Better than the metal ones...& a few helpful techniques
I really value quality when I'm buying a tool. I was hesitant towards this one because I generally prefer metal over plastic, but after doing some research I found that this style was recommended by a large number of people. The reason is because it has a much larger chamber and, therefore, much greater suction. It worked really well to get the solder off, but here are a few tips that helped me. 1) I noticed it was losing suction after a few uses and I opened it up and realized the o-ring didn't fit that tight and was only lightly coated with oil. I recoated it with plumber's silicon grease (Vaseline would probably work too) and it has worked great ever since. I put it on my hand and I could feel it suck my skin in the nozzle (it's pretty powerful, but didn't seem so powerful that it would cause damage or anything). So clean and regrease if you ever have problems. 2) The solder HAS TO BE HOT. I found that the best way was to apply heat, melt the solder, and then while my iron is still in the edge of the solder put the nozzle of the pump in the solder (pushing the soldering iron tip out of the way) and fire it immediately. The nozzle seems to withstand heat well and has shown no sign of heat damage. The technique took a little getting use to, but once I got it it was easy. Better than always buying tons of solder wick. 3) When I was doing some research on them I came across a youtube video showing this one. Cant beat these
Hold up well when maintained.i use these very hard get abouta year outta them i suppose.dont tryto cut corners like i did recently i had another brand that was real junk.

Best value per dollar
This isn't the cheapest model out there, but I think it's one of the better options. I have this model and another cheaper one ($5 'add-on item' desoldering pump I got from Amazon). This one is significantly better. The tip is removable, it pulls a higher volume of air and with greater force than most other desoldering pumps I've used. The only potential issue that I can think of is that it's larger than the cheaper ones (13" from the tip to the top of the plunger)--if you have tiny hands it might be a bit awkward to use. I love it though.

The best Non-electric desoldering pump ever
This is the best non-electric desoldering pump I have ever used. I had one for many years that finally broke and I bought other more expensive pumps that did not work as well and broke quickly. I was very glad to see this on Amazon. It is a little large to carry in a tool bag but the smaller ones just don't work well at all since the vacuum chamber is so small.

Worked Great
The product worked great. It has a lot of suction and took off the solder I was desoldering very well. It is pretty big, though. So you have to put the soldering iron down and use both hands to depress the plunger again instead of being able to do it with one hand.

Hard to beat for the price
I bought this spring-loaded desoldering pump to add to the 8 others I have that still work great, but this was on sale and one can never have too many at hand, can you? I always coat the inside with a thin layer of silicone grease, just like my vacuum powered models that use a steel spring to collect the solder which you need to clean off after each use. The silicone grease makes this a breeze and I found it works great. if you don't overdo it, with the spring-loaded suction ones as well. Too much and it can slow the plunger, just enough and it keeps an airtight seal and cleaning can be as simple as tapping it after taking it apart. This one seems to be exactly like the 2 other large solder suckers I have, which is both a good and bad thing. Bad thing first, they always seem to be a little slower than their smaller counterparts, the good thing is that can be in your favor as it will suck for longer. I just find that means the rate at which it sucks in the air is faster than the smaller ones, but not as much as one may expect. You could change this if need be, just change or add to the spring so there is a greater force when it is released. It definitely looks better than my blue and yellow one (oh Hakko, you and your crazy colours), and for now, work better, but seeing as you suck up hot molten metal with the thing, only time will tell if this one degrades any faster. I definitely wouldn't have got it if it wasn't on sale, but am quite happy with the purchase I did make.

Fits
The problem with solder suckers is the tips wear out and finding a replacement is a real pain. With all the knock-offs, a replacement tip is hard to find. This one fit and saved me having to buy a completely new one.

vraiment mal chier, le bouton est mal positionner et quand on fait pression pour aspirer l'aspiration pers de sa force a cause que le déclencheur est a même le piston... et du même coup on se retrouve a bouger, une chance que sa ne sert pas pour du travail de précision! sarcasme...
