Perfect for adding a monitor
Only have one Displayport for a single monitor on my PC. This allowed me to easily add a 2nd monitor. Works great but the cost is crazy high for this relatively basic splitter. I feel like at this price it should come with free pizza for a year.

Works as advertised
It works for my 2 monitor setup since my laptop has dp 1.2 output, this was the least expensive option, good deal

Out of the box functional but not with two 4K monitors unless setting at 30FPS
I am using a new Dell Tower PC with Windows 10. EVERY DRIVER AND THE SYSTEM BIOS WAS UPDATED. I have a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 installed by Dell. It has a single DisplayPort, a single HDMI port, and a single DVI port. I have two identical LG 27" 4K MONITORS that have been tested to 3840 X 2160 individually using this same PC. I attached the MONOPRICE 2 Port DisplayPort 1.2 to DisplayPort Multi-Stream Transport (MST) Hub (Product Number 21972) using two different sets of identical DisplayPort 1.4 cables. I switched the cables, I switched the monitors, I used the monitors individually to confirm that they were still able to achieve 3840 X 2160. I just double checked to make sure my system BIOS, and drivers were up to date. Using this product my second monitor was never able to achieve a resolution greater than 2560 X 1600. I gave up on the idea of this product giving me two functional 4K Monitors. I now use a single DisplayPort Cable and a single HDMI Cable in the NVIDIA graphics card. I sent an email to the manufacturer for assistance. I will see if they contact me with a solution or are willing to accept the return of the product. Updated 1/2/2021. I have decreased my refresh rate to 30 fps and now I have two functional 4K monitors using the Display Port MST. I did not see any communication from Monoprice. I was ready to return the product and thought that I would give it one last try. I am using this computer for business so I would much rather have the two monitors with identical resolution than asymmetrical resolution and a higher refresh rate. (By the way the DisplayPort cable attached to this Hub is 16" long. I could not find this information out anywhere in the description.)

Not Good for a KVM Setup
I like the metal housing of this hub. The rigidity added by the housing will make this very durable. The primary cable is thick and well made. I didn't have any problem with this unit when it was plugged directly between my computer and my monitors. I had an issue installing this with a KVM. The setup was Computer > KVM > Hub > Monitors. When used inline with the KVM, the monitors just didn't work. If I used the KVM by itself, the monitor works fine, and if I use the hub by itself, it is fine. If I use the devices together, there is no signal. Since I know the KVM works and works with Displayport 1.2, the only thing that makes sense to me is that there are just too many connections in my setup and because of that, too much loss. I ordered a powered MST hub, so maybe the amplification will clear up the issue. Aside from that compatibility issue, this device seems to work just fine.

Works as advertised!
I was nervous about buying this because I didn’t know if it was going to work or not. I didn’t know if it was going to overheat, etc. It worked right out of the box perfectly.

Won't give you 5 screens with a Geforce 1080 GTX
I knew it was a gamble. Here is my configuration: I have two GTX1080 in SLI mode with 3 same size screens (for Surround view) and one projector. That makes 4 displays connected. I thought that with 2 video cards I could get up to 8 displays but not at all, when coupled, the cards max out at 4 displays. I wanted to use an Oculus Rift S in addition so I thought that this MST display port may help but it did not. When I plugged the Oculus with one of my DP screens, it still only saw one. So I returned it for a refund and that was it. Of course, I could simply remove the SLI coupler and get my real 8 screens but then I lose the benefits of SLI. I do not want to knock this product down though because I was mistaken. I am just sharing my experience in case other people may have the same idea as mine. So it will allow you duplicate screens and spanning too but not allow you to use an Oculus Rift S with a regular screen. In conclusion: 3 stars.

When three monitors are the magic number
We needed to connect a third monitor to our work set up. The computer in put only provided two inputs. This device solved the problem effortlessly. All three monitors function as intended, and we have no complaints.

Good MST Hub
I've had this for a few weeks now, at least. Connected to this are a 2560x1440 monitor (60 hz) and a 4K monitor (30hz). This could show two monitors at 60hz, but, given the splitting of the bandwidth, 4K is at 30hz. I do find one minor issue with this setup, but I don't know if it's my dock, the hub, the monitors, Windows 10, or some combination thereof: sometimes, I have to unplug/plug it in for the hub-connected monitors to come back when resuming from sleep. At worst, restarting the computer does the trick. But it's always ready to go when first turning on the computer and doesn't flicker or "cut out" when in use. Again, this issue is relatively minor and I don't know that the hub is the cause. It might not be. But, regardless, the hub works well, and for hours at a time, too.

It works well for MST supported display adapters
I was surprised how well it is working for adding another monitor - I have 2 DP ports on my display card and was looking to add a 3rd monitor. Since the card supported MST, I figured I give this a try and it worked. I have a total of 3 monitors (2 - 1080p monitors connected through the hub) connected to the PC. There is the occasional time when the PC reboots and is unable to find the monitor, but usually a reconnection of the hub fixes the problem.

Disappointed
Spent too much money for it to not work. Tried to work with the company as they would offer me a refund. They sent me many many many emails to try this and then try that. So complicated. It worked perfectly for the first 10ish months. Then stopped working. I think a wire broke inside but the company was not willing to replace it. Too much money wasted.

RECEIVED USED ITEM AND DOES'NT SUPPORT 4K!
Received a used one. The plastic was already ripped when I opened it. The product was clearly used because it has some scratches on it and it doesn't support 4k or even 2k resolution, only FHD or 1080p.
