Perfect for 3 yr old

Lots of fun in the ocean

My 4-year-old granddaughter used these in the ocean to "ride" waves, which really meant leaping into them. They're styrofoam with a thin fabric-like coating, so I was a little nervous about the durability. They made it through one weekend which is more than I can say for other toys.

Great product for beginner learning to swim

My granddaughter loves the print on the boards. She’s barely learning to swim to life vest and now with kickboard it’s easier for her to learn to kick her legs.

Fabric Quality Seems Very Flimsy & Likely to Tear - mfr. packaging damaged the surface

We just received this item and we were happy with the initial look of the boards, for the price. They are light-weight hard foam boards with brightly colored fabric - even brighter looking than the pictures. Each has it's own heat-sealed plastic wrapper from the manufacturer, and between the plastic and the board is the manufacturer / Melissa & Doug paper product label, which is also taped in place on the board with cellophane tape, presumably so the label stays in place prior to opening the package. Unfortunately, the adhesive on the tape nearly ripped a hole in the extremely light-weight 'fabric', which almost seems more like very thin, colored plastic than what I would think of as 'fabric'. It's almost like the chemicals in the tape adhesive were too much for the colored fabric, which is now dimpled and loose in an area perhaps 4 in. in diameter (see photos). As I very lightly brushed my finger across the dimpled area, a dirty streak appeared, as the residual adhesive seems to have grabbed any available substance from my finger. Not that my hand needed washed, if you understand what I mean. I also took a photo of the edge of the board, where you can see that the fabric actually is sewn on, so there must be some fabric-like quality to whatever the covering is made of. I would gauge it to be thinner than a regular piece of paper though. Anyway - not a huge deal, but it doesn't really bode well for the future wear & tear, either; so I'm hoping these will hold up to use and not fall apart or look like junk right away.

Melissa & Doug Swim Board

For toddlers to age 3 years old max. Does not hold the weight of children older or who are tall for their age. Difficult for children to hold onto the swimming board due to the width of the board, and thickness of the board. Handles would have been great, so children have something they can hold onto and grab! The swimming boards arrived with some bubbles on the cover over styrofoam, and the cover had open seams, it was defective. The Melissa & Doug swim boards could not hold the weight of a 5-year old child, the float sank into the water while trying to hold onto it swim board. Quite difficult for children to hold onto the swim board. I would recommend a buying a different swimming board with handles to grab onto.

Good but not great

There is a printed “lining” type material that covers the foam pad that feels super flimsy. I don’t let my kids really play with this because it seems like the smallest snag or tear of the lining will ruin the whole thing.

Cut the tag off, don't rip it off

My kids love these, very cute! My daughter ripped the tag off while I wasn't looking and now the material is coming off because the stitching ripped. Cut the tag off asap.

Fun for the kids

Love that there are twin in the pack. Kids really enjoy swimming with them. Quality is good. No issues at all with it.
