Very good 2-player card game with fast setup
It's a folding two-sided board, cards, and a decent set of instructions. That is all. Very quick to set up beyond the need to shuffle cards (when done with a match most people have all the cards in matching suits together, so you need heavy duty shuffling to truly randomize the deck) and then you are off again. Took my wife and I 15 minutes to get everything down to memory and it's not too complicated at all. Matches move fast, almost too fast without the "long version" that includes the purple suit and expedition. We really like this, it's perfect to pull out and have ready in no time and great if you want to take a fast break from another game like Onitama or Star Realms. Forgot to mention the artwork is fantastic, love every bit of it. Even the cards in the same suit have different art each. The cards feel a bit better quality of board stock than your standard cheapo cards at the dollar store, something around "casino quality" maybe. The playing board itself is thick cardboard with good artwork that tri-folds for storage. At the fold points it wants to stand up off the table a little, this will probably wear in over time or if we lay a book on it. At first I was worried when I read about the scoring system but it's not bad. If you don't have your phone with a calculator function then I suggest you get one of those $1 basic calculators at a nearby store to keep in the box with the game, as well as a notepad and pen. These will help you tally up the score at the end of each match. Will not ding the game for not including these because these are basic items that would've driven the price up and many people may already have them. This is just a minor suggestion and not needed. Overall I am surprised how much we all like this game and I am very happy with this purchase.

Fun and simple
Simple game but quite fun! Great quick game for 2. Easy to play with my wife who isn't a huge gamer. Definitely recommend it for a casual game

Our favorite 2 person game.
This is such a great game. Not too difficult, not to long. Lots of kicking yourself in the head for doing something stupid that you knew better of. Most importantly all cards should be this size. The oversized cards are just so satisfying shuffle and hold.

Amazing Quick 2 Player Game
I discovered this game on BGA and loved it so much, I bought the paper copy! It is easy to learn, and has a lot of fun elements. There is some luck of the draw, but also planning for the cards your opponent may have, and what may be in the deck, what to play, and what to discard. And each round takes about 10 minutes, so a full game (3 rounds) takes 30. If you're short on time, just play 1! The cards are a nice weight, and slightly larger than playing cards. The board doesn't lay fully flat when brand new, but I'm assuming it will settle down over time. And it's cool that it comes with a 6th color! We're sticking with 5 for now b/c we're new to the game, but I'm excited for the fun and challenge of learning the game play with the 6th color! Just use the chart on the last page of the rules to learn to score, and keep a calculator (phone) nearby.

Our favorite two person game!
My husband and I have very different tastes in board games, but we both love this one. It's easy to learn, we go back and forth on who wins, there is a good balance of luck and strategy, and it's just fun. It's also quick, so it's perfect to play 2-3 rounds when we get the itch and then put it away again. We love it so much that it has become our go-to "giftable" game for other couples as well, and we always get good feedback from them.

Outstanding gameplay, but card quality could be better
I unboxed and played my first round of Lost Cities tonight. The gameplay is absolutely fantastic. Easily one of the best two-play games printed. Why the three-star review? I am really disappointed in the card quality. Kosmos publishes The Crew --another outstanding card game -- and those standard-size cards are WAY better. These ones are thin and flimsy, and practically begging to be sleeved, which I really don't feel like doing. For an MSRP > $20, I think that's completely unacceptable. Edit: Added a star back because the gameplay is just too good. Really enjoying this.

Great Game but . . .
This game lives up to the hype. Yes, it's only a card game but it's a very good card game. My wife and I play at least one game per day; the only reason we give this 4 stars in the quality of the cards. The artwork is fantastic but the cards themselves are not the best quality. Ours are looking a little ragged after about 30 games - one card with a slight tear that do not recall happening. Not at all like a deck of playing cards. Too bad as we'd certainly pay more for quality cards. Great Game. Great Artwork. Fix the cards. After all . . . it's a card game.

A two player race to adventure and treasure.
Lost Cities is a great little two player game that captures the feeling of explorers rushing to see who can be the first to find treasure and adventure through a series of expeditions. The game itself is very simple to play yet it has depth to it as you rush to build your expeditions while at the same time holding back the cards you also don't want your rival to have and possibly give them the lead. The artwork on the cards is quite nice and it also tells of your adventure through the art itself. This version comes with the sixth set of cards (the purple deck) and while the main game with five decks and five locations is fine, I recommend that you play with all six just to give the game a bit more time to allow you to develop your expeditions. Although try both sides to see which suits your playstyle better. The scoring system is a little weird but don't let it out you off. Buy this game and happy exploring!
