Works Great for Me! Fall Asleep to Music - Wake Up to the Alarm!
UPDATE: At first I left this with a 4 star review but wanted to change it to a 5 star now. My only complaint at the time was that you could not use either the CD player or radio and fall asleep and also have the alarm work in the morning. I have since found that you can! First you have to set your alarm, turn it on then you can turn on either the CD or radio then push the "SLEEP" button that has a timer starting at 90 minutes which you can adjust lower if you like. As long as you have your alarm set to "Buzzer" when the timer counts down it will switch back to the clock and the alarm will go off at the set time. Remember if you have your alarm set to wake you with the CD or radio it will only turn on as loud as you had it set before you went to sleep. This truly is a great little CD and radio Digital Alarm Clock! OK so I know there are a lot of negative reviews about the NAXA digital alarm clock but I have to say that it really does have some nice features. The CD player works great, I get great reception on the radio, IF you read the instructions its really not that hard to figure out. Yes I did have some trouble setting the minutes for the clock but other than that I was able to set every thing else without a problem. Now there is only one thing I don't like about it but can still live with is that you CAN NOT say fall asleep with the CD playing and expect the alarm to wake you in the morning. If you don't have it on the time display the alarm WON'T work. With that being said to me for the price its a great bargain. I did contact NAXA to ask about the alarm working when the CD is being used however their customer service is non existent, the only answer I received back from them was a "return authorization' even though I never asked to return it. If you need something that you can listen too, radio or CD and have the alarm work too this is not for you. If you are looking for a alarm clock/radio/CD player with a small foot print then I would say give it a try. With dual alarm modes and the ability to preset radio stations its a great little unit.

You win some, you lose some
Update on September 15, 2013 i.e. some 8 months later: About 3 weeks ago I noticed that programming the minutes of the alarm, either doesn't take, or changes very slowly after repeated pressing of the button. This looks like a repeat performance of the no name Target model that preceded this one. The button whose function is to be primitively pressed repeatedly to get to the right minute, at times needing as much as 6o (!) presses, loses its edge to do the job. I guess 8 months is as much as it is programmed to last as per recommendation by Management at Naxa. I bought the NAXA CD clock radio to replace a no name brand bought in Target couple of years ago, whose alarm settings started to require using all my strength to push its buttons. Needless to say I did not turn to Target this time around. However even that no name brand could be programmed to play different CD tracks as an alarm; with the NAXA model, programming the CD alarm means playing the first track only ALWAYS, so no getting up to a favorite CD track. Description of this unit did not of course mention this limitation. It also doesn't have a private listening option which should be a basic function to my mind. The instruction booklet with quite a few spelling mistakes in it, has at least one function mentioned that does not work at all and the door to the CD compartment which has to be pushed to open (no button)does not close without gentle easing. The unit came a tiny bit scratched and somewhat dusty, which I put down to having been returned after a short use. With all these negatives I still chose to keep it because of its very good sound quality, clear display of stations (in yellow, not red), easy buttons and fairly nice appearance overall. My decision to keep it had a lot to do also of course with the realization after reading many reviews, that buying an electronic product over the internet is like playing a roulette with no guarantee for quality or features present, plus money charged for the product's return. With workmanship seemingly getting worse all the time, and manufacturers and businesses benefiting, and worse, depending on people not bothering with the return of faulty goods, dishonest business thrives even with well known brand names. I strongly hope that consumers would soon have the ability to solve problems at a local level to deter dishonest manufacturers and businesses who should be punishable in the same way common thieves are.

Excellent Product
The item potion states that the item is Battery Powered Only. That should be changed to read: ACPowered with Battery Backup.

EXCELLENT RADIO AND CD PLAYER, EVEN THOUGH INSTRUCTIONS AND OPERATION ARE A SLIGHT CHALLENGE.
I am very pleased with the performance of this device, and the quality look and feel of it. Sound is excellent for its size. The digital tuner is sensitive, bringing in stations that our other radios don't, and digital tuning is much easier than the older analog type. Also, it has many options for playback, maybe too many, such as pre-selecting individual tracks on CD's so you can find them quickly. Not very useful. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the instructions were not well written and not complete, although I was finally able to figure out how to use the unit. Also, the control layout could probably be easier to use, especially if a few of the more exotic options were eliminated. But overall I am very pleased with this, and would recommend it to a friend to buy if they were looking for a radio and CD player for bedside use, with the time-to-sleep function for bedtime.

ALARM FUNCTION DOES NOT WORK - IN ANY MODE
I just opened up the box and tried to program the alarm function. It is either impossible to understand the instruction manual or it simply does not work. Both my wife and I have tried numerous times to set the alarm on the clock. The instructions are either incorrect, impossible to understand or it simply does not work. I will be trying to return this highly inferior product to Amazon and recommend that they do not sell any more of these units to unsuspecting customers. I would ask Amazon to contact me for information on how to return this product to them.

No Alarm volume control
We were looking for an alarm clock CD player that can have the alarm volume set. The alarm volume is set by the manufacturer, the user is unable to control it. This is the 4th alarm clock CD player we’ve tried with the same results, no control over the alarm volume.

Barely Adequate - Disappointing even at the low price.
It does wake you up to a CD track. however: 1) You cant choose which track, 2) If the CD runs out before an hour is up it does not loop, 3) You cant check the time and then lie in bed listening - as soon as you touch one button the alarm function stops, 4) If you use it as a CD player you have to remember to put it back into alarm mode, 5) the user interface is very clumsy 6) sound quality is only fair. My previous clock CD radio had none of the above problems. I would have paid double to get another one of those but CD clock radios are all being phased out in favor of MP3/iPOD units.
