fantastic control
What a fantastic paddle! I almost hesitate to share this review because I'd rather let my competition keep buying Stigas, LOL. But in the end I feel blessed to have tried this, and would like others to share in that blessing. About me: I'm an OK player, played casually for many years, who can beat maybe 60% of the players at my office. I sometimes got great shots but my consistency has always been terrible, so finally decided to step up and buy a serious bat to compete with. All the serious players at the office have their own bats. After lots of research, I bought this Palio Expert 2 as well as a custom-made setup from colestt (the "buster" combo). I also tried the Stiga Pro Carbon which most of the top players at the office have, as well as some other brands lying around. I wanted to like the colestt racket, but truly I can say this Palio Expert 2 was without question far superior to any other for me -- I actually had a radical breakthrough within 30 minutes of using it! This racket is the heaviest of the lot, which I imagine is perhaps a disadvantage at a certain skill level, but at my level the control and touch this thing offers is completely unmatched by any other racket. And feedback -- I can truly feel what I did wrong in a shot because this thing has fantastic haptic (tactile) feedback. Hence the immediate breakthrough -- within minutes it was obvious to me what I'd been doing wrong for years and years, and guided by this feedback, suddenly everything clicked. My spins worked, my forehand loop worked, everything just worked like a dream. And my opponents hits suddenly became easy to return, because this racket somehow absorbs what they give so that even if my shot form isn't perfect, it still lands beautifully. Maybe that's the advantage of its heft? Not sure why but I LOVE the results. And after this breakthrough, I now play better with other rackets too by consciously applying what I realized from this one to the others, but I still play best and most naturally with this one because of that sensory feedback and the very forgiving heft. It's truly the best I've ever used, by a large margin! I'd say my shot accuracy and consistency has gone from 50% to 90%. The fear is gone -- most shots I know now will probably land. What a feeling that is! I haven't yet played in a big office tournament with the new racket, but so far in casual games I've been getting some lopsided victories. I don't know what is meant by the term "speed" but I gather this racket is not "speedy". But I don't really know what that's about, because I can slam and the ball will go perfectly fast as with any other racket. Anyway, whatever speed is, I've heard that it is the enemy of control, and the control I get with this racket is unparalleled for me, so I'll pick control over speed any day. After all, actually hitting the table is my top goal in any shot.

These are great bats for beginners and intermediates (inconsistent from one to another)
These are great bats for beginners and intermediates. Good spin and control with less speed. Perfect for working on new strokes / techniques. My game has improved since switching to this bat. I have let a few people try it at my work and a few people ended up purchasing them as well. The first one I got was perfect. I use this one at work. I wanted another one for home use so, I purchased another one. This one arrived with some air pockets, or bumps on the black side rubber. I returned it to Amazon and purchased another. This replacement also had a small bump near one edge on the black side rubber. It was not bad enough to return it and has been doing fine. I would have given this 5 stars had it not been the issue with the rubbers. ***Update*** I personally have 3 of these bats. One for work, one for home and one for my wife. They all play a little differently, this could be from the differences in the wood of the blades. However, I have found that there are two different sponge hardnesses. Sponges are different colors as well. I think this has more to do with the inconsistency than the actual blade. I am knocking off another star due to the inconsistency with the rubbers used. I got all of the bats/rackets together and practiced. These for sure have different hardness of sponges. One of them has soft rubbers and it is great. The other two have a harder sponge and while they are still okay, they play very differently than the one with soft rubber. If you prefer a softer sponge, (which gives a lot more control and makes looping so much easier) make sure your racket has a red/pink looking sponge under the red rubber. If it is yellowish, or off-white, you probably have a harder sponge. If it works for you, then you are set. For those beginners and intermediates trying to achieve consistent loops, be sure your has the soft sponge. Either way, these are great rackets for the money. If you really want to learn to brush the ball the softer rubber will make life easier on you. ***Update #2***. I reached out to the seller and so far the have been great to deal with. I have added another star back due to their prompt response and their willingness to make things right.

A Whole New Realm of "Ping Pong" Well Worth the Price of Admission
I'll begin with a few statements overheard during the first match using these paddles: "I feel like I am holding a magic wand of Ping Pong." "These paddles make this a totally different game." "I am realizing that I am holding a secret weapon and I have no idea how to use it." After wearing out the stock (and decent) paddles that came with our table through two years of many table tennis matches per week, we ordered two Palio Expert 2 paddles through Amazon and anticipated their arrival like Christmas. Upon arrival, we put them to the test and played 6 matches with the new paddles. The difference was astounding. It elevated the game to a new level, raised our heart rates, tested our reflexes, and gave us a new level of control that will take some time to master. We are not professional table tennis folks. We are not competitive outside of our own basement. But the money spent on these two paddles has revolutionized our matches, brought new and exciting challenge to our level of playing, and opens a door to a whole new level of skill and competition. In summary - these are WELL worth the price paid, and trump any paddle I have ever used at any price.

