I have a 5yr old that LOVES cherries but she always wants them pitted. She can easily use this and it’s a lot of fun.

GET THEM CHERRIES BEFORE THE BIRDS DO!

Our lone backyard cherry tree was affected by a fungus for a few years. Everything I had read indicated there was no hope and it was destined to be cut down. No rush for that in our mind being our only cherry tree. What's it gonna' hurt? We sprayed the tree in the spring a couple of times for a couple of years. Each year, seemed to improve. Last year we got some cherries off of it before the fungus took over. This year, there was no fungus. We got a lot of cherries that were smaller than we had previously when the tree was healthy. They tasted fine. With such a large amount I was not looking forward to pitting. Looked for a solution. Found it on Amazon and it looked like exactly what was needed. This worked great for my purposes and the smaller sized cherries. I controlled the feeding of cherries by releasing one at a time from a handful. Got pretty quick at it. One after another being pitted jumped into the bowl like paratroopers. At times had to pull up on the plunger to dislodge the cherry from the blade. The area where the cherry sits waiting for execution may gradually fill up with bits of cherry. You'll want to clean that out occasionally. Otherwise, cherry may not stop to be pitted but jump right into your pitted cherries. Which is why you'll want to empty that capture bowl often. You do not want to have to look through a bowl full of pitted cherries for one that isn't. You can thank me later. Machine is easy to use, easy to clean up. I still don”t look forward to pitting but this machine made the task at hand much quicker and easier. Get them cherries before the birds do!

What a timesaver!

After two other cherry pitters broke, we tried this one. Have used it several times already and it is a nice sturdy, easy to use pitter. The only thing I wish they would do is give directions in English. Yes, it had diagrams but it would have been way easier to put together with instructions you can understand. So much faster and easier to use this than the other ones!

Not perfect for montmorency cherries, but still a time saver

I bought this for use on montmorency cherries, since I have tree in my backyard and tend to get a lot of berries all at once. It removed the pits/seeds/stones from I'd say about 2/3 of the cherries I put through it. While far from perfect, it did make getting the seeds out of the missed ones easier once they were already pierced. I haven't found a better pitter yet for that small size of cherry, especially at that speed. The challenge with all pitters, including this one, is that the smaller cherry is not always perfectly centered, so sometimes it punches just to the side of the pit. Still, this pitter saved me a lot of time over doing them manually one by one and it appears to be pretty well made, hence my 4-star rating.

Lifechanging if you love fresh Cherries!

This little tool does an amazing job pitting cherries. I love fresh cherries in the summer and they are only available for a short time each year. The problem is it takes forever to pit them manually. So after accidently swallowing a few pits this year, I decided I needed to do some research and find a better solution. The Leifheit Cherry was a perfect solution. The device is small, but works very quickly to pit the cherries because of the spring loaded handle. I can quickly pit about 2/3 pounds in about a half hour or less. I carefully watched each cherry at first because I was nervous that I would have a miss fire and one of the cherries would not be pitted. I am happy to report that my cherries were all pitted properly. I am not sure why others experienced some cherries not pitting. I did mine relatively slow and fed the cherries through the machine one at a time, but after I got in continuous mode this was very fast. Overall, this is a great product and works extremely well.

It works! Sour cherries processed in a fraction of the time!

While it does let a number of cherries through with the pits intact, it wasn’t real difficult to fix the escapees! I used this to pit 20 pints of sour cherries I picked off my trees this year. I pitted a similar amount by hand last year and it took hours; this year it took less than 30 mins! Cherries are of such different shapes and sizes, I really don’t know of how they could improve the product to be fast and simple and do any better.

Excellent and fast to use

Worked great for my sour cherries. Occasionally there was a missed pit, but the throughput of fruit was wonderful, a great way to pit large batches. Reasonably easy to clean, very happy with this purchase.

Will need a supply of scrappers

It arrived cracked but was the end of cherry pitting time so I used it. Nice and quick but the rubber replaceable gasket got chewed up too soon!????

Best ever cherry pitter by a mile!

This pitter works like a dream. The cherries drop easily from the hopper to the ‘pitting chamber’ and a simple press on the spring-loaded plunger removes the pit in less than a second leaving the rest of the cherry intact together with its juice. The pit comes out clean. No need to mess around lining up the cherry in the ‘pitting chamber’ - provided the stalk is removed, the machine just does its job. Makes very short work of pitting a large punnet of cherries. I estimate about 30 cherries pitted in 60 seconds. The pits fall into an enclosed collection box below the ‘pitting chamber’ and you just place a bowl on the side of the machine to collect the perfectly pitted cherries. Enjoy!

This machine works very well!

I ordered two of these and both came very quickly. We had over 40 pounds of cherries to pit this machine worked so well we were able to do it with one machine in one day. My only complaint is not every cherry got pitted so you do have to check them before doing anything with them. If you have a lot of cherries to do I highly recommend this machine.

Easiest Cherry Pitting Season Ever!

After years of pitting our sour cherries by hand, this has made the job so much easier. Cut down the time required by about 60%, and nicely pitted cherries that are not crushed or torn compared to before.
