BEST INVESTMENT EVER!!

The perfect piece of equipment for home workouts. It takes up very little space and allows for a full range of weights. It has taken my workouts to the next level.

A little disappointed.

I’ve had my eye on power blocks for years but eventually opted for a more traditional gym. I recently moved for work and needed a more portable solution to use on the road and I’m a little disappointed for the price. The dividers that lock the weights in are super flimsy and get wedged halfway between one weight plate and another more times than not. It feels like something that will break relatively quickly. Plus it is super frustrating to be in between sets and have to fight with it to change your weights. If I had it to do over again I would have probably gone with a different system.

Great addition to my home gym

I bought these in December 2019 and was very grateful to have them. Now it's December 2021, and I'm still working out at home with these as a key component of my strength training. PowerBlocks can't compete with a full set of dumbbells like you get at commercial gyms, but they cover all of the major points that I need them to. Having my hands in a sort of box felt weird at first, but eventually I got used to it and can do most exercises as easily as I can with regular dumbbells. There are certain exceptions, like goblet squats. It's not that these moves are impossible, just extremely awkward. But this represents a very limited number of exercises. There is a bit of rattle when the PowerBlocks are in motion, though they are secure. I don't think the rattle would be loud enough to disturb someone sleeping in another room with the door shut, though of course this is a subjective thing. When I compare it to the noise I'd make working with regular dumbbells, I'd say there's somewhat more because of the rattle (at least on fast move) but not at a high level. Adjusting the weights is very simple and fast, but it is possible to misalign the adjuster so that it overlaps two weights rather than firmly latching onto one. This is easy to spot if you're paying attention, but note that it is possible to lift the weight when the adjuster is improperly set. I've done this a few times when in a hurry. At that point it's just a matter of setting the weight down and resetting the adjuster, but that's not something you'd want to be doing habitually for safety reasons. After two years of use, the colored plastic bands on the tiers of weights are starting to get brittle and crack, but I'm not bothered by this. Actually, I'm surprised that these are holding up as well as they are given the humidity of my environment. More importantly, the metal is still in good shape and looks like it will continue to hold up for a long time to come. With the weight levels properly set, the PowerBlocks are very stable and safe to use. I still wish this pair came out to 50 lbs rather than 48, but I think this is just how it is given the nature of the design. I'm lucky that I bought these before COVID hit, and I've certainly got my money's worth out of them.

Great dumbbell set

Review of 24lb set: First off someone made a review that said their dumbbells only weighed 21lb. I think they forgot the last weight in the box or it was missing one, both of mine came in at 23.9lb. Cons: Plastic piece for weight selection. Works fine but a little worrisome if it were to break. Some movement of the weights in use/rattling. Not a big deal I think it comes with the territory with these kinds of dumbbells but something to note. Pros: 3-24lbs in 3lb increments. This is great, much better than having to go up 5lb each time. The weight selection is quick and easy and rather enjoyable. While the weights rattle a bit in use they are secure and work fine. In fact whenever you have them in a pressing motion they are extra secured, meaning they would not fall off even without the pin (of course not recommended). They are comfortable to grip and use. You may touch your forearm to the crossmember at times during certain movements (like wrist curls) but for the most part they work just like regular dumbbells. I have IronMaster dumbbells and these are a great addition for lighter weights. Also the weights are color coded to make it even easier/faster to change weights.

Most compact set of adjustable weights

I have had these for a year now and I love them. When I travel I can easily take them with me in the car. I can take them anywhere to work out and only have to worry about carrying one set of dumbbells, but still have 8 different weight options if I choose to bring the whole set. Before I would have to take multiple sets of dumbbells, which can be awkward to pack and carry. I love that this is such a compact way to have 8 pairs of dumbbells and that it goes up in 3 pound increments. Sometimes you are ready for more weight but 5 pounds can be too big of a jump. I like that you can easily switch how much weight you are lifting. Just make sure the weights are on a hard and level surface when adjusting weight. I looked at all the local sporting good stores and the adjustable weight dumbbells that were offered. I didn’t like any of them! They were bulky and awkward. These weights are not bulky in fact they are just as long as my free standing 10 pound dumbbells! I was using separate free weight dumbbells and needed to up my weights but after the 10 pound weights all I could find went up by 5 pounds and I knew I wasn’t ready for that type of jump in weights. After doing some fitness blender workouts on YouTube I decided I wanted the weights they were using so I searched for the weights they were using and these are it. These also solved my problem of too big of jumps in weight. There are 8 weight options from 3 pounds to 24. I did not have the problem of only one showing up like some of the other reviews mention. The pair came together, each one in its own box, and on time.

This is so simple and amazing dumbell sets. With lockdown situation & gyms closed. This was the right choice and need of the hour to maintain more than basic level fitness. Solid, adjustable, and powerful Dumbells. Great product !!

Best adjustable dumbbells I've tried! Fast to change weights and easy to store in a small flat!

Excellent adjustable dumbbell! It is really quick to change out weights--as fast and easy as advertised. There's a very minimal amount of noise when changing the plates. The pin feels very safe and it's easy to get the hang of. In the first workout I did with them, a couple of times I missed getting the pin all the way through or I went through the wrong one. Once you know what it should look like (pin through the same colored bar on the front and the ends of the pin locked through on the same bar on the back), it takes no time to do a quick visual inspection as you lift the weights. The grip is really comfortable to hold and you don't need lifting gloves for these. I love that it adjusts quickly in 3 lb increments. One nice feature of these is the shape makes them very nice pushup stands, too! I previously had two sets of 20kg weight plates/spinlock bars. I had two dumbbells sets to reduce my rest periods between exercises. These powerblocks give me an even heavier weight option (11kg) than my old dumbbells but take up so much less room in my flat. The only small issue is that adjusting the weights on a soft surface like a cushioned mat or carpet is a little tricky at the higher weights. Having something like a tray to rest the weights on would be a help but it's a minor issue. Even on a soft surface, changing out the weight to 21 or 24 lbs is still much faster than I used to be able to do it with the plates and spinlock bars I used before, so I'm already a little spoiled by the speed of PowerBlocks. I know there's a branded PowerBlock stand but I'm going to try a baking tray first and see if that solves the issue.

Great weights, super compact, easy to use

I bought these recently because I do workouts where i need to switch weights quickly. These are great very compact weights. They are almost half the lenght of a 12lb dumbell but a little taller, so its a trade off. But you save a ton of space. I also have the U90 so this set provides some weights that arent available in that set. If you are able to snag these, then dont hesitate. I managed to a get a 'used' pair just last week...super lucky considering they are out of stock everywhere!

Well made & great to use

I cannot believe I waited so long to buy some of these, they really are excellent!! I have now got rid of 3 sets of standard adjustable dumbbells, saving me a huge amount of space! They are very well made, even smaller than expected in the flesh and it takes only a few seconds to change weights (NOTE - dumbbells need to be on a hard surface, on carpet you will struggle to slide the selector pin through). Bear in mind these are a standalone product and cannot be increased in weight like other models so if you think you will be lifting more than 11kg/24lbs in each hand, then other models with 'stage' increases might be a better investment. Unlike some other reviewers I don't really experience much rattling issue but perhaps I am less heavy handed (no pun intended!) besides, I had standard dumbbells that rattled if jolted, so that's fairly par for the course isn't it!?

Versatile set of weights, working for me!

Well made & as other reviewers noted they do make a little noise. Seem expensive for what they are but it was worth it to have variable weights in a small footprint. Easy to adjust but you definitely want a small level bench or table to rest them on during the adjusting process
