Excellent - Just be sure this is what you need (7/16") shank size...
First, please note this is a 7/16" hex shank - not the 1/4" you normally find at big-box or hardware stores. This particular extension has very limited application and if you are just looking for a standard "hex bit" extender - this is not for you. If you are already aware of exactly what this is, read on for the review... I generally use Irwin for hex extensions because of the way the locking mechanism works - the MAGBIT is the only other brand I have found that is as good as the Irwin. With many other brands the release is accomplished by pulling the collar forward, which means your bit can fall out (in the wall!) when you pull back. I have also used models where the collar pulls back but is not as protected, so you may lose your bit on the way in. Magbit and Irwin have a very solid and protected collar, and it seems impossible (or as nearly so as could be achieved) to accidently release the bit. In terms of durability this is the only extension I have ever used that might outlast the Irwin. I'm not at all sure it will, but it is extremely solid and well built. If you need a 7/16" hex shank this ore the Irwin are the only ones to consider. I also like that the Magbit models come with an excellent "storage case" that I will continue to use unless and until it finally wears out. I don't know this it was intended to be a long-term storage case as it looks is if it was made to hang for retail sale packaging, but nonetheless it's good quality and I'm going to keep using it. Buy with confidence, as long as you are confident about the shank size and the length. A final note on shank sizes: Hex extenders come in three different shank sizes, so be sure you get correct one for your application. Selecting the correct extender can be especially tricky because the part numbers are getting confused on Amazon. Sometimes Amazon's title says one thing and the detail description says another. It is difficult to know for sure if you are looking at the 1/4" drive (the size most commonly encountered) or the next size up 3/8" which is found on larger ships auger and hole-saw bits, or the largest 7/16" size which is not commonly encountered but a lifesaver when you need it. This one is the largest 7/16" size.
