Pretty good watch overall, GPS is very inaccurate
I intentionally chose this older M model even though the M2 was recently released. For some reason, it seems many manufacturers are putting non-smooth patterns around the frame around the watch face these days, which just invites chips, snags, and scratches on the watch or any surfaces it brushes up against while wearing it. Knowing I selected the two-year-old model, I'm still happy with this watch overall. I like the style, the smooth metal frame around the watch face, many of its features, and I didn't care to have the extra bells and whistles added to the M2 which I don't need on a watch. It has some glitches as I'm sure all of these watches have, it has poor GPS accuracy, and I do wish it offered a watch face option that showed a live summary of time spent in all training zones while you're in a workout (like my ancient Polar RCX3), but overall I'm very pleased with the watch and its capabilities. I wear a Polar H10 heart rate monitor strap for better accuracy while working out, but I do use the built-in optical HR sensor when doing things when my arms are stable such as riding my bike or taking a walk or working outside. I do wish it had an option to show seconds on the default "time" watch face like my old Polar RCX3. It also would be nice if I could add custom sport profiles with my own names instead of having to choose from the pre-defied list. I also wish the battery life were better on all these watches and the GPS were more accurate like on my phone. I really appreciate the zone pointer option for the customizable watch faces and the overall flexibility of the watch face options themselves. Other than the lack of a training zone summary watch face option, I like the available watch face features. Overall I'm very happy with the features of the watch and confident I made the right choice getting the M instead of the M2 to avoid the jagged watch face frame and the extra bells and whistles I don't care to have.

Nothing beats a Polar
This is about the 7th Polar Heart Rate Monitor I have had over the years and it maintains the the very high level of quality that I have come to know.

Excellent fitness tracking, weak display
Having used only polar products for the last 10+ years I wanted to try getting away from the chest strap heart monitor that I find mildly annoying and uncomfortable. There are several reviews indicating that this watch did not monitor their heart rate accurately, so I was a little hesitant to try this. I've now used it once while also wearing my H7 Bluetooth chest strap with the polar beat app. I ran about 35 minutes on a treadmill. For the first couple minutes I noticed the watch heart rate was about 5-10 bpm lower than the chest strap, which is an unacceptable deviation. I tightened the wrist band one notch making the watch completely taught on my wrist. After that the Vantage M measured basically the same heart rate as the chest strap. Max HR measured by H7 was 154, Vantage M 155. Average HR was 142 for both devices. See attached graph for real time comparison. Wearing the watch that tight is not a problem while exercising, but I'm not sure if I like it to wear all day as a general fitness tracker. I'm still on the first day and I've been regularly fussing with it and shifting it around. The other complaint I have is the display. It is VERY dim and dull. Photos of the watch show a very bright and vivid color display. I'm honestly wondering if mine is defective. And the back light (necessary at night) adds a blue tint to it. I tried taking a photo but the camera automatically boosted the light and colors and made it look nice like all of the ads. In conclusion I haven't owned it long enough to say whether I recommend it or not. I also have never worn any kind of wrist based daily fitness gear for comparison. I love the data and tracking which is why I still give it 4 stars, but I think you can get the same data from a chest strap and Polar beat app.

Great watch!
I purchased the Polar Vantage M last August. I figured I would wait and do a review after I had enough experience using this watch. I have worn this watch everyday for the past year and it has held up great! I am a runner, I run almost daily and I practically never take it off other than to charge it and the band is just now starting to show some signs of wear mainly around the buckle. Sleep tracking is excellent! I usually can tell without the watch the way I slept and it always aligns with how I feel if I slept good or bad. I saw one review where the user stated the watch screen was too dim, its really not. Thats typically standard for fitness watches on the market. If you want something with a brighter screen purchase the Apple Watch. I will say however it is not as bright as what is depicted in the photos. There are only two downsides after a year of wear 1. The face scratches fairly easy. I got a pretty decent scratch on the face early last year. I have no idea how I got but if it was a hard hit or I dropped it I would remember. But I should have bought I screen protector. Definitely not the watches fault 2. The cardio load seems to be a bit inaccurate. There are somedays where I have trained a bunch and my body definitely feels like it. The watch states I am under training. Again not a big deal. I just listen to my body and dont really pay much attention that feature. Overall great watch I would highly recommend to anyone out there looking at a fitness watch. One other note, the Polar Flow app is very user friendly and extremely detailed when tracking training.

Steep learning curve
This showed up quick and was exactly what I was looking for....it just took a lot of research to prove that it was what I wanted! Just getting notifications from my phone to show up too a few internet searches and a youtube video or two. This is not intuitive at all. I had a fitbit that was way easier to learn, but so far this is much more durable than the fitbit.

Excellent produit
J'adore!

heart rate monitor
I run twice per week ; the heart rate monitor does not work when you are running strenusouly and balancing the arms. moves /freeze in red zone. I have talked to POLAR several times. now I give up. They keep saying I need to reset the watch but it does not change anything. I think they know that their technology does noyt work reliably. it only works when you are rest or walking. You can tighten the wrist band but it does not chnage much. back lighhting too faint GPS OK

Exactly as described, lite and functional, good app, easy to setup and use
Exactly as described Lite and functional Watch was easy to setup and use straight out of the box App is easy to use I’ve found the HR monitor to be accurate against a chest strap for steady running. HR wavers a bit with HIIT work outs but that’s a known issue with all optical sensors.
