Not what I'd expected
I purchased this card shuffler because my daughter and I love to play Uno but don't much like all the shuffling that's required after each game. The shuffling is required because a game of Uno results in a deck that's well-sorted by color (a bunch of red cards followed by a bunch of yellow cards, etc) and to break up this order for the next game, we have to shuffle by hand quite a bit. I thought that this device would be the answer to our troubles but it doesn't seem to have worked out that way. Unfortunately, the machine will only do a single shuffle at a time so if you need the deck shuffled many times (as we do), then you will have to load the machine, shuffle the cards, collect the cards, reload the machine, reshuffle the cards, etc, etc. several times. After practicing some, I found that each round required about 30 seconds so shuffling the deck seven times requires about 3 1/2 minutes of work (and, of course, it takes seven perfect shuffles to randomize a 52 card deck; larger decks such as for Uno will require more shuffles). Splitting the deck exactly in half before loading the card shuffler is also a must - if the cards are not exactly divided then you'll find that the first and last cards of the deck don't get shuffled at all. I found the instructions scanty - an allegedly three step procedure is printed on the side of the box but I needed about 10 minutes of experimentation before I could get the machine to go smoothly (in particular, the two halves of the card deck needed to be held just so in order to get the machine to shuffle them well). The machine itself is made of plastic which keeps the cost down (a major issue for me!) but unfortunately, it results in a cheap/flimsy sort of presentation. The machine is also far noisier than I expected - on par with a kitchen blender, I'd say. I suppose this is a case of getting exactly what I paid for... The device seems most appropriate for folks who are playing six deck games (where shuffling the cards manually must be QUITE tedious) and don't require much randomization of the cards. If you do need lots of randomization, you should be prepared to go through multiple 30 second cycles each time you shuffle up.

John N Hansen Six-Deck Auto Card Shuffler
When my friends and I decided to plan a Canasta game that requires one deck of cards more than the number of players (there are four of us), shuffling five decks with each hand (four hands for each game), we found we needed more than we could do over the course of an evening of play. What a wonderful shuffler this has been. So far there has been no drawbacks...this works for us perfectly. All I need to do is keep several batteries handy, in case we work it too hard.

Value
For the money this is a good product. It is not a high quality product but for under $25 you can't expect more. They have made some improvements in the past year but the weakest points still exist. We are on our third machine in a year and a half but play more than one game of Canasta per day. Will buy again.

Hand and Foot group
There are two vendors on Amazon for this product with slightly different pricing. A group of us have purchased half a dozen from the other vendor over a period of about 2 years - 2 failed and had to be replaced within the 30-day period, one failed a month later. Some work better than others - 2 still work very well. The picture on this one looked different and the reviews read better, so I ordered one thinking it was made by a different manufacturer. Wrong - it's the same manufacturer. So far, so good, but it's not been quite 30 days yet. We need to shuffle between 5 and 6 decks - the hints in the reviews have helped: Shuffle maybe 3 decks at a time rather than all 6 decks; tap the cards together so the edges are even; be sure the clear plastic plate is held firmly against the outside... Most of the hints are to help guide the cards so the leading edges are even and parallel. We'd still like to find a shuffler of better quality...but it sure beats shuffling 6 decks by hand!

No more disagreements
I got this because there was always conflict about how the cards were shuffled and the way they were bent. I thought there must be a machine like in Vegas that shuffled them automatically. No more problems with bent or bowed cards. The machine shuffles six decks rapidly although with a bit of noise. Once in a while a card or three will get sent down the side but you pull them and insert them in the middle of the pile and keep playing. When I gave it to my friends (it was a birthday present for Gil), his wife commented about how they had one in the clubhouse and they never used it because it jammed all the time. We've been playing canasta daily for over a month now and I keep expecting the batteries to wear out or the thing to jamb like I have read in other reviews, (& like Gil's wife said), but it hasn't done so yet. I am sure that it will wear out eventually because everything does, even us. Great product! I am buying another to take to Peru!

Quick and easy, but a little rough around the edges
This shuffler works quite well with my newly purchased plastic KEM cards. While the shuffler will sometimes put cards down along the sides of the shuffled deck, this isn't too much of a problem considering we are shuffling a full six decks. This has been a huge time saver in our games of progressive rummy where we use a lot of decks. It is definitely made out of cheap plastic, and I can see why many reviewers have complained that the small black clips that hold the deck tray in place have broken. So far, it is holding up well, but we treat it with tenderness. All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with it considering the great price.

Great shuffler for the price beats shuffling by hand
It sometimes at the end failes to catch the last card , however it eventually does within a few seconds. It works great for what it is. (Esp when youre playong games with large decks) it did not jam, works great and as expected. I recommend thos product. I do run the piles through three or four times but I'm just picky. Sure beats manually shuffling.

Okay
Good product the only real issue I had was when I first tried to use it one of the plastic pieces that hold the card on top was un attached and the shuffler would not shuffle cards
