This works great.
Works great. Kept a 1/2 barrel cold for 10 hours. Only gripe is that the straps are too short. They work, but they should be a few inches longer.

I'm impressed! It really does work!
I was skeptical at first because it seemed like most of the positive reviews were "paid" (Because who would leave a negative review of something they've been given for free if they wanted to receive MORE free stuff?!) But all I can say is...Wow! This thing really works. I wrapped this blanket around a cold pony keg (that's a half keg) with no problems, and it kept the beer COLD all day. I had bought extra ice packs to swap out throughout the day but was pleasantly surprised when the keg and original ice packs were still cold whenever I checked. This was an extremely hot summer day (high of 93) and the keg was sitting out on a brick patio all day from about noon onwards. My guests were seriously impressed and I was quite proud that "my" keg promised cold beer for the duration of the party. I was hesitant about the price of this blanket when I first purchased it, but now can confidently say that I would gladly pay double if I ever needed a new one.

Great Product!!
These are the best! I bought two of these to keep two 1/2 kegs ice cold for three full days. We replaced the ice packets every 9-12 hours. But, get this, one keg (still half full) sat unattended with no new ice packs for 36 hours (two nights at 50 degrees and one day traveling in a car at 70 degrees) and the beer was still icey cold when we off-loaded the extra beer! Fantastic! They are light-weight, constructed very well, and work better than promised.

Good to have
A bit pricey but beats dealing with tubs, easy to store. I just set the keg on the ground, wrap this around loosely and pour in ice. As the ice melts the ground absorbs the water, no problem.

It works
This kept our keg cold. It wasn't the hottest weather when we used it but the ice packs were still somewhat frozen the next day as well. So much better than a tub of ice water.

Genuine Utah-made keg cooler
The manufacturer of this product, Powerblanket, makes industrial devices to keep equipment and materials within desired temperatures. Some of it's designed for breweries, an unusual line of work for a company led by a graduate of Brigham Young University. This product is also a departure from the company's industrial focus to a distinctly recreational one. These facts may be explained by Powerblanket's proximity to the University of Utah. (Which may also explain why the "Keg Cooler" graphic on mine is upside down.) The industrial roots make for a sturdy, effective result. The ice packets go inside mesh pockets that go against the keg. The mesh is sewn onto vinyl strips that appear to be heat sealed or glued onto the vinyl shell. Inside the shell, forming a layer outside the ice packets, is 1/2" insulating foam. The 15-mil vinyl used for the shell is reinforced with something like nylon thread; it doesn't tear and feels durable. The shell's edges are sealed but mine has a 1/4" unsealed spot where liquid might seep in. The white color doesn't absorb heat from outside as much as dark colors would. The three permanently attached straps to keep the "blanket" on tightly have spring-loaded metal fasteners, plenty heavy-duty for this application. Easily cleanable. The vinyl has a fairly strong odor at first, which dissipates with airing out. One-year warranty.

KEEPS BEER ICE COLD
Kept the beer ice cold for 10 hours outside in the shade on a 90 degree day! Didn't have to deal with a cooler full of melting ice, just pre-froze the 12 ice packs (they're included), put them in the pouches which go directly against the keg, then tightened the insulator straps, and forgot about it while people served themselves cold beer all day. Note: best to start with a cold keg, which we did, since I don't think this will cool a warm keg. I'm also going to buy an extra set of freeze packs so on the off chance a keg isn't used in 10 hours or so, I can swap packs and make sure to keep it at optimum temperature.

Works as advertized.
So, last Christmas, I got a keg for the extended family for the holiday week. I put the keg in a deep bucket and filled it with ice. Even in the cold of winter, the ice still melted within hours, raising the temperature of the beer. But, no worries with the Powerblanket! With the ice packs surrounding the keg, and the thermal blanket surrounding the ice packs, my recent keg stayed below 48 degrees for 10 hours. I do recommend starting with an ice cold keg, and keeping it OUT of direct sunlight. Also, wrap your tap in ice or an ice pack to alleviate the dreaded First Cup of Foam. AND, if you're going to want to keep the keg going longer, invest in a second set of ice packs so you swap them every 8 hours to ensure a nice chill. In my test, the Powerblanket worksedas promised.
