Easily portable
I liked that I could take them with me for short work outs. Wish they had a heavier weight.

Well made and great to use
Oh, wow, these are great! As someone who's had a variety of exercise tools that have been little used, I can attest that these are ones I actually use and enjoy using. First of all, they're so comfortable in your hand or strapped to your ankle or arm. They're soft, flexible, made from excellent quality materials, and well designed. Even the velcro is the best I've ever seen. To create the kettlebell shape, you put the red and black side to the outside and run the strap through the handhold opening and slip it through the buckle, then press it to the velcro surface. You get a neat, sweet little kettlebell that's easy to pick up. As others have pointed out, this item can also be used other ways, including as a stretching tool, so you can make great use of the one set of kettlebells, and that prevents you from having to keep getting out additional equipment for other workout tasks. There are several advantages to these, one being that if you accidentally drop one on your foot, you're not going to have a broken bone. They're heavy--the sand inside them is iron sand--but they're not hard AND heavy like a regular kettlebell, which is made of cast iron. If you dropped a cast iron kettlebell on your foot, you would almost certainly have broken bones and a lot of pain. Another advantage is that because they're relatively small, you can just keep them all set up as kettlebells if you want and tuck them into a drawer, and they'll be ready to go whenever you are, whereas if you have real kettlebells you have to find a place to put them--probably not sitting out in your living room. Then there is the fact that although these are not cast iron kettlebells, you can still use regular kettlebell exercise videos with them. There's a good one for beginners on YouTube by chichihealthfitness that only takes 10 minutes and won't get you winded or sore, plus there are plenty more on the Internet for any level of fitness. For exercises where you're swinging the kettlebell, these soft ones are again safer, because a cast iron kettlebell can get a lot of momentum, and it can be hard to stop it before it hits some part of your body. I've had weights before that strap to the ankle or the wrist, and they did not compare with these. These are much more comfortable, and they stay where you put them, so they enhance your workout instead of getting in the way. I have medium-sized hands for a woman, and the handholds on these are big enough for me. However, as some reviewers have pointed out, the handholds may not be large enough for someone with larger hands. The opening on them compared to the opening on an iron kettlebell is considerably smaller, and an iron kettlebell's handhold stays permanently wide open. You may also have to reach more in exercises where you're passing the kettlebell from hand to hand around your body. That said, I would not part with these. I wasn't really sure if I would use them that much, based on my previous track record with various types of exercise equipment, most of which ended up being donated. I find these fun and easy to use, though, and like most women I really need some strength training, especially in my arms and hands. I think they're the perfect workout equipment to use for either regular or impromptu workouts. You don't need a machine, and you can use them anywhere--indoors, outdoors, or at the gym. As your workouts get easier, you can add more reps or lengthen the hold time, and if you like to work out to a video, you can switch out the videos you use too, so you can get a lot of mileage out of these. I just really think they're great.

Great idea and execution!
Soft kettlebells? Still rubbing painful bruises from the regular kind, I was curious. These are very, very cool. They're a hybrid set of weights; a cross between the Velcro bound wrist and ankle weights of yore and yes, a pair of kettlebells with accompanying handling ease. There's Velcro for use as kettlebells and to wrap around wrists and ankles for use as weights. The weight is in the form of sandbags. You can see them in the picture. There are five channels on each bell, each one holds one pound. Five pounds is a lot for a beginner, or for exercising body parts unaccustomed to strength training. It would be nice if there was a way to remove the sandbags so the weights could be adjusted (hint, hint). The handles are padded, and very comfortable to hold. There's plenty of room for even the largest hands. I don't know how they'll hold up to heavy use, but the opening is reinforced, and the construction seems solid. These are a great addition to the home gym. The nice thing about these is that they take up very little room, they provide much more bang for the buck both money and space wise than those cute little bar bells, and you're not likely to trip over these. Properly used kettlebells can produce fast results. There's online support for these, exercises and tips for best and safest use. I'm really happy to have these. They're convenient, effective, and very well designed. I'd give them five stars if there was a way to adjust the amount of weight, even by a pound or two.

Very versatile and best for people who will use all its functions
The Merrithew Soft Plus Kettlebells are versatile and give you four exercise tools in one: 5 pound kettlebells, back stretcher, ankle/wrist weights, and weight for sit ups/crunches. I like this item, but be warned that it's really only for those who will use all four functions, especially as weights for sit ups and crunches. The reason I say is that you can currently get 5 pound ankle weights and a separate of 2 5 pound kettle bells for about $4 less than this set. What do you get for the extra $4? Mostly the ability to use it around your neck when you do sit ups/crunches because this has handles on each side. Ankle weights do come with this feature - none that I could find - and you can't do this with a kettlebell. If you know you're going to use this for all its intended uses then it's a good deal. If not, it's probably cheaper to go with something that just does the one thing you want to do. For us this is a great product and we'll definitely use it in all the ways possible. Also, unlike another reviewer I don't think this is only intended for women. I wear XL large mens gloves and my hand easily fit through the loops.

Convenient and flexible for a variety of use
These kettle bells do the job they're supposed to do. At 5 pounds, with distributed weight in an adhesive velcro package, they offer flexibility as well as convenience. While they might be too little for some, for the ankle use I employ, they are sufficient to add impactful resistance to my walking routine. They don't chafe or aggravate my legs either, which is a big plus. Traditional kettle bells are a good bit more cumbersome and fairly inflexible, while these offer a lot of exercise and strength options. That's another plus. Lastly, the price point, in comparison to normal kettle bells purchased individually, is quite fair when you consider you are purchasing two. These will make a nice addition to one's home gym or can be tossed in a gym bag and taken with you, something you can't really do with traditional kettle bells.

Great addition to home gym
These are great little kettlebells, they store well and are versatile. I have used the Velcro strap to attach further weights to to increase my workout progression. Miles cheaper than normal kettlebells and softer on the hands etc. If they did heavier I would have another set.
