The most comfortable and versatile travel bag!
I own several Maxpedition bags, and this brand has been my go-to for tactical style products. The Maxpedition brand is at a price point that is at a premium as compared to other competing products. And while there are similar products that provide the same peace of mind in terms of durability, I pay the premium for the comfort and aesthetics of the Maxpedition products. I would have never thought of checking out Maxpedition for my travel-bag needs. However, the IRONCLOUD caught my attention, specifically the main compartment of the bag that has no dividers. Depending on the nature of my travels, I usually rely on a sturdy conventional backpack, or 22" wheeled totes, to quickly get in and out of airports. After reading other positive user reviews of the IRONCLOUD, I decided to purchase one. I purchased the IRONCLOUD in August 2020, in optimistic anticipation that normal air travel would resume in the succeeding months. It wasn't until December 2021 that I was able to put this bag to use. The first noticeable feature (both visually and function) was the backpack straps. I am used to seeing straight backpack straps, so it looked odd at first, in how the backpack straps were designed for this bag (see photo). However, after wearing the straps, I then understood the ergonomics of this design. The curvature of the straps provides a more natural contour to your body, which helps load distribution, ultimately resulting in a comfortable backpack experience. There are sternum straps, but I didn't have the need to use them, even when I loaded the backup up to 25 pounds. The bag also includes a compulsory laptop/tablet compartment, which is located on the front of the bag, making it easily accessible and not necessary to open the main compartment. The 4 compression straps around the bag help to reduce the footprint of the bag, which is especially helpful when trying to fit the bag into an overhead compartment. The bag also comes with a shoulder strap, which is stowed away in a side pocket. When using the shoulder straps, there is a pocket right underneath the base of the backpack straps in which you are able to stow away the backpack straps to streamline the bag and prevent it from getting snagged onto objects. While the bag can be shouldered, I prefer using it as a backpack as it provides the best load distribution and comfort. The bag does have Maxpedition's version of molle webbing, although I do not find this as useful given the purpose of this bag. Attaching additional pouches will increase its footprint, potentially making it harder to fit inside overhead compartments. Finally, the wide-open main compartment has the biggest appeal, and I find this bag to have better capacity than 22" wheeled totes, as the pull-handle of wheeled totes create an uneven surface inside the main compartment. Because the IRONCLOUD doesn't have a pull-handle, the main compartment is completely flat, making it easier to arrange and organize the contents without pull-handles being an obstruction running down the center of the compartment. The main compartment also includes a compression bib to hold down the contents. Since its first use, this bag will be replacing my 22" wheeled tote whenever I travel, as it is comfortable to wear even with a heavy load, and much easier for me to maneuver. While I speak highly of this bag, its utility will not apply to everyone. This is a backpack and/or shoulder bag, which means that you will have to carry the load. I prioritize greater mobility and security having the bag on my person as compared to rolling around a wheeled tote, at the expense of carrying the load. Unless you are willing to carry the load, this bag is not for everyone.

Nicest large carry-on duffel I've ever seen
There isn't much to dislike about this pack if you are looking for a maximum-sized carry-on duffel backpack. If you don't max it out, this one will make it into the 22x14x9 airline restrictions (that I usually have to meet anyway) but it can get bigger if you stuff it full and then you'd likely have to check it. It has a really cool compression bib inside that helps keep everything smaller and compressed down so that helps a great deal. It can also be compressed a little more with the outside straps. Here are a couple tips I've learned: I find those straps very useful for things like a jacket and a water bottle, too. Keep your little see-thru toiletry bag under one of those outer compression straps as well and you'll likely have an easier time getting through TSA. They seem to like that being prepared for them nicely in advance that way. If you are a somewhat minimalist packer/traveler like me, then you can easily work with this (48L?) pack for a week or two. It won't fit comfy under the seat in front of you for a longer trip (if you are 6' tall like me) but it just fits max in the little box by the gate and it fits the overheads easily so far for me. Of course, I haven't been near an airport for almost two months now due to the covid 19 but I plan to be using this puppy again soon. Its not the most attractive or sleek looking carry on duffel but I think they all stop looking that way after about the 35L size so that isn't really a fault of the Ironcloud. Mine is in the wolf gray color and it looks really sharp. It is typical Maxpedition toughness and quality everywhere you look so it should last for many years and handle just about anything. Great materials, zippers, zipper pulls and handles along with nice organization and easily protects my 13" Macbook and iPad, too. It looks like it could handle a 15 but I don't have one of those. Its got some modern attachment options, too, but I don't see the need to attach anything to the outside as its already a very large pack and there is plenty of organization already. The only thing I keep there is a pen honestly. Its not much but that little pen comes in handy when traveling. It also comes with an unbelievably nice shoulder strap that easily goes on or off if you want to carry it over one shoulder. The backpack straps can tuck out of the way if you want then, too. I much prefer the backpack carry method though but I like tucking in the straps for boarding purposes as it looks leaner and won't snag anything nearly as much carried that way when going through the plane aisles.

Excellent Bag - Crazy Price
When I saw this bag on sale for £75 I was skeptical at its authenticity, it usually retails for between £250-275. Having ordered it and it arriving I am convinced this is genuine and just a really good price. Do not delay in purchasing one if you are on the fence you will not be disappointed. Workmanship and quality of this bag, like all maxpedition products is second to none, when you take into account the price, this deal is insane. Plenty of room inside the bag and it has been thoughtfully designed. The straps and buckles made from seat belt material instantly remind you how hard-wearing this bag will be, the fact the rucksack yoke can be concealed and it can be slung with a shoulder strap like a satchel is also very useful. Don't think - just buy you won't regret.

Alcuni gravi difetti
Valigia formato "carry-on" convertibile zaino e tracolla, ottima cordura balistica come da standard Maxpedition e ottime cerniere.

Excellent, easy to pack, robust travel back (carry-on)
Plenty of space and no problems to use as carry on in the plane. Even fully packed easy to store. Useful is the laptop and tablet storage which unfortunately cannot be locked. Comfortable as a backpack, carried it around walking for 6 hours with no issues. In black it’s discreet and doesn’t make you stand out. Easy to pack and organize. Excellent product and with its robustness will hopefully be fulfilling its purpose for many missions and flights to come.
