So Far So Good!
I have hanging deer feeder and wanted to direct the deer corn in a particular direction, this does that. There are a couple features on this feeder that I noticed are new. An agitator to goes up into the feeder is nice. You can how much force the throw has (low, medium, high). I was able to set it to the medium setting so it wasn't throwing corn into the woods. I am giving it 4 stars because I cannot attest to it's longevity yet and w/Moultrie products it can be hit or miss; some of their stuff lasts a long time and some of it does not.

It is NOT a corn feeder!!!
So I read a lot of reviews about this Directional Fish feeder on here and I have to say for those of you that have given it a bad review- most of you are trying to feed Deer Corn from a Directional Fish Feeder designed to throw a rounded 1/4” Max protein pellet! Kernels of Corn are not round at all and are for the most part over 1/4” and will clog up-do I need to say more? So now for my review for this Directional fish feeder- I’m feeding a 3/16 round pellet for FISH and my particular unit is mounted on my dock and the feeder chute is about 7’ above the water. It will throw out to 25’ but the majority hits the water at 5-10’- throw for throw this is what I’m getting. Let’s face it, these are the bottom end of fish feeders so I purchased this for short term to then move on to a quality feeder. The timer is OK but this technology was around 20 yrs ago and it is lacking but it keeps time well so again for the price I think it is in the good category. These aren’t long term feeders but if I get a year out of it I’ll be more than pleased. The Auger/ spinner plate is plastic so that will only last so long. The wires for the battery are very short- they could have added 2” and they would have been great. The alligator clips for the battery are bottom end cheap so I replaced mine with crimped female connectors. It will run strong off of a sealed 4 amp hour battery with the solar panel ( so there is no need to purchase that cheap moultry 5 amp hr battery that won’t last long).I will add to this in another month or so! Do Not Purchase This If You Want To Use It To Throw Corn!!!

Make sure you use a 6v 5Ah battery
I tried to use a lantern battery which did not work. Once I bought a lead acid 6v 5Ah battery, it works very well. little tricky to program, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. Good product.

Used for throwing Corn with not so good results.
I wanted to see how this would work for throwing corn. The thought was that instead of having my feeder in the middle of the clearing, i would put it off to the side and directional throw corn into the clearing. This way the feeder was not obstructing any shots. Great idea right.... It didnt end well.. The directional feeder shoots the corn or food out a "shoot" which you point in the direction you want it to throw. The problem is the amount of food that come out of it.. I usually would spin 10 seconds, with this thing i had to spin 20 seconds twice to get roughly the same amount of corm out of it.. Because of this it jst kills the battery super fast and it is really loud for that much longer.. The sound it makes as the corn is being thrown sounds like plastic being banged on, if you look inside you will see the spinner mechanism inside is all plastic and as it spins the corn is banging around on the inside of the spinner trying to get to the hole to exit the unit. Its not a good sound. In the end I ended up pulling it back off my feeder as it didnt perform very well.. The distance it threw corn seemed to vary as well.. The good ol spinner is back on and works like a charm. I wish it would have worked better for what i was trying to do but it didnt.. I dont think i would recommend using it for throwing corn.

Improved
Greatly improved from the earlier model. Easy to install and seems to work well. It's a shame it costs as much as it does. Not many on the market so this is the one I got. The one I had before simply fell apart and was poorly made. Hopefully this one holds up better. Time will tell.

Let's hope they keep the Coons out!
I updated my review and rating on Aug-17-2020: I dropped the initial rating to one (1) star because after running these feeders in the field for 2+ weeks, we've come to find that none of the five (5) directional feeders we purchased and deployed work. We put a mixture of corn and micro-sized deer pellets in all our feeders and unless you manually spin the plate yourself, the motors aren't strong enough to activate the feeders after a short period of sitting idle. During testing, all we hear is a slight click sound, then nothing happens. After the feeders sit for a portion of the day, the weight of the feed puts too much pressure on the spin plate and motor, so they don't dispense any food. We're in the process of replacing all these new units with the traditional dispenser with the knowledge that the raccoons will rake havoc by stealing a portion of our feed. Initial Review: We just installed the directional feeder units to try and prevent the Georgia raccoons from stealing all of our feed from the standard Moultrie feeder system. We've tried shark teeth and bird spikes and cages, but nothing will keep them off our feeders. We won't know the results until we start getting back some fresh pictures. In terms of Mounting, if you plan to use these directional kits for older Moultrie feeder buckets, be advised, it will shoot your feed right into the back of one of the feeder legs based on how the lock bracket mounts on the older buckets. On the newer Moultrie buckets, it aims and mounts nicely between the legs. In terms of Performance, even on the newer Moultrie buckets, most of the feed only goes about 10-12 feet (even less when it hits the back of the leg). It also doesn't put out very much feed, so be sure to test your feed times and adjust your settings according to preference. TESTING is critical as on a few units, the feed agitator that sticks up into the bucket wouldn't start because of the downward pressure from a full bucket of feed. We had to manually spin the plate a few times to get them to eventually start on their own. If they stop the Coons and draw in some good deer, then my review would be in the 4-5 star range.
