time.

Worth the price
Very well made product, plenty bright for camping, hiking, fishing and emergencies I like the colored lenses that come with it especially for preserving night vision.

Good light with an essential filter set-up
The flip-up filter is a huge upside when you don't want to accidentally turn on a white light in a tactical environment.

Did not work
Wasn’t as strong or high quality as expected and would turn on briefly and then not work. Not fit for purpose

Military Use
I just got off a exercise where I used this headlamp exclusively. Pros: light never fades, it's regular brightness till it dies. Flip the gate to engage colour. Comes with blue and green lenses you can install. Never mistakenly turn on a white light. Excellent white light. Cons: since it uses a lens, the red light is significantly worse. Even on high setting side by side to other headlamps it was noticeably lacking. With that being said, it's still more then useable, but my next purchase will be a headlamp with a red led instead of lens.

Excelente linterna
