Funtional and Economical. Not perfect.
I bought this to separate my frogs from the goldfish I don't want them to eat. The picture on the box is misleading as there would be no way to install the sides and then slide the middle piece down. You have to unroll the middle plastic piece (with the holes) and attach the blue side pieces (which is not that easy). I didn't even use the top and bottom pieces. The divider I got was a bit wide for my 29 gallon and I could have cut it down and made it fit perfectly straight. I could have also taken more time to get the bottom nice and straight but I wedged it in and down in the gravel and it's doing the job of keeping the critters on separate sides of the tank. Since most tank frames are black, I wish this was in a black plastic to match my tank- I might even consider leaving it in permanently if it was black. The clips do interfere with the fit of my hood but just a little. Since I'm not planning to leave it in permanently, I think it's fine. Now I'm just waiting for my fantails to get too big to be frog food.

Flimsy, cheap plastic design, not easy to fit tightly to sides of aquarium, metal clips not well designed...
I was pretty disappointed with this product. Probably the lowest quality product I have bought for any of my 7 tanks. Although I did get it to work, kind of. The clips that hold it in place are metal, and moving them around can scratch the plastic frame of the aquarium. They also interfere with my glass canopy, preventing it from shutting tightly, and leaving a gap that will cause more evaporation of my tank water. Using multiple suction cups on the sides would be a way better design than employing these metal clips. Also, on the sides, the divider is just supposed to be jammed in with no suction cups or any way of ensuring a tight seal on either side. I secured mine as best I could with a pile of gravel on either side holding it in place, but I expect to lose some of my tiny black convict cichlid fry to big fish on the other side when they inevitably find gaps. I already had one small tiger barb wiggle through from the other side, and he faced an immediate beating from the protective father of the convict fry. Also, my banded leporinus jumped over the top, so you have to make sure divider is positioned high enough that it is above the water, or alternatively, that the canopy touches it when closed. Doable if you have a deep substrate layer in your 55 gallon, as there is just enough divider material to eliminate the risk of fish jumping over or sneaking under. Anyway, if you want a divider for breeding purposes, this isn't a great one. If you just want to separate one nasty, big fish from the rest of the fish in your tank, it may work ok. Still, I could envision a big fish eventually knocking it loose if they get emboldened to keep ramming into it, as the material is so flimsy.

This divider is sturdy enough (it is a plastic material NOT mesh) to ...
I have a 55 gallon tank with a 3-D 1/4" rock background. We have an Oscar on 2/3 of the tank and guppies, shrimp, and tetras on the other 1/3. This divider is sturdy enough (it is a plastic material NOT mesh) to hold back our hungry oscar, while still allowing flow from one side of the tank to the other. We have an external canister filter, so our input on one end of the tank and our output on the other. I haven't noticed any build up of debris on the divider. I was afraid our 3-d rock background would cause an issue, but the divider just bows a little in the middle which is fine. The only issue is that it could've been just a few inches taller. Luckily we have a lot of sediment so that it can fill in the gap at the bottom. I just have to watch my fish and make sure they don't burrow under it. I do wish that is wasn't bright blue.... We strive to make our tank very natural. We have aragonite sand, mopani driftwood, live plants, and a 3-d rock background, so the bright blue tank divider kind of takes away from that. Overall, a great buy for the price!

It will work but hard to place
I wanted it to divide the tank and allow water to flow between. Well it dose that. But very hard to get in right. Does serve its purpose but I do wish it was flat and not rolled. Hard to keep straight. It wants to roll back. Even with the supports.

Working great so far.
I have a smaller 5 gal aquarium I was planning to set up for two male bettas. I haven't got the bettas yet, they are due to arrive this Tuesday. But so I have a glo fish, 2 ghost shrimp, 2 algae eaters, 2 snails and a couple of aquatic plants. This product has been great at keeping firmly stationary in the center of my tank. I had to do some cutting to modify it to fit, but it was not difficult to do at all. I have a small gap at the top of one end of the divider, but so far it has been great at keeping the glo fish and the ghost shrimp on their prospective sides of the tank. The snails and algae eaters have been able to sneak back and forth to each side of the tank which I have no issues with. I have read some of the others reviews about using this for bettas, so I am a little leery how well my two bettas will do once they are let loose in this aquarium. I am hoping they will not be over stressed with being able to see through the divider. But just in case, tomorrow I am heading to purchase a 25 gal aquarium I had already planned to purchase. So if they get to stressed, I will just move them to the larger aquarium and use this or another like product to separate them.

Good divider, need a filter for each side.
I needed to separate my cichlids from some new additions. Used in a 55 gallon tank, I had to take out some water to make sure they couldn't swim over the top as the divider didn't quite get to the top. My full grown bumblebee hit the divider many times and it stayed firm, never budged, you do need to mess with the edges to get them the right width. The only thing I didn't like is how small the holes are on this divider, you have to make sure you have a filter on each side because this divider barely allows water, let alone any extra stuff. I had to put in my backup filter because after 1 week the side with no filter was filthy.

Rubbish
Good idea, rubbish product. After a few months the screen disintegrated allowing my Siamese Fighter to squeeze through a hole and fight with the fish on the other side. Both fish have had most of their tail fins shredded, but fortunately no fatalities. This has happened with both the dividers I purchased. I would not recommend this product.
