I spent a great deal of time researching and comparing office chairs on-line and in furniture stores. I compared the chairs to the one I have been using for 18 years. I did not like anything I found in the stores. I did not wish to spend $1000 to replace my chair which was purchased at Havertys. At my age I do not need it to last another 18 years. So; based on the looks, price and reviews of this Laz-y-boy purchase it and had a professional assemble it for me. Low and Behold, the "Back Height" of the chair is at least 6 inches shorter than advertised. I like to lean back occasionally and relax, even take a nap sometimes. The height does not allow a 6 foot tall person like myself to do so. In order to send it back, I must disassemble it, haul it upstairs and put it on the porch. To make matters worse, I see it today listed for $70 cheaper! Oh well, my daughter liked it so she owns it and I bought the replacement at Havertys for $1000 and I will live happily-ever-after! Buyer Beware!

Great Quality for the Price (Which is Not Cheap)

I bought this to replace a very similar well built chair that after 11 years was about to give up the ghost (the leather had started to wear and split, and the padding was becoming flat). After reading the reviews for this chair (and what seemed like hundreds of other similar chairs, yikes!), I must say I was a bit hesitant to spend this much money for something that might arrive damaged, missing pieces or worse. I checked the LA-Z-Boy site, etc, and it is hard to beat Amazon's prices especially with Prime shipping. The price on Amazon was the best that I found. For me, thankfully, none of the horror stories in other reviews regarding shipping damage, missing pieces, etc. occurred, and our wonderful Amazon driver brought the box right to my front door. You will need a second person or a dolly to shift the box. While I do think the box could be sturdier to protect the leather surfaces (the cardboard is pretty soft), overall the box exterior (some minor scrapes and dents) and interior seemed to hold up well and the items were internally packed reasonably well. All the parts arrived and none were damaged. Yay! This does seem to be a Chinese (listed country of origin) knock-off with La-Z-Boy medallions attached, but nonetheless it seems well built, is sturdy and very comfortable. Make sure you follow the directions (it's nice the singular tool required is included) and take your time. I was able to assemble it by myself (I used my bed as an assembly table), but a second person would have been helpful particularly for the step when it is necessary to lift the assembled seat and back on to the "star" wheel assembly. The height and tilt levers function very well as does the tension knob. The chair is very comfortable with the kind of seat and back padding that I think will hold up well over time. The woodwork and finish are also very attractive, and the bonded leather seems a good quality. Also, the dimensions provided are accurate and the color is a darkish brown. I am very pleased and, so far, would purchase it again.

Comfortable, Easy to Assemble

Compared to my 1 year old leather very expensive Executive Chair, This one has way more support for lumbar, neck, and back. Seat is super padded and soft. 12 mm socket, 5 mm hex are included and are all that is needed. Assembly by my old man body took about 35 minutes all by myself, even after a few trips to the garage to get my personal tools. One helpful tip... to get the arm rests to line up to the holes, leave back rest bolts a little loose, tip the chair upside down and rest it against a sofa. Then side arms and back rest bolts can get the final tightening. So smooth, the wheels almost need a parking brake! Can't wait to sit in it all day. What a difference!

Very comfortable premium chair

I'm really happy with this premium office chair. It is very well made and very comfortable. Nice high back supports the head and neck. I can sit for hours without having bottom pain lol! The castors that come with it roll and pivot smoothly.

Deceptive information

As some other reviewers have indicated, the advertised seat back height of 31.75 inches is wildly inaccurate. The back of my chair is all of 26 inches tall. The padded headrest pushes against my shoulders causing me to lean forward uncomfortably. Another problem is with the tilt knob. The instructions say to turn the knob clockwise to loosen the tension. But facing the knob and turning it clockwise actually increases the tension instead. The directions are backward. And even the least amount of tension is still a bit too stiff for my liking. I thought about returning the chair, but the hassle of disassembling it, shipping it back to Amazon and then shopping locally for a chair to try out first that I most likely wouldn't even find anyway just isn't worth it. I have a small lumbar support pillow on order which I am hoping will make the chair at least a little more comfortable. Spending $527 on this overpriced chair was bad enough. Now I see where its price has dropped down to $448. It's going to take a long time, if ever, to get comfortable with this whole situation. At least I gave it two stars instead of just one because the chair itself does look good. Now if it only felt good.

To early to tell...

I bought the chair Feb 25th, and 2days later I started hear a clicking noise when ever I got up or back up and sometimes when I move around in the chair and I cant find out where it's coming from and so I figured it something we did putting it together other than that it seems like its gonna be a nice chair, I be back with a follow up in a few months...

Gas lift cylinder is defective

Happy with chair in general, exception being that the gas lift cylinder froze up at only partial lift stroke so now it just pops and crackles it the stoped position. Need vendor information as to specifications to aid with obtaining a new cylinder which will fit this chair. I only weigh 250 lbs so user weight should not be an issue since it is rated for400 lbs.
