Good belt for running
I really wanted to find a belt that had a big enough pocket to carry my cell phone. This one is big enough, and there is room for my car key and I could probably squeeze in a small wallet or some gels or something like that. It is also a very comfortable belt-- I haven't felt it to be distracting or heavy at all. The only reason I took 1 star away is because the water bottles are a little tricky to deal with. 1. They are actually difficult to drink out of. You have to really squeeze to get water to come out of them. 2. They are hard to put back into their holders-- especially if you are trying to do so without slowing down or stopping your run. I have been running with the water bottles behind me, and it is pretty tricky to get them back into their holders. But all in all, this is a good item. None of the belts on the market seem to be perfect, and neither is this one. But it gets the job done, and I do really like that it can comfortably carry my phone and other small items, while still providing a decent amount of hydration.

Caps leak
I needed a new fuel belt because the Velcro closure on my old belt was worn out. I like this new belt-eady to adjust and comfortable. I don't like the new bottles that came with it. Fluid leaks between the plastic cap and the rubber drink hole. I'll probably use my old bottles in my new belt.

Stable/Secure
Overall, I'm happy with this hydration belt and think it's the best I've tried personally. Pros: The fit is easy to adjust - a single clip in front, two straps to adjust tightness, and just a little elastic to keep things snug The bottles are contoured so they rest flat against your hips/buttocks which minimizes bounce or movement The bottle pockets have hold-down straps to really keep the bottles secure - I can't imagine one accidentally falling out with the lock-down loops on the bottles The bottle valves have a really good style that can be easily pulled open with your teeth and are pretty resistant to leaking. I have a Hoka branded bottle with the same valve, and it was my favorite running water bottle before - mostly because of that really nice valve! Cons: This is the biggest one, and if not for this, would probably be a 5-star item: For the life of me, I can't understand why the only reflective surfaces on this belt are on the sides of the bottle pockets, and the straps that hold the bottle lock-loops, which is literally hidden behind the bottles. Nathan Hydration has long been the brand I've thought of as top of the list for Running specific hydration, so I don't understand why they didn't add reflective material on both the front and the back of the belt, or why they put a reflective surface in an area that isn't even visible. Other small things: The bottles are relatively easy to access, but good luck putting them back while on the move. You'll probably need to stop to put the bottles away because you'll probably need both hands and a pair of eyes to pull it off. The bottles are a slightly odd size - they're like 9 or 10 oz, so if you want to mix your favorite hydration enhancer, you're going to need to do some custom portioning. However, they do have graduated markings, so it would be easy to do 8 & 8 for most of the "16 oz" pre-portioned packets, then do your best to use half of it in each bottle. I still would have liked to see something more like 12 or even a 16 oz bottle. Not really addressed in the rest of my review, but the pocket is plenty big for any cell phone I've seen - easily handles my girlfriend's iPhone 12 Pro Max - but at the largest phones leaves little extra room for running nutrition (GU, etc.). That said, my iPhone 11 Pro leaves plenty of room for at least 4-5+ gels or some gummies, etc. Overall, this is the best hydration belt I've tried by a large margin. I almost feel bad giving it 4 stars instead of 5, but Nathan is, in my mind, a premium brand that should better understand runners' desires for reflective surfaces on items like this.

Convenient 10 oz flasks and phone running belt at a reasonable cost…
Updated review after a 70 minute trail run. I run a lot. Like, every single day on over a year streak kind of “lot.” A few times each week I also run a lot, defined as 2 or more hours on a run kind of “lot.” This many miles and daily abuse is brutal on gear. Update: I clearly condone Nathan products. Except after a 70 minute trail run, I found some really annoying attributes. The bite valve can be a bit tricky on the run. The bottle is stiff, and squeezing water can be tricky due to the stiffness. The holster is soft and collapses, so it is hit and miss replacing. I had to come down to a walk several times to replace the bottle. The flexible cord to lock in the bottle can be tricky as well. I switched out bottles and caps from other Nathan products. Nathan products have never let me down. Well. Ok, that’s not completely true since my previous Nathan belt is having failures with zippers and tears. But hey, after 8 years in service, and worn on at least 3 ultra marathons, that’s hardly “failure.” Delighted with this replacement. The pouch can hold a phone (previous model could at first, but phones grew over 8 years…), and the flasks are standard 10oz with squeeze spouts. Each bottle has a retainer flex loop so all stays secure. For me, the bottles are spaced to ride just on the hips, and having phone and gels in small of back is a comfortable place for them to ride. Belt holds well and band has some flex. Some reflective strips on the the bootle holster. I use hydration vests too for more water capacity, but sometimes it is just nice to not have that burden on the back, or if water stops are frequent enough for 20oz to be enough. 20 oz is not much, but on a well planned training route or in a race where the bottles can be topped off and in between water points, and for the motion of RUNNING, then this belt is a good piece of gear. Most people sweat - on average, but can vary widely based on environment and amount of conditioning - at a rate of 24 to 32 ounces an hour while exercising—and should aim to replace at least 75 percent of that on the run. That means drinking 18 to 24 ounces an hour while running, so 20 oz is in that sweet spot for a trained or conditioned distance runner. Research, and my personal experience, shows, peak water absorption on the run is 5 oz sips every 10-50 minutes. More than that is water belly - or worse pit stop in the bushes - on the run. If you are looking for a canteen for a hike and expect to guzzle water, then this belt ain’t your gig. This belt is distance running gear to maintain hydration, and designed for that specific purpose. I went through all of that since I notice frequent complaints on these types of belts with 10 oz bottles from non distance runners. They are not wrong for hiking and “exercising” - but they definitely are critiquing this tool for the wrong job! As warm weather begins to loom on my long runs, even the early early ones, so glad to have a hydration belt back on the equipment roster for hour runs or runs that allow top off at hour intervals. As always, thumbs up on Nathan hydration products, but I dropped a star due to annoying attributes listed above. I really recommend for trail use the more expensive trail version (which is still 20 oz total of water, which is more or less the “standard” for belt hydration).