Overall Balanced Racket
I was an intermediate player during my school days. At present working as a lecturer and we group of some lecturers play tt in our college. Initially I was using stag ninja fire but it lacked control. So I decided to move on from this racket and started searching for the racket which can give all round performance. So my searching stopped here. It took me 3 days to adjust with racket (thanks to my coach who trained during my school days). Now the control is much much better. Speed is good. Spin is better. Control is best. However no racket in this world can be consider best as it depends on the player's style which suits him/her accordingly. It suits me very well and I am very confident with my shots. May be some people find the sound odd as when ball hit the bat but one can be used to with it. Thanks to Mellonta Sports as they also mailed me personally and informed that rubbers can be changed with this ply. However rubbers used are of very good quality and it seems that they will last longer.

A different level of play - moving up from sporting good store paddles
I'm writing this review for recreational players that want to move to a more professional paddle. I bought 2 of these to replace our existing paddles with aging rubber. I watched quite a few Youtube videos on moving to more skilled paddles and these are a good starting point. The spin level is insane vs. sporting goods store products, and ping pong becomes a completely different game. The rubber offers great control and we can handle the speed, tough we are not competitive players. The product quality seems quite good - no visible or detectable defects. I saw a few reviews where there are complaints about the rubber ungluing. Table Tennis rubbers are designed to unglue so the rubbers can be replaced, and as such will start to unglue quickly. Also, I assume that the initial tackiness will wear off in a few months of reuglar play, so at that time I will buy another similar rubber. This is not a amateur no-maintenance last-forever paddle.

Honest and Unbiased Review
If you look at the one star reviews on every product you'll never buy one. Now here is an honest unbiased review. First of all it is worth buying, whether or not you are a beginner. It is one of the best you can get at the price. Smashing: 9/10 (VERY GOOD) Accuracy: 10/10 (Just like any other good bat) Grip: 9/10 (Will stick to the case at first but case opens fully anyway, it's been months and it's not sticky anymore but the grip is still there and great) Spin: 8/10 (Can spin REALLY well) Comfort: 6/10, great to use but if you sweat in your hands a lot like me then the handle can start to ridge since it is wooden. Around 1mm of padding has peeled off the wood but it does not effect play AT ALL. Seriously, it doesn't. I saw a review which said it's useless now.. some people. I have used my bat 4 times a week for hours at a time for like 3 months and it still looks like the picture on Amazon (handle is a little more grey from sweat). Terrific first bat, it's light and powerful. Terrific 2nd and 3rd bat too, just a great bat, but if i had the money I would upgrade to one which costs around £120-150. I would pay £80 for this bat.

It's my First Bat and I quite like it
This bat was recommended by multiple websites as a good beginner bat, and I haven't had any issues with that analysis so far. Many of the better players in my club have told me that it's a good bat and that the rubbers can generate lots of spin. It's manufactured in a Chinese-British collaboration, making it one of the two lines of table tennis bats on the market that are British. If you want to support local products, but don't want to pay a premium for an Eastfield Bat, then this is probably your best bet. I read some reviews before purchasing that stated the rubbers were very loosely glued on their bats, I haven't had this issue at all. It's also probably worth mentioning that a lot of rubbers are glued loosely onto bats for easy customisation, if you find yours is badly glued, you can buy a bottle of table tennis bat glue for about £10 or you can simply return the bat and order another one. All in all: Good Bat, no problems.

Excellent control and spin
Excellent control and spin. I did a good amount of research on the internet on what bat to buy. I am a beginner and i don't play so good. i am still learning but this bat has given me some good control and confidence in my stroke making. This is not a fast bat so don't expect the ball to fly of your bat after you hit it. Instead this is a very good beginner to intermediate level professional TT bat which you can even use at tournaments. Some of my friends who aremuch better at table tennis than me and who use custom bats used it for a game and they were really astounded by the amount of control and spin they generated in their shots. The rubber quality and the padding on these bats are top notch. If you;re looking to invest in a good bat and learn overtime as you play look no forward than Palio Expert 2. Trust me i was in the same confusion of should i go with Stiga or GKI or Donic but in the end i am glad i purchased Palio. Cheers!
