Good Feeder
I purchased this as part of my "sand filter upgrade" that I did on my Intex metal-frame above ground pool. I grew up with a pool so I've worked with their care and feeding over the years. I'm not a pool professional but I'm not an amateur either. I think the key here, before you buy this, is that you have to understand that the chlorinator takes some special considerations or it will be a problem. As for this feeder, I have two minor complaints; First, there is no check valve so you need a valve between it and the pool or else you will get a backflow of pool water when you open it up. (Or, I guess you could mount it above the water line but that is going to require extra head on your pump) Hayward feeders usually have a check valve on the return stem that helps keep that from happening. I wish this feeder had it. Secondly, the threads were a bit loose which required an extra dose of Teflon tape. They are a generous 1.5" which may be a result of the molding process... plastic parts aren't known for their accuracy... but extra tape solved the issue. It would have been better if they were tight rather than loose and I question if there is any taper at all to them. As for some of the other complaints I see on here... I've had no problems with the adjustment knob. I've found it responsive and solid. I've had no leaks other than the initial ones around the pipe threads that easily fixed with tape. And the lid assembly is at least as solid as the Hayward feeders I've used in the past. Really, I have no complaints with the unit and wonder what the ones claiming it to be trash received. As for the special treatment an automatic feeder needs, you have to know that the device works as a vacuum system. The lid has a seal in it and a mechanism to keep that system regulated. If you twist the lid on cross-threaded or otherwise damage the lid, the whole thing stops working. You also have to drain it in the winter and make sure the drain plug stays out and the lid off. The thing is plastic. If there is water in it and it freezes, it will break. You also have to check the chlorine levels in your pool. I'm amazed at the people who blame a green pool on the chlorine feeder, the skimmer, or the pump. The system doesn't take care of itself... it needs you to watch over it. Check your levels daily. If your Chlorine is a no-read, I suggest opening the feeder and seeing if you have any tabs left. The thing doesn't make chlorine... you need to add it. I have a 4' deep, 12' round Intex pool and I'll consume most of a bucket of 3" tabs this summer. Which brings me to the final point... the device is directional. If you install it backwards you won't get chlorine fed into your pool. But you would pick that up in your daily testing. Overall, I have nothing but those two minor complaints to make. I found the unit solid, works well, and was actually better than I expected given the price. If you are putting in a 30 year permanent install, spend a few extra bucks and get a Hayward. But if you are on a budget or don't need it to last 30 years, this is a great feeder.

Good for a while
This was a decent purchase. I liked this because it's just like the more expensive units. The only and it's a major one about this unit. If it gets stuck on there it's extremely hard to open. I had to take the thing off and now it's leaking. I will just purchase the more expensive ones due to have a tool to open.

Functional but not quality
Buy the extra gasket because it leaks like a sieve with only one gasket. It's light and functional but not top quality. Might last 2 or 3 summers.

All pieces included, works well.
All the pieces necessary for a fresh install of this off-line chlorinator are included. The two pieces of tubing are a generous 5-6 feet each. Two saddle clamps, two saddle fittings with rubber gaskets, four compression nuts, one inlet and one outlet adapter, and even a roll of teflon tape! Of course, the body and lid of the chlorinator, with the lid o-ring, are also present. This is a one-for-one replacement of the Hayward CL220. One thing to watch out for, though, is that the new HydroTools nuts/saddle fittings are /just an eeny weeny bit/ smaller than the Hayward CL220 ones. This means that if you screw in a new compression nut onto the old CL220 fitting, or an old CL220 nut onto a new fitting, it will leak. So don't be lazy, and put in the new saddle fitting, if you'll be connecting the new tubing/nut to it. The new HydroTools tubing is also just a tiny bit narrower, but if you have a good piece of old CL220 tubing, you can still reuse it, it'll just be a tight fit getting the compression nut onto the tubing. One other thing to watch out for is connecting the inlet/outlet adapters to the body of the chlorinator. The instructions say 'wrap three loops of teflon around the thread', but I will tell you right now, three loops is not enough, and it will leak! So don't be stingy with the teflon tape, and put maybe 7-8 wraps of the tape around the male threads of the adapters before screwing them into the body. Further, when screwing the inlet/outlet adapters in, do /not/ screw them in all the way, until the nut head touches the body. The threaded part of the adapter is longer than the threaded wall of the body, so leave a couple of millimiters between the adapter nut and the body for optimal seal. For everything else, just follow the clearly-written instructions. (Including the 'hand-tighten' bit for the compression nuts! Unless you have really weak hands, do not use any tools to tightnen the compression nuts, so you don't mess up the threading and the seal.) Besides these caveats, everything works nice, and you can't beat the price! Giving it 4 stars, because they would have saved me a lot of trouble if they'd made all the fittings exactly the same size as the Hayward CL220. But now that y'all know the tricks, you should have an easy going of it. :)

Trop de chlore dans ma piscine même si le chlorinateur est fermé.
Facile a installer.

Do not waste your money!
The media could not be loaded. Used it so far pretty good, also very easy to open. Just fallow instruction ????????????????????????. After using this summer, this unit is falling apart the locking taps are breaking, has to glue them back on, the tab inside the Dispenser is coming apart, not worth it. Inferior product!. Update do not waste your money ???????????????????????????? Well found a place for this product where it belongs, in the garbage . Check the feeder to find a crack in the lid, really. Where the clamp is that is where the crack is, funny thing about it is every season all my parts are stored inside except for the sand filter.

Just as shown
Just as shown. Larger than I thought it would be. Seems to be very close to my old one that needed replacing yet this one was way better priced. Going to install it today. Delivery wasn't as fast as it should have been when I paid for expedited service, but all in all it was fine.

Not bad but not the best
Nice price for a chlorinator and a good size. My only complaint is the flat washer to prevent leaks isn’t the greatest. I’m so glad I can do find ways to make it work so I did.

Holds a lot of pucks
Worked well for the summer. When I got it, somehow I lost the o-ring seal, and a replacement seal is very expensive. So make sure you don't lose it. It really worked well for our 18' above ground pool over the summer. It really made my life easier. Fill it with pucks, set it, test the pool once a week, and enjoy. The basket in this has enough space for 2-3 weeks worth of big pucks. Definitely easier...of course next year I'm going to install a saltwater system.
