Read carefully the limits of this before you try to hoist a big o e. Otherwise, easy to set up, clean and stow away later. Perfect for white tail deer

Ever deer hunter needs one
Great purchase for our deer lease (that’s what we call the land we hunt in Texas) I huge a deer from the ground up by myself, keep in mine texas deer are typically not as heavy as northern deer. I do think these hoist would work anywhere.

Got this for my dad. It’s. Limb saver!
Dad had shoulder surgery and during hunting I had to bear hug the deer to hang it since I was by my self. Got these so I would never have to have my face inside a deer carcass again and my dad single handily pulled it up and locked it. I got two of these now.

Amazon's packaging is horrible
The product is great however the reason Amazon has so many products returned is because they lack ABSOLUTELY ANY intelligence on how to pack items for shipping.

I really like this gambrel. I just put it up in the garage yesterday. It's made in CHINA, just FYI. It comes with plenty of rope,50+ ft. The locking "hook" seem hokie to me. Not sure if i'll trust that as my lock. So I just tied a length of it off to a anchor point on my foundation of the garage. Extra security, I guess. Last thing I want to do is drop my dinner on the floor. Says it's rated for 1500lbs,IDK about that. It is however surprisingly strong! I haven't had a deer on it of course, but I did hoist my "DEAR" wife as she held onto it. My turn: I tied the rope off and did hang from it and actually did a pull up on it. I'm 240lbs+/- so if it holds me, I know it'll sling my venison in the air while I do my work. Overall I'm happy with it. The metal seems solid for deer/big game hoisting purposes. I hope I get to use it soon ,if ya know what I'm sayin'. Happy hunting and be safe, ethical and respectful in and outta the woods. Good luck from one hunter to another. *I've noticed lots of people online asking how to hang these or what others do. I won't put up my method here but will do so in the comments for anyone curious or interested in a example of how you could hang it. [In a finished garage; finished ceiling.] That way if you don't need this info you can skip it. Thanks, be safe and good luck in the woods. UPDATE: I've used this to hang a Doe. As I've stated above, I did a pull-up on this and I know I weigh more than my dressed out Doe. So zero issues holding up the deer. I really like this and it was very sturdy as I worked on my processing. You know how much pulling you do while skinning. It did great and made processing my own deer enjoyable and pretty simple. Very rewarding experience and I'm proud to be doing this myself. No complaints with this gambrel.

Works as expected
The locking mechanics is poor but manageable. It locks well, but unlocking is tricky. All in all it works. I have had no problems.

Good for the money
Well made heavy duty gambrel, works well, would recommend using gloves when lifting carcasses as rope is very thin and can burn your hands if your not careful. But I have recommended this product twice as good value for money.

It is working as advertised. I needed 12 to ...
It is working as advertised. I needed 12 to 14' height instead of 9', so instead of having the rope going 5 times up and down, I modified the path to get 3 times instead of 5 and it met my needs. I am using it to lift various items (like tires, boxes, patio furniture) on a mezzanine in my garage. I would have preferred a system pressing on the rope instead of squeezing it to hold the weight, but since I am not using it daily it is working well for me and the rope hasn't been showing any signs of wear and tear.
