my favorite cooler to date
I would take this k2 cooler over yeti any day because yeti is over priced plastic brick that does its job but for 3xs the cost. This k2 is a brick too but 1/3 of cost. Has lasted all day in the sun in my car middle of summer in Las Vegas when its 115F out 130F+inside the car. Winter it could last all week no prob. Great padded carry strap better then a solid handle because this is a brick but no more than anything else. If only this had a drain plug because although it isnt a deal breaker it can be a pain to clean without a stretchy faucet in kitchen lol

Great Cooler, Great Price
I decided on the K2 due to price and reviews. I have not been disappointed. On my first use the soda and bottled water that I put in it were room temp and I used ice from my freezer (not much) vs a 10lb bag. At the end of a 10 hr day, the ice was melted but the remaining drinks were were ice cold. The K2 was in the back seat of my truck in 90+ degree Texas heat. I left the drinks and cold water in the K2 overnight and added few drinks and more ice the next morning. I repeated this process throughout the week. By Friday morning I still had ice cubes when I opened it up that morning to add a few drinks and more ice. The bottom line is... if you put chilled items in and the cooler is already cold, you will have the best results. Basically, you get out what you put in. I love my K2, and I would recommend it to anyone. I am writing this after 10pm on a Sunday, and I iced down drinks 2 days ago on Friday morning with very little ice. The ice is melted, but the drinks are ice cold. If you can get an Igloo or Coleman to do that you are a magician. Don't believe the negative reviews, save the money on buying the competition and buy this cooler.

Doesn't hold ice more than 2 days sitting in the car during summer months in Ga.
This was my first high end (sub zero) cooler purchase and I shopped around for many months and read many reviews on all the models available in the 20 Qt. (or smaller) size as I only wanted something to put in the floorboard of the car to keep drinks cold all day. I have purchased many of the cheap lunch box size coolers (hard case & soft case type) but none of them will hold ice in a car all day long during the summer months. So after a months of research in the retail stores and online I decided to purchase the K2 20 Qt. Cooler. I based my decision on price, customer reviews and and many you tube ice test videos. In summary it does not hold ice as well as I had hoped in hot summer months in Ga.! I was disappointed in the performance as it does not seem to hold ice any longer than a $30 Cabella Softside Cooler I had purchased just before the K2. It definitely out performs the cheap playmates & igloo coolers from any Dept. Store but I still have to repack it with ice every other day. That does beat the everyday routine I use to go through but it is not the 3 or 4 days (minimum ice retention ) I had hoped for. And just as an FYI, I am only putting 3 or 4 20 Oz. Drinks in at a time so it is not filled with drinks and very little ice and also it stays inside the car all day so it is not sitting in the sun all day. As far as quality goes it is very well built just doesn't have the performance I was hoping for.

I have a 64 quart yeti but I’ve been using this little guy more than I thought. Does a good job holding ice and it will fit 5 gallons of ice.

Don't hesitate! Give K2 a try!
LOVE this cooler! I did tons of cross comparison research online for a 20 quart cooler. There are several things that I really liked about the K2. First off, the price! Knowing I would be spending a lot of money on a cooler like this, I was happy to find that this cooler was significantly less expensive than others like it. Second, I love the strap. I've carried a similar cooler with a metal handle and when loaded to capacity, it was difficult to carry. The strap is comfy and makes carrying this cooler much easier. Third, the rubber closures are easy to open and close. My kids have no trouble getting into this cooler while on road trips as they often do to pass around cold drinks and snacks. The rubber grips on the bottom keep the cooler from sliding around as well. Fourth, I love the shape. It has a more square shape and is easy to handle. Plus, it just looks great and compact! And, finally, I love that this company is based in Louisiana and the products are made in the USA. As a family who road trips during the summer months and spend countless hours at the soccer fields, this compact cooler will get a lot of use!

It's a good little cooler - but still not as good as a Yet - so I returned it
It's not a bad cooler. It's for sure tougher than most and it's a great little size to haul around in your car at all time. I got it because I did not wanted to drop the money for a Yeti Roadie (20). I though I could find a cheaper, just as good, alternative. I have another Yeti cooler, and yes, they are expensive. But as soon as I took the K2 out of the box I could tell that no, this isn't as good as a Yeti. Right away I could tell the molding was of lower quality, which led me to question if the internal foam was of lower quality too. The strap didn't bother me, and in a way I like it better because it'es easier to just remove. With the roadie you get a metal strap that you can not take off. Not a big problem but I wish I had the option. The other thing I noticed was that the seal isn't as tight as with the Yeti's. Again, not that big a deal, but at this price range I do expect a bit more. Lastly I tested the lid to see if it could handle a rough time. And that's when I sense that the plastic molding here isn't as tough as the Yeti's. So, I decided to return it. For $40 more and a coupon at REI I was able to get the Roadie and I was much happier with that purchase. Again, not a bad cooler for the money. But I am ok with spending a little more to get something even better.
