Provides thumb support
I needed an immobile for my thumb to calm sprained ligaments. I will say that this item did the job. Several weeks later I have gone from quite painful to almost normal. Overall, happy, BUT. The unit runs large and I probably should have a medium. It is a little too big but my wrist size called for large by the book. That said, it works ok. It is a bit awkward to put on but you figure it out. The metal guard is very supportive. I need to remove the brace occasionally to rest my skin. You can actually remove the thumb brace and keep the unit on, that is useful. The Velcro thumb strap starts to disintegrate with thread strands constantly fraying. I have switched to a different product and a bit happier. Still, for the money this is a good product.

Just OK
This immobilizer is just OK. I ordered this for tendonitis I got from nursing my daughter, I wanted a second brace, so I could wash and alternate between the two. The support is not very giving to re-form. My doctor had to even work pretty hard at it, and he had stated when I told him that it wasn't very comfortable, that the support, or metal whatever, pushes right on the tendon, whereas my other one, supported above and below, making it much more comfortable. I ended up just buying another one, like my first, and hardly used this one.

Work well for me but some caveats for potential buyers.
I gave it 5 stars because it works for me, but there are some things you should know. I bought two, because of injury induced tendonitis in both thumbs. I found the curvature was a good fit for me; YMMV of course. My wrist was just under 8 inches around - close to the max for the medium - and I went with that despite my natural inclination to go up a size. Good decision. With use they tend to stretch a little, so don't be tempted to level up! The Velcro is very strong, which means you sometimes have to pull with authority to untangle the straps when they fold over. This is exacerbated when needing to put two on. But if you have the strength, it is not a problem. The strap that secures your thumb in place is a bit long. You could easily trim it, or what I did is to pinch part of it so the end of the strap coincides with the end of the Velcro. The doc said I should be better in 6-8 weeks if I wear the splints. That is at least three more weeks from now, and I have to say that they hurt a lot less. No way to know how they would have felt had I not splinted them, but I think it is fair to say they are helping - I am typing this review on an iPhone, after all!

I don't really like the metal splint
I don't really like the metal splint, and it isn't removable. They say the splint can be molded to your shape, but it's hard steel and I can't get it to budge.

Works moderately well but could be better
This is an okay thumb immobilizer. I feel like the piece of steel in the thumb should be a little bit longer to actually immobilize the thumb. Otherwise, the material is pretty good. It can get a bit scratchy if not put on carefully to make sure all the velcro is lined up.

Great for DeQuervain's Tendonitis
This is a great thumb/wrist immobilizer when recovering from DeQuervain's Tendonitis. It is low profile and effective. It doesn't scream "I'm disabled" at all! I can work and use a computer with limited restrictions. I had tried a larger splint, but this is the one I'd recommend. The larger one felt claustrophobic to the point I'd take it off in the middle of the night. Not this one! It is as comfortable and effective as you can find, in my opinion. There is a lot of velcro, which is noisy when taking it off, but that also helps it stay secure while in use. I'm well on my way to recovery and will probably avoid a steroid injection--this splint really helped me in the process (3 months post injury and still recovering. I wore this immobilizer for about 6 weeks. Now using soft splint as needed, and exercising). Can put in washing machine on 'gentle' and air dry. Highly recommend.

It does immobilize your thumb.
I need to adjust the metal bar that runs along the outside of the thumb. The bar is thick and I will have to ask my husband to help me. It does immobilize the thumb, which is great when my arthritis is acting up.

Not for wearing while doing fine work
This is too thick and clunky. It's useful, but gets in the way when I do fine knitting or crocheting. It's ok for other coarser work like sawing or hammering.

Awesome Product. Helped immobilize my injured thumb so it could recover. It is stronger than the regular thumb brace you find at the store, so if you want added mobility, get a different one. If you want to really immobilize the thumb, then get this brace.

Good support
Provides good support for thumb. Velcro closure around wrist is a little picky on the wrist but not too bad. Satisfied with purchase and would recommend.

Exactly what I needed for deQuervain problems (Thumb-wrist tendons) Super comfortable - don't even feel it after a while.
