So simple and it just works
My trike doesn't have enough weight for the 'pedal method' to tension-pop the 'missing link' back into place. So I bought these pliers, took 'em out of the bag, and 'pop!' into place in one second. It's amazing how a simple tool can make something so much easier.

Worth it !
Yes, you can lock it with that pedal trick. But this makes it much easier. And I know there are 2-in1 tools, but dedicated, separate tools for removal and locking work better

A somewhat useless tool.
KMC's missing link is not your friend and you should replace it with something better. You can connect the chain easily enough so this tool, in my experience, is not necessary. What is necessary is a tool to unlock the missing link. Both Park and KMC have the necessary tool. The KMC tool is a single purpose tool for unlocking the missing link while the Park tool is for both locking and unlocking the missing link. Frankly, I haven't seen a missing link that needed tools for installation. If you're into touring and there's a definite prospect of needing to break the chain for maintenance, either buy a difference chain or replace the KMC missing link with one that can be installed and removed without tools. The last thing a tourist needs to lug around is a useless tool.

Highly Recommended for New Chain Installation
Works Perfectly... and makes the final step of installing a new chain SO EASY! Way easier than expected! No fussing with regular needlenose pliers or other alternative methods. Gives a very positive "click" when engaged which inspires full confidence. Subsequent riding gave no indications for anything other than perfection. Plus it is a solid and well-made tool. Highly Recommended!

Not as essential as the opener tool but works just as well
After struggling to open my chain without tools I eventually ruined my missing link by trying needle nose pliers to open the link. I reluctantly bought the opener and closer tools (and a 6 pack of missing links). I will say the opener tool is more critical than the closer. Closing the chain is easy enough by applying tension to the chain. What can I say? Both the opener and closer worked perfectly. So simple but so perfect. Hopefully they will open and close enough chains over the years to justify the minor investment.

Not strictly needed but very handy
It's not very hard to snap a missing link into place usually but it can be a pain sometimes and you run a slight risk of damaging the link if you don't have it lined up exactly. This tool makes it very easy and with increased control basically eliminates the risk of messing your link up. Not a necessity but if you have room in the toolbox it's handy

It works fine for what it is
It works fine for what it is. It is annoying that KMC changed their links requiring me to buy this. You could open and close the older links without pliers. I won't be carrying these around on my bike so it sort of limits the usefulness of having the KMC Missing Link but for the purposes of reviewing the pliers themselves they work great.

Essential chain Bike tool
Easy to use and if good quality. A replacement for my older cheaper version. Definitely notice the difference in quality

Haven't used it yet but looks a solid enough build quality.

Good tool for the bike tool box.
It’s worth getting the right tool for the job, easy to use.

Essential for 11-speed chains.
When I had a 9-speed drivetrain, it was easy to re-engage the KMC chain links just using my fingers. Not so with an 11-speed chain. It took me several fiddly minutes with a couple of screwdrivers to get them to close. With the KMC closing pliers it took me just seconds. You could save yourself from buying two sets of pliers (one to close and the other to open) by buying the Park Tool MLP-1.2 Master Link Pliers, which do both jobs in one; however, because you have to pull the Park Tool pliers' arms apart to close the chain links, I recommend you buy the two complementary KMC pliers.
