Line counter reels

I purchased 2 xx small covers. One for my squall 20 and one for my warfare 20. Both reels have line counters and are level winds. I went to the Penn website to match my the covers with my reels but could not find a match for the warfare 20 (maybe I missed the chart for the warfare 20 and line counter) but the 2 reels are really close in size. I did find one which the Penn website showed xxsm for a squall 20 lwlc. I had a hard time getting the cover over the line counter and fits awkward and the velcro strap just catches the other side. If I didn't have the line counter the cover they would have fit perfectly. I will use these covers and modify them but for the people out there with line counters on their reels looking for the perfect fit, you might be disappointed.

Order Next Size Up

I got ahold of Penn about proper size for my reel. They were way off. Order next size up for proper fit. Other than that....nice reel cover

Good protection for reel

Good protection for reel. Don't know why Penn couldn't just post the attached list/picture of which cover size is recommended on which of their reels.

Made well but sizing seems a bit off I have a Penn Squall 20 Level Wind (SQL20LW) & Penn Squall 30 Level Wind (SQL30LW) fishing reel and the recommended size cover of XXS is very, very snug. It barely fits the Penn Squall 20 Level Wind and there is no way it will ever fit the Penn Squall 30 Level Wind without tearing. I suggest going a size up with the Squall 20 (Size XS) and maybe 2 sizes up for the Squall 30 (Size S). I hope this helps my fellow anglers out there.

I've had better, this does not accommodate line travel.

This cover only fits a GT320GTI if the GT320GTI has no line on it and is NOT attach to a fishing rod. Most fisherman want/need a cover that covers their reel when transporting to fishing destination. This means - the Reel is mounted ON the rod and the line is fed through the eyes of the fishing pole. This cover does NOT offer this protection as mentioned above. Next time I'm going to go with the LARGER model. Maybe this way I will be able to leave the Reel on the Rod with line fed out. Shimano and the other cover manufactures (Jaws) accomplish it with no problem at all. Their covers accommodate the "line" travel with a cut-out. With Penn, you're going to have to "slit" part of the cover for the line that feeds out through the eyes of the rod. Or your cover will not sit correctly on reel. Attached pictures show comparison between Penn (black cover) and "Jaws" (Blue cover - another manufacture). Notice the special cut in the Jaws model for line travel on the fishing pole. On the Penn reel there is no such special cut, it probably will not last that long.
