A nice alternative to heat lamps
We raise chicks almost every year, and part of that is always one of those old school heat lamps, 250 watts, and red red red. We recently discovered heating plates, which are a great alternative, and now, these heat only, no light bulbs. With less wattage used, but still cranking out heat, they're a nice option for smaller spaces where a heat plate isn't really feasible. They do take a little while to reach full temperature, but once there, your chicks will be warm and cozy!

Great for super cold nights in the coop
I ordered these name brand heat emitter bulbs for our sweet chickens who are outdoors even when the temperatures are in the single digits to below zero. We do not have a barn for them and I feel safer with this as opposed to a heat lamp because there is less risk of fire. Our chickens appreciate it, I am sure. And the price is good, too. Definitely recommend!

Cat Heater
Got this for our basement cat, and she loves it. Keeps her from tearing up the insulation on the heater ducts, too ????

Nice signal light feature
I use these types of bulbs all the time. I have an iguana and a tortoise. I live in an area where it gets especially during winter. The GE Lighting Ceramic Heat Emitter Bulbs, Animal Heat Lamp, No Light Emitted. The price of these is $27.25 for a pack of two, which is more expensive than a lot of the others that you can get out there. However, this has an additional feature that those do not have. These have a heat indicator light to let you know the light is turned on. This is a very helpful feature as these really don’t give off any light. They keep the tanks nice and warm, and my lizards and tortoise were nice and happy with these in their tanks. I personally really do like the feature with the heat indicator light as I used to have to put my hand on the lamp to figure out if the lamp was on or off (no more burned hands for me), which is a horrible way of doing it. This is a much safer way of doing it and is worth some extra money. I don’t know that it is really worth double the cost though.

Expensive but from a good brand; like the heat indicator feature
These bulbs are expensive, but they are from a solid brand. I use them for my hedgehog for the shoulder seasons and for winter. The bulbs feel well made, heat up well, and have a heat indicator feature to show that they are working properly without you having to put your hand near the bulb. I don't know how long they will last but will update if I have any issues. They are also packaged securely. One complaint - these are expensive, even considering they are 100w 2 packs. If you trust the GE brand they might be worth it - but if you shopped around you might be able to find an off brand for cheaper. A lot of the standard bulbs are less than 100w, it should be noted through (so they don't emit quite as much heat as these). Overall, I would recommend this product.

Simple, effective heat bulb with power indicator
These are your basic heat emitter bulbs, but include a small LED light that glows when power is provided to the bulb, taking away the guessing game if the lamp is on or not. They warm up fairly quickly and provide a soft, even heat. I measured my bulb and after 15 minutes, the surface 6" away registered an increase of 10°F in temperature (rising from 58.8° to 68.9° as measure by my IR thermometer). I don't know if that's useful info, but that's what i have. Since these are advertised as safe for humid/damp environments, they make good heat sources for lizards and other reptiles that may have higher than usual humidity requirements but also need a heat source. The handy indicator helps avoid burns from the "is it on or not" game and is a feature that should be on all these types of lamps.

Chicken coop
Being in Colorado, the temps can change drastically between the daily highs and lows - I do not normally heat my chicken coop in the winter due to fire hazards (among others) but there are maybe 4-8 days where we may have 1-3 consecutive days in the single digit and below temperatures. Theoretically, the chickens should be OK, but I feel bad if they have to acclimate all over again and will use them within within terracotta pots (think lampshade) within the coop for those bitter cold days/nights and have never had an issue. Happy to have been able to grab this for backup bulbs and to use when the others inevitably run out

Great for a cat house!
We have had the same cat living in our yard for many years. In all of those years both times were were able to grab her and bring her inside to live, she hissed, scratched, and bit her way back outside. So, we have a "cat house" for her (and any other strays that wander up) to sleep in during the colder months, and we keep it stocked with bedding. I wanted something to warm the little house up even more, but the light given off by the lights we use with our chickens was keeping them away. This little gadget has done the trick. It gives off enough heat to be cozy but not uncomfortable. I know this is a winner, because when I left for work this morning, our old kitty, as well as another were piled up in the cat house under the lamp looking snug as can be. I'm very happy with this bulb, and will be buying more when this one gives out.
