Services Rendered...no doubt!
Very satisfied with the Customer Service offered by Kohler through their toll-free number to properly identify the parts required to repair an older model, single piece toilet. The parts came on time and the installation went quite well. It should be noted that there was a fair amount of time required to completely drain the reservoir and clean out all the old debris. Installation did require clever use of a flashlight to confirm the alignment of the flush valve assembly and engage the retention clips. But when all was said and done, the job was done. That said, one may be tempted to merely replace the flapper on an old toilet but if the flapper is going bad, you can bet that the gasket is as well. Don't mess around our you might end up with, well, a mess.

Pretty straightforward installation but YouTube is your friend
The product exactly met my expectations and fixed my running toilet. My wife is happy so I am happy. I'm glad I spent some time watching YouTube videos showing exactly what is involved, I like to know exactly how to approach a project before I begin so I don't waste time solving problems others have already solved. That said, when the videos mentioned that getting the thing to click into place on inside of the tank was a little tough, they understated things considerably. There isn't a whole lot of room in there for big hands and I was unable to get it to click into place until I used a long flat-blade screwdriver as a lever to coerce it into place. Start to finish, including time to utter some cuss words and go to the garage to get that lever was about 15 minutes.

Just buy Kohler GP84995KOHLER GENUINE PART GP84995 FLAPPER (HINGE)
Update 2018 - If you're buying this because the flapper valve is leaking just buy Kohler GP84995KOHLER GENUINE PART GP84995 FLAPPER (HINGE). The one that comes with this is still in it's retail packaging and not even attached to the main body. Much better design than the original part it replaced, which leaked profusely due to the flapper not being quite long enough to cover the water intake. Now I have to decide whether to go ahead and replace the other two we have or wait until they start leaking. Not the the easiest thing to put in, you have to push really hard forward and down to make sure you've cleared the bottom lip before trying to lever it forward and lock the clips. The old one was a lot easier to put back because the sponge rubber was pretty crushed but the new took me about 10 minutes of fiddling to get on. Now that it's on the leaks and phantom fills/flushes have finally stopped. One other tip is that if you suspect a leak look down the tall tube. The water should be absolutely still. If you're seeing periodic ripples you have a leak at the intake (smaller tube covered by the flapper).

FINALLY!!!!
I had an annoying "phantom flush" coming from my Kohler San Raphael for longer than I care to admit. The fill valve was replaced. TWICE. Several new flappers, a flush valve repair kit (seal). I FINALLY purchased this flush valve as a last resort. It looked complicated to install, so I had avoided purchasing and attempting the install. Mistake. it took less than 5 minutes to install, I didn't even need to drain the tank! The old one popped right off, and this one popped right on. SILENCE!!!!! People! Even novice plumbers like me can install this! It may be just what you need! Actually, now that I know how easy it is to install a completely new flush valve, I may, in the future, just replace the deteriorating foam gasket which was the culprit all along. How was I to know putting cleaning tabs in the tank would add to the deterioration of the gasket and be the root of the phantom flushing for months?!

You probably don't need this.....
I had the typical mysterious leaking toilet and thought buying this would be the best way to fix it. I have three of these toilets in my house, so I purchased three of these kits. That was an expensive mistake. Now I realize all I really needed was the front gasket (Kohler 84676). I had hesitated to purchase just the gasket because all the reviews weren't all stellar. Turns out, this flush valve service kit isn't pre-assembled, so I had to insert the enclosed gasket onto the kit myself anway (which was trivial). Hopefully you will learn from my experience and just purchase just the gasket (the same one included in this unassembled kit) instead. Oh, and you might as well pick up the flapper too when you buy the gasket (Kohler GP84995). Mine had shrunk considerably.
