On the petite side
This set is well crafted, as I would expect from this brand. Giving it four stars instead of five may reflect no more than a personal preference, rather than quality of the set. But the forks and spoons seem to me to be on the "petite" side, certainly not ones that would work as well for someone with larger hands. My preference is for larger, more substantial utensils.

Elegant, substantial, and simply beautiful!
This review is for the Oneida Pearce 20-piece set from their fine flatware collection. The Pearce set features a slightly elongated head and long, slender handles that gently taper to squared-off ends. To me, the simple yet elegant design, combined with quality materials and finish, resonates as "everyday luxury." As I unboxed this product, the first thing that struck me was how beautiful the mirror finish looked. I've been using "polished" flatware for years, so holding the spoon and seeing my distorted reflection along with the lights and surroundings in the room was mesmerizing. In hand, the pieces are hefty, but the weight is perfectly balanced, making it easy to handle. In terms of price and value, I think the Oneida Pearce 20-piece set is good overall for fine flatware. You get four complete five-piece settings: a salad fork, dinner fork, teaspoon, soup spoon, and knife, each costing roughly $37.50, which is average for the category. Oneida also has a more affordable everyday collection that sells for just a fraction of the price though they're often made from 18/0 stainless steel. Although it doesn't say, I suspect the pieces are forged instead of stamped, and since it's made from 18/10 stainless steel, this should be very durable and long-lasting. Oneida offers a good warranty and even a replacement service, and I appreciate how some of their serving sets can have matching designs with flatware. Notes: 1) Oneida was founded in the USA more than 150 years ago and is now a subsidiary of Lenox Corporation. This product was made in Vietnam. 2) While dishwasher safe, the care instructions have specific recommendations for keeping this flatware looking new. Some interesting suggestions include avoiding detergents with citrus additives and avoiding letting flatware soak overnight or leaving it unwashed overnight.

How to know if you're buying flatware that will hold up, or just start to rust in a short time.
The trick to knowing if your flatware is going to hold its luster and shine, and not end up rusting over time is knowing how much chromium and nickel make up the stainless steel. Recently, I was looking at this set and comparing it to a luxury name brand set and was surprised to see that even though this set is a more every-day brand, this set was much higher quality. Flatware comes in either 18/0, 18/8 or 18/10. The 18 is how much chromium makes up the metal, and the second number is how much nickel is included. The higher the nickel, the brighter the luster and shine, and more rust resistant the pieces will be. So when you see flatware sets that have the same number of pieces, but one set costs more than the other, check the stainless steel numbers and see if one has a higher amount of nickel. This set by Oneida is made with 18/10, which is the highest amount of nickel included, and you can see it first hand in the bright luster of the flatware's finish. The pieces are all beautiful and amazing. If you want your utensils to stay rust free and come out of the dishwasher looking like brand new for years, you'll want a set made of 18/10. If you're looking for something more in the middle. A set where you can get more pieces for your money, but also have a decent amount of rust resistance, 18/8 is still pretty good. The luster on 18/8 tends to wear off quicker but it takes a while for rust spots to appear. Flatware that's 18/0 will typically get those little rust spots pretty quickly if you're putting them in the dishwasher, read the fine print because a lot of 18/0 sets you're looking at aren't actually dishwasher safe, for this very reason. Some are, but it doesn't mean they won't rust in a short time.

Elegant and sturdy
This silverware set is in typical fashion of Oneida's quality. Beautiful craftsmanship with just the right amount of weight to them. They have a mirror finish, and are silky smooth. I was a little worried that the handles would not be wide enough for a nice grip, but they are perfect. Because of their high shine, they do show any kind of fingerprint though. It is also recommended that you hand wash and dry them. I find them to be more for formal meals, rather than everyday silverware, but I am extremely pleased with them.

Nice flatware set, but not sure if it's worth the price tag.
It has a nice design and the handles are thicker than normal (not a bad thing) and they still stack fairly easily in the silverware drawer. Being that these are made of steel, I'm not sure why it has such a high price tag for a service for 4 set; just seems kind of pricey to me. I gave this 5 stars for quality mostly.
