Works good, but I needed a replacement pin after 3 uses
I like it, but after 3 uses the little ball on the pin that goes into the foot pedal got smashed in and the pin fell out every few pitches. If you go to the manufacture site the replacement pin is $4 (ok), and the shipping is $4 (what??). If you try to buy 3 replacements pins the charge you $4 shipping for EACH pin!!!!!! Solution - went to the big orange store and bought a replacement pin for $3. It is called a "1/4 inch cotterless hitch pin". Better solution - i bought a 1/4 inch bolt for 29 cents and a nut for 17 cents and I just run it through the black clasp and foot pedal hole and spin the nut on just enough to hold the nut from falling off. When not in use i take the bolt out of the spring and just leave it in the foot pedal. Much more solid and won't lose the pin. Hope this helps someone because $8 for the pin is ridiculous when it broke after 3 uses.

Great machine!
I have several different pitching machines but I think this is the best bang for your buck. I play men’s senior softball and my teammates use this a lot. It’s easy to set up and once you learn how to load it, it is very accurate pitch after pitch allowing you to work at refining your swing. I’m sure it would be an outstanding tool for parents teaching their kids how to be a better hitter! It works for softball or baseball, slow or fast pitch!

Easy to Build and Use!
I purchased this for my son so he could practice hitting. My purchase was prompted after I tried pitching to him and was told, “Mom, I love you but you’re kind of bad at pitching.” ????????????‍♀️ I decided to save us both the headache and invested in this and two nets. (One so I don’t get my head knocked off if he zings it at me, and one so we don’t have to chase the balls down without a catcher.) Easy to build and adjust. So happy to have purchased this!

Mom’s best friend for practicing batting with youth
The media could not be loaded. I have an eight-year-old who plays baseball and I am a horrible pitcher so it’s frustrating for both of us to practice his batting. I Purchased this pitching machine and found it easy to set up. You have to play around a bit to find the right setting, but once you do, it provides a consistently good pitch. I definitely recommend using the spikes because it will shift if you do not. I know many of the reviews complain that this pitches is too slow, but I have it on one of the slower settings and it is perfect for my eight year old. This machine will probably be sufficient for him for a few years, but overall is still much better than if I tried to pitch to him. If you are looking for 60 or 70 mph pitches, this machine is not for you.

Yes, Pricey, but This thing really works!
Bought this last year for two reasons--training my daughter (11) to hit fastpitch softball and teaching my son (8) to play machine pitch baseball. It works great for both when set up properly. The first key to this machine for training is that it pitches consistently (left/right) where it is pointed. Once aligned across the plate (very easy to do), it doesn't throw inside or outside, so you don't have to worry about hitting your kid standing there at the plate. That in and of itself is worth the purchase price. The second is that the machine throws the same speed every time. This also is good since it is very tough to both get the ball across the plate and throw at the same speed again and again and again. The third key to this machine is that it requires NO POWER. The importance of that is hard to overstate. Most fields don't have power or a power cord set up for pitching. Also, you may not be allowed to play on the diamond, but rather in the outfield or some other part of the park. With this machine, that is no worry whatsoever. It's just a simple catapult with two cleats that anchor it to the ground. I have found that the height of the pitches varies a bit from pitch to pitch-(probably from the knees to the middle of the chest) you have to put the ball in the machine the same way each time, and use the same kind of balls, otherwise it moves around. The way you pull the release (slow or fast) also has an effect. Once you fling 5-10 balls, you should easily get the hang of it Adjusting the height can take a little work (5-10 min). There are three adjustments for the height and one for power. I usually dial in the amount of power I want, then muck with the two main height adjustments. The micro height adjustment seems not to do anything. Also, the two height adjustment screw knobs all have lock nuts. This is good, but it also is easy for these to fall on the ground and get lost. Once set, it is pretty good to go for a while. How does this compare with a $500-1000 machine (two wheels spinning, electric, etc...). Much better in my opinion. In the boys coach pitch league we were in, it seemed the "machine" could never be adjusted properly. Too high, too fast, too low, whatever. Usually, setting up the machine burned the first 15 minutes of each game. I think that we made it through one game without replacing the expensive machine with coaches by the end. We used the UPM 45 for one game and it went surprisingly smoothly. I know that some leagues elsewhere use only these machines. I also like the machine because you can see the mechanism as it throws, rather than having to eye a hole for the ball to poot out of as in a spinning wheel type machine. Also, it throws basically anything. Baseballs, softballs, even soccer balls. If you set the height way up, it can throw decent fly balls-good for those of us without 100s of softball throws in our arms each practice! With regards to speed, if you are considering the faster model I would say don't bother unless you are headed to high school. For baseballs, this thing can throw as hard or harder than 90% of the 10-11 year old boys out there. With regards to softball, I would say the speed on max is faster than 95% of the middle school girls fastpitch pitchers.

Excellent for Batting Practice and for Little League games
Lousville Slugger Pitching Machine is a consistently effective machine - if you're patient with tweaking it a bit. I bought this for my boys (ages 6 & 9) to help them with their batting. Once you get used to how to set the machine and switch between speeds you are good to go! Helpful Tips: 1) The way you place the ball in the machine can have an effect on it's delivery 2) There are lots of different baseballs on the market and each one (weight, material used, etc) is particular in how you set this machine. You will have to play around with the settings and distance of the machine when placing it. 3) The knob that the baseball is placed beside is one thing to turn to help you in elevating it or lowering it during your final adjustments. PROS: - consistent pitches with a little variety added in (around the strike zone) - easy to use once set up CONS: - putting it together takes a bit of patience - can be complicated in the beginning when setting it up Would recommend this machine as it can grow with your child (speed wise).

Good product for its price range
This product does exactly as described - allows you to pull lever to throw a ball with reasonably good accuracy (e.g. around 70% in strike zone in our experience). There are settings to allow you to vary the speed. It is handy in that it doesn't require a power source. Issues: 1 the calibration does take a bit of time to get it so that pitches go over the plate. 2 if you don't use the spikes to anchor it in the ground, the unit will shift slightly with each pitch and you will need to frequently recalibrate. 3 you do need an operator for this unit; if you want more convenience and greater accuracy, get a unit that runs off battery power - but that will be a lot more expensive.

Excellent! Builds confidence
Love this for my kids. They use the same one in their league. Easy to put together, accurate and let's then build confidence. I looked around locally, but best price was on Amazon for same product. I like that the kids can pitch to each other with accuracy and it's very easy for them. The settings can be changed as they progress.
