Prodotto in Giappone

Fast and light
I bought these for spring training with my gravel bike on the road. Amazing road feel with extra shock absorbing of a wider tire.

Overall a great tire…installing is unnecessarily difficult
I actually love these tires for gravel riding. They are low profile, grip well, last a good while and are tough. I’ve never had one rip or get pierced by rocks or other road debris. Overall, I love the tire and keep buying them again. That said, they are exceedingly difficult to put on and take off. There is no other tire that I struggle to put on and take off as much as this one. Most tires I can take off and install without tools. This one needs a cantilevered tool to get on. If I ever get a flat on the road, I’m toast. I don’t think there’s any chance I could replace a tube with this tire on while on the road. I need the specialized cantilevered tool and a solid half hour of fiddling. Perhaps this isn’t everyone’s experience, but it’s mine with every copy of this tire. That said, outside of install and removal, I still love the tire and keep buying it hoping they’ll loosen up a future version just a tad.

Miracle Tires. Love them
Here's the short version first... These tires are great. Several reviewers said they had difficulty installing them, that they fit tightly. I didn't have that problem. I was able to get them seated with no difficulty or struggle using my fingers only. In fact, they went on easier than most tires I've used (25 years biking experience). I'm running them with tubes on a 2018 Specialized Diverge. Here's the longer version... I've been biking since the late 1980s, both road bikes and mountain bikes, but mostly road. Anyhow, the conventional wisdom for bike tires for most of my life has been that narrower, higher pressure, harder tires ran the most efficiently. I took a few years off from biking when I had kids and came back only to find out that wider tires are now a thing, that a wider lower pressure tire actually has less rolling resistance than a narrow tire. Could this be true? I bought a gravel/adventure because I only have room for one bike and I wanted a do-it-all machine, but I hesitated to put on wide tires. For over a year I rode it with its stock 30mm tires. Anyhow, after much research, and reading hipster bike blogs, I finally decided to pull the trigger on these Panaracer Gravel King tires and bought a set of 38mm tires. OMG! These thick tires are the greatest thing I have ever come across in my biking life. From the moment I first rolled out of my driveway my bike felt completely transformed. They are just as fast as my narrower tires but the bike is so much more lively and smooth riding. I live in the middle of Portland, Oregon, bike city USA. My riding is a mix of urban, countryside, and trail. These tires make all of it more fun. After riding narrow tires for so long I had taken for granted the twitchy, nervous nature of riding road tires. With the fatty gravel kings I burn through the rough stuff without a thought. For the first few rides it felt like magic. Something as basic as making a high speed left turn, the looking over the shoulder and cutting between traffic, is so much more confident on a wide tire. I got the slicks but they're still pretty good off road. I took them up a dirt trail with 16% grade and there was no slipping.

Want to love them, they make it hard to.
Let me start by saying this is my first set of slick tubeless tires. I usually run continental road tires and had been running gator skins but wanted to go tubeless. Now I’m not saying these tires should be as tough as gator skins, so I’m aware of that out of the gate. I run the Gravelking SK’s when I’m out adventuring more but wanted a set of slicks for road riding. I purchased the 700x35’s and these were super easy to mount. Filled them with Orange Seal endurance and let them sit for a few days before I was able to get out for an initial ride. The tires felt great on the road, the higher volumes allowed me to run at a lower pressure which greatly increased the comfort. I ride in the mountains of East Tennessee and there are tons of chipseal and loose asphalt roads around here and I felt super stable taking corners at speed and confident braking on downhills. I thought I was going to be a panaracer convert for road tires after today’s ride! I thought that maybe other folks that complained about the puncture resistance just caught some bad luck. Now I’m not saying these are bad tires, however with less than 5 miles to go I heard the dreaded ppsssshhhhhh. So I pulled over and inspected the damage. Clear puncture right in the middle of the tire. Nothing remained in the hole so I let the sealant go to work. Once the hole sealed I was able to finish my ride. I initially inflated to 60 psi for my ride and still had 35-40 psi in the tire after the hole sealed. The puncture seems to have sealed nicely but I wish I would’ve had a dyna plug with me. Let’s just say that ones in order. Final review: Good tires, easy to mount, grippy enough for the road, and hardpack gravel. Comfortable tires but I’m not super confident in them. I’ll give them another shot but if another puncture happens next ride, then these tires are coming off.

Excellent road tires
I love these tires. They roll nicely, they don't feel stiff at all, while offering good puncture protection and excellent cushioning on rough patches.

Fast rolling, but bad tubeless set up with modern rim widths
Basically a road tire for gravel bikes. The tread pattern is very fast rolling, basically a slick, but in 38c width - ideal for my use case where my gravel bike is used for 75% road/25% hard packed smooth dirt roads. Biggest problem is the bead on the tires is so loose that they’re nearly impossible to set up tubeless on modern, wider rims. I tried setting up tubeless on two different wheelsets, 25mm and 23mm internal hooked rims respectively, and only could get 1 of my 2 to set up tubeless after a lot of fighting and extra wraps of rim tape. I believe they will set up tubeless if you’re running older, narrower internal width rims (maybe 20mm or narrower), but on modern wider gravel rims, you’re likely to run into the same issues I had with tubeless setup.

Fast but caused a lot of problems
This tyre definitely made my gravel bike quicker but you don't want to be installing it or changing it unless you are a pretty expert bike mechanic. It fits the rim so tightly that I got pinch punctures in 3 inner tubes levering it on (over the course of a month). I'm no mechanic, but I've never had that problem before. I lost my patience after the 4th mystery puncture and replaced it. I don't know if the tyre is to blame but I can say that my bike has had no problems since I changed back.

horrible shipping to Canada for half of the order, quality control...
That is the second set of Gravelking I order since I liked them so much. So I ordered 2 MPR Gravelking 700X28 from the same seller. The first tire took >>2 days<< to arrive to my place in perfect condition, mounted on the wheel, no problem. The other one took >>1 MONTH<< to arrive and had a slash cut on the sidewall, tire has been shipped in a white plastic envelope and it was not damage at the opening of the envelope, it looks like an exacto cut (or a defect in the rubber) on the sidewall that was well away from being cut since those tire are folded when shipped. So I returned for an exchange and the second tire took >>2 WEEKS

Pretty good traction for a low profile tread tire
I have a road bike that I used for hard packed trail and light gravel. I was using an urban/commuter tire (Kenda Kwest) and slipping a bit around corners so wanted to look for a gravel/trail tire but have limited clearance on my bike. These fit that need pretty good actually at 700x28C. I still dont have the grip I want on light gravel however you cant expect that from this tire given the low profile tread design. In addition, these tires roll faster and smoother on the road then the commuter tire I was using. In summary, worked well for my need but they are a bit pricey - we will see how long they last - I have only ridden about 100kms so far.

Nice tire that runs narrow
I'm giving the product 5 stars because the tires are great. They roll fast and allow you to go through light gravel. I bought the 26c size but in reality the tire measured around 24.5 mm. So if you're limited by frame size to a 25c tire, you may be able to get away with buying the 26c version of this tire.
