Great depending on what species this is for
I live in a relatively old NYC apartment and do not control my heat, which makes keep temperatures in my reptiles’ enclosures a bit tricky. I currently use this bulb for my gargoyle gecko. They don’t typically need heat as they thrive at room temp 70-80 degree range, and can go as low as 65 at night. This bulb creates a perfect gradient in the vertical enclosure that I have. At about 18inch at the very top of the enclosure, with this bulb, temperatures don’t exceed 80 and at the bottom the temperature is the same as my room, creating a gradient for perfect reptile thermoregulation, and does not negatively effect humidity either. If you have an animal that requires arid or desert-like heat or humidity, I would recommend a much stronger wattage bulb, especially if the bulb will be closer to for a more terrestrial animal. However, if you’re just looking for a little boost in heat to offset a cooler than desired room temp, this bulb works great, produces very little light, and lasts a good amount to time before they burn out.

Last a month
Heat lamp works. Lasted a month. Lamp is left on all day and night. It was great for our veiled chameleon l. Just bought a new one today.

Good heat, very dim "moonlight"
My Chihuahua gets cold very easily- especially her ears, so I use these over our bed, and her spot on the couch. The light is dim enough that it doesn't disturb our sleep, but visible enough that she can see where to find the heat. I used ceramic heaters, which I think last longer than glass bulbs, but without the visual indication, she doesn't know where to find the warm air. Probably nobody else uses heat bulbs for a dog, but I'm certain that reptiles also use visual cues to find a warm spot. BTW, my stupid cat also loves these. I use a clamping work lamp/brooder lamp covered with hardware cloth for safety, and the crazy cat likes to sit under it and press her head right up against the hardware cloth. Pretty sure she'd roast her forehead if not for the hardware cloth.

Worked great for 2 weeks
I was excited for these because I got them at a great price, much cheaper then I usually get them. But it's not even 3 weeks later and 2 of these bulbs have already burnt out and I only use them a couple of hours a night, occasionally. Very disappointing.

Mixed opinion
I ordered two of these to make sure I had an extra on hand One blew within 5 minutes of install. The other is going strong, heats well. My bearded dragon loves his light & the heat it gives off

Decent
It's great for its price, the heat is decent gives my baby turtle what he needs , and I'll come back to say how long it last me It does not last long I bought them on March 9 and the first bulb stopped working yesterday March 13

Do not get.
I would not recommend getting this. It burned out around 1-2weeks. The purple light is too bright and will disrupt your reptiles sleeping pattern. Got for my baby bearded dragon and he couldn’t sleep as properly as he should be able to because of the bright purple light, I recommend getting a heat ceramic bulb for them. Do not get this, in fact do not get coloured bulbs at all it will disrupt bearded dragons sleeping patterns.

Bad bulb
Bought this for our dragons home. It was good for about a week then it blew. Not sure if we'll purchase again because of our experience. Very disappointed in our purchase!!

Burnt out in 1 month
Extremely unsatisfied with this product. I have used it for no more then 300 hours over the course of 1.5 months and it but t out already. The ones in stores will cost abit more however they last way longer.

Short term use is an understatement
Purchased 1,arrived quickly but didn't work . Contacted Amazon they immediately shipped me a replacement. Worked for a week and a day, not impressed. I even bought a brand new hood to make sure everything would work too the correct capacity. Very disappointing. Won't be ordering again. Waste of time and money.
