Great product!

Great purchase! My wife bought this for me and it's built to last! I'm 6'2" 245lbs and there is plenty of room(width is 22 inches,inside of bar to inside). The welds are heavy-duty and this thing is all welded together in one piece-there's no assembly. The sleeves that hold the plates are machined(not smooth), so the collars(standard chrome squeeze-able type) won't slide at all and plates stay in place. Also, this bar weighs 45lbs, the same as my 7' Olympic bar and the same as my Standard Barbell plates. Lastly, sleeves are plenty long and will hold more 45lb standard-barbell plates then I can ever hoist!

Solid piece but the side plate was bent.

I ordered this one because it was the one with a stand so as to make loading the weights easier. The setup wasn’t too difficult but if anybody has grown accustomed to the IKEA level of instructions, please be ready to use a little grey cells. Unfortunately after I assembled everything (especially as one needs to hold some bars I. Place. I used some books to support), I found that one of the side plate was bent and I just couldn’t get it to fit. I had to remove the side bar, used a hammer to straighten up the side plate. In doing this, the color chipped and came off. I was able to straighten and get it to work. My laziness in returning the hex bar is the only reason I am going to keep using it, but I am not happy that I got a defective piece.

I like it, but may have an design mistake.

The media could not be loaded. I don't know if it's just mine, but small design mess up on the holes for self locking screws. On the picture and video you will be able to see. It comes with 8 square locking screws that only fit one way. U can see how mine fit.

Wasn’t disappointed

I was initially hesitant to buy this bar, given that there were only 4 reviews, and all came from folks who had gotten the bar for free. But the description of the bar and the accompanying photos were so impressive I decided to move forward, and am glad I did. It was delivered 3 days earlier than expected. The bar is a beautiful piece of equipment, if one can say that about a bar. Really solid, and the chrome really sparkles just like in the pictures. The only negative is that the bar came in a clear plastic bag - no box or bubble wrap. But despite the “packaging” the bar was in pristine condition. No scratches or rust.

Doesn't Fit My Olympic Plates

I bought this hex bar for my garage gym to be used with my Rogue Olympic Competition Bumper Plates or Promaxima Bumper plates but neither fit on the collars. Yet they are made for 2" diameter olympic plates. I just missed the return date, September 7th, today is the 21st. I hadn't set up my garage gym yet, nor needed to use them since I co-own a Performance Training Facility & usually workout there. I hope I can lightly sand the collars so the plates will fit. I've included a few pics. I have 2 solid metal hex bars at the gym but wanted this one for home to use for future clients & I could leave one side open for easier use. If I can fix it & use it I'll upgrade my review.

Good value

So far no issues. Not sure how it would hold up if you are able load around 350 or more or are rough on your equipment. But for me in my home gym it’s great.

Super Solid

This is a great bar. I ordered it for my son who is unable to go to the gym but loves working out at home. This is a great way to train deadlift strength in a way that is safer for his back. The bar is everything you would expect and the knurling is perfect, not too aggressive and feels nice on the hands but also grippy enough even it your hands get a little sweaty. One interesting thing about this bar is that while it hold standard 2” Olympic weights, it seems slightly snugger than our other 2” bars. We do have one errant weight that won’t go on it. (I’m sure the issue is with the weight and not the bar.) It makes for a very solid feel when lifting. Overall very happy with the “Marcy Olympic Hex Trap Bar HTB-6921, Chrome”.

It's A BEAST - Tough Stuff - I LIKE IT!

So far slapped 400 lbs on it and have used it for the norm and for farmer's walk. It is rock solid, 45lbs of the real deal. You can spend a heck of a lot more on one of these but why? This is truly a gnarly beast. The welds are unbroken or marred and the grips near perfect; not so sharp they hurt like some out there. Width is about what it should be at standard configuration. Nothing but good here.

Sturdy, durable and easy to set up.

The media could not be loaded. This bar was easy to set up all by myself. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. So far it looks well made and I’m having fun using it.

Stay away!

Too bad I lost the opportunity to return it. The build quality is subpar. One of the edges came bent making it impossible to fully assemble it. I’ll never deal with this brand again.
