Works as designed
This product has been around for forever with just about every business having one outside there doors. When I scrolled through the reviews I found the very first one is about a guy complaining about how it caught on fire and this product is junk. I myself have seen these catch on fire a few times. When I say "catch on fire" I mean it starts smoking pretty bad. What usually happens is someone will use it as a trash can and shove a napkin or some candy wrappers inside then the next person throwing his cigarettes' inside won't flick the cherry and before you know it you got a fire. Just stay calm, pour some water in it, empty it and you're good to go. You need some common sense to use this properly.

Pretty good ashtray
Hubby and I were looking for something for the backyard since we smoke outside and not in the house. We didn't want a little ashtray that we would have to dump all of the time, so we bought this. For the most part its what we were looking for, just wish it was a little easier to get the lid off and on when cleaning it out..

Kick your old butt can in the butt!
We had a butt can, so to speak, on the front porch and it always looked nasty. I have seen these things in front of businesses and thought if I could get one smaller than the ones you see on storefronts for the porch that would be awesome. And here it is. After doing some research on the sizes I picked this one and it looks fantastic on the porch. Way better than a butt can. It seems to extinguish the cigarette pretty fast too so you don't have that smell lingering. Inside there is a tin style bucket that catches the butts as you throw them in. You can add some sand around the base if you want to add some extra weight but so far I haven't needed to do that. It seems pretty heavy enough for the winds we get here. It opens simply by turning the large wing nut style screw, pop off the top and take the can out and dump it. Easy. I would watch getting water in the can as it is tin and it will rust fast. After cleaning your can out just make sure its dry before adding it back into the receptacle. I see someone gave it a 1 star because it was too small. Folks, the dimensions are in the description. Thats a pretty lame review if you didnt read the description. Its pretty good size just a bit smaller than the ones you see in front of stores...but who would really want that huge thing on their porch? IDK maybe someone. Anyway check out the dimensions and see if its right for you...its been perfect for us. Happy Shopping!!

Works great! Buy it for work or home. Smokers & non smokers will appreciate it
This was better than expected. I gave 4 stars cuz I've only had it for 2 months. I bought it for where I work. Me and another co worker are the only smokers now. And even as a smoker the ashtrays get nasty & smell. This was even better than what I thought it would be. I haven't weighted it. I did put it in a corner. Between myself the other girl and multiple clients it works very well. It's been a month since I emptied it. Was trying to gage how often it would need emptied. It somewhat had a tad of smoke coming out but only because many people happened to be using it at exactly the same time. Otherwise it never does. The non smokers are thrilled that we got it. It's very handy as sometimes I need to put a cig out quickly & get back inside. No worries about it festering in an ashtray until the cig burns itself out. Just drop & go! Very pleased!

Perfect so you dont smoke inside
I didnt want to smoke inside my house, and I didnt want to be "that person" who flung cigarette butts across the yard. But I was also lazy and didnt want to constantly be chasing after an ashtray. So what to do? GET THIS. It helps me keep my yard cigarette butt free, but me not driven back indoors to smoke.

Worth every penny and more...
Smaller than I anticipated but perfect for my home. Living in the desert, a fire hazard is right out my front door in the desert landscaping. Normally I just disengage the hots from my cig and let it die out in the rocks but with it being closer to summer I needed a safer way to dispose of my butts. The ones you see outside businesses are taller and probably have double the base, the metal bucket inside fits snug so you can't add in much weight to weigh it down unless you use sand. I picked up some rocks from our yard and filled the bottom to make it a little more durable against rough winds. This is ideal for homes with smokers that go outdoors. Easy to empty and unlike glass ashtrays and the cylinder ones filled with sand you don't have to clean it often or swift through sand to pick out butts. Personally, I love it.. I hated throwing my butts in the outside garbage can or having to wait until I found a trash bag to throw them in. The design is sleek and with the dark color it blends in well with the landscape so it's not an eye-sore.

Good product that needs some slight design refinements
I wish the mechanism to separate the top from the bottom were easier than having to unscrew for 30+ seconds because the bolt is so long. And I wish the "mouth" where you insert your cigarrette butts into were easier to find in the dark. I have to fumble around in the dark to find the tiny hole to dump my cig into. Maybe if the hole protruded out of the head more, then it would be easier to find. As is, it produdes inward and so my fingers do a lot of walking over the face just to locate the hole in the dark. I hope some of this made sense. Good product that needs some slight design refinements. Oh, and this won't get rid of all the smoke smell. That smell still gets real heavy when the wind is just right (this is outside). But it does smell WAY LESS than me just dumping my cigs onto the floor.

Makes your outdoor space look nicer
I bought this for the smokers I live with and they are very happy with it and actually thanked me for it! Only thing is that it bends easily at the bottom where you take it apart, but that is easy to ignore for now as it still works.

This is supposed to be a commercial ashtray. It’s a tiny version. Bought one similar from Wayfair; it’s much larger.

Great purchase
No more nasty cigarette butts blowing around my deck or getting rained on. Looks so much nicer and doesn't need to be emptied often, maybe once a month. Very happy with this purchase.

Not standard size, but still great
Keep in mind when purchasing that these are not the standard large size, which is why they are probably much cheaper. Otherwise no complaints, very happy with all 3 purchased.
