The pump met the expectations.
To inflate an air mattress for outdoor use.

Good Little Pump for Motorcycle Camping!
I bought this pump to fill a big air mattress that I intend to use for motorcycle camping. I have installed 12-volt accessory outlets on all of my bikes, so I no longer have to use a pump powered by 'D' cell batteries. I figured a 12-volt pump would be a better solution. It is. The pump itself is tiny, considerably smaller than the plug-in pump that came with mattress. Small is good -- takes up less space on the bike. The pump has an on-off switch -- not absolutely necessary, but nice to have. The pump comes with a 10-foot-long power cord, which should be long enough. It has a standard automobile accessory socket (cigarette lighter) plug. I replaced that plug with the smaller type which fits the accessory sockets on my bikes. (If you do that, watch the polarity. The pump definitely blows harder when it is wired correctly.) My air mattress is nominally 72 inches long by 60 inches wide by 22 inches high -- queen size. But being almost 2 feet high it does take a lot of air to blow it up. The Coghlan's pump can fill that mattress in less than 10 minutes, and fill it very firmly. I see no need to 'top up' the mattress, and that is a very good thing. Deflating the mattress with the pump actually takes longer, if you want to really flatten it. About 15 minutes. Although the pump was working hard and running for a long time, it didn't get hot. It drew about 4 amps (48 watts) tops. Its noise output was in the Dustbuster range -- acceptable. The only thing I could pick at is the fact the adapter that fit the pump up to the mattress' fill port wasn't a snug fit. I can't really blame that on Coghlan's. A couple wraps of vinyl tape around the adapter nozzle added a critical few thousandths of an inch to its diameter and made for a nice airtight fit. Problem solved. How long will this pump last? Good question. I'm hoping it will last a good long time. I'm also hoping it won't quit without warning. That could make for an uncomfortable night! But as cheap as these pumps are I could buy a spare, and as small as they are I could pack it, just in case.

Are You Kidding Me!?
If you're looking for something to inflate your kayak with, this is it! It's the size of both of my fists put together, making it extremely travel-friendly. Also adding to its benefits of convenience is the "no cords" factor. Running on 4 D batteries, I don't have to charge the pump or plug it into anything for it to work. Wherever your body goes, this can go with you. As I was worried it wouldn't inflate my kayak enough to make a difference, match the air valves, pump quick enough, or last long enough, my first use proved my decision to get this pump a much better idea than I had imagined. It inflated all three compartments of my kayak in less than 4 minutes to a point I could easily, tightly top off each section with 3 or less breaths of air with no dizziness. The pump barely became warm in my hand throughout its use. Two of the end-of-pump attachments matched my kayak so perfectly, I had to recheck the pump's brand name while for a moment I had briefly mistaken it for a Coleman®, alike the brand of my kayak (Coleman Tahiti(TM) 2-Person Fishing Kayak). It also deflates the kayak to a point I can roll it up and fit it into ONE suitcase along with the pump itself, two life vests, and two quick release paddles! (I can now travel out of country with it and not have to worry about another country's difference in type of electric outlet). Even better, I have fully inflated and deflated the kayak 5 times and the first round of batteries are still kicking as strong as the pump. It deflates just as fast and strong as it inflates, but in a shorter period of time because simply unplugging the kayak air values naturally releases about half of the air before I even attach the pump. The only thing I can think that could possibly make this better is if it were waterproof. But for now, it is small enough that we can place it inside of a freezer zip bag, into another freezer zip bag, into another which does the trick so we can bring it wherever we go on the kayak.

No electricity? No problem!
I was a little hesitant to get this air pump simply because I didn't know if it could handle pumping up our extra large queen mattress as well as two twins running on battery. Our mattresses are the kind that have the built-in air pump, but you need to have electricity to plug them in (obviously), and we were camping at a site that not only didn't have electricity, but we had to carry our gear to the site after parking our car (too) far away, unable to utilize the A/C receptacle our cars are fortunate to have. The only gripe I have is the attachments that come with this - there are three different size nozzles to choose from - none of which fit the mattress plug to keep the air going into the mattress vs. leaking out all around the nozzle. So it took a little patience (and holding the nozzle and air pump firm, blocking the leakage with my hands) to get the air in, but it did ultimately work. The size configuration of the nozzle adapters is the only thing that knocks one star off this air pump. I was worried about battery power lasting, and it certainly does - in fact, the batteries still had plenty of power to fill up the kids' mattresses to do a camp out in the backyard a week or so later - and that was after we borrowed the batteries for a battery powered lantern we used throughout the weekend, since we forgot to buy enough batteries for both. Word to the wise, though - if you have long hair, make sure you hold this thing away from you, or it will try to eat your hair where the intake fan is. Ahem.

Portable
Works great and very portable. Make sure you use alkaline or high drain rechargeable batteries. I use it to inflate, deflate a kayak.

Save money and give it a try
Works great!! When I was shopping for this I was surprised how many air mattress pumps aren't battery operated. When we go camping, we camp without a/c access; considering we had to buy $15 in D batteries we wanted to buy the cheaper pump (this cost about half the price of the Coleman pump). Blew up a single air mattress in 2 minutes and a double in less than 5. It also has a deflate feature for quick camp dismantling.

Ok for the price
Works ok but over-heated while pumping up an inflatable boat. Did cool down and work again after about 10 minutes.
