This is a safety mount. You need an identical pair in each package to mount, say, a picture. The hook facing up should be on the wall and the hook facing down should be on the picture frame. When locked together, the thickness is only two metal plates. I doubt if it's best for pictures because you cannot adjust the level of the picture once the screws are in. So the hangers have to be decently mounted on the correct position. Maybe drilling pilot holes help. Also the picture frame have to have enough thick wood for the screws. If one pair of hanger at the middle of the picture or mirror is not enough, mounting two hanger pairs on each corner is harder to be precise. The screw holes on the hangers are almost at the edges of a stud. So I screw one side of the hanger to the middle of a stud. The other side is mounted on the drywall. I'm tired of getting these things from the local hardware store. Even though they are in stock on the website, you can't find them. If they are not profitable you cannot find them on your own. If I order online and then pickup, a few times I got call from the store ask if I want to substitute the things there were in stock after all.

I like the idea of this product

I like the idea of this product. I was concerned it would be difficult to hang each piece perfectly, but that wasn't the issue (they are pretty forgiving). Because the brackets give you some room for error, the small chalkboard I was hanging wasn't as stable and firm against the wall as I would have liked. It moved slightly side to side and I was afraid someone might walk by and knock it to the floor. I ended up add Command velcro strips to make sure the chalkboard didn't budge. Additionally, I did not use the included screws to mount the one piece to the wall. They seemed too short and I was concerned the weight of my small chalkboard would not be supported. Overall, I'm happy with the results and the board is mounted about 2mm off the wall, which is flush enough for me.

Where's the Beef?

Heavy glass mirror mounting? Heck yeah! Beefy and strong. I substituted the screws that came with it for rated screws so I could safely mount a #40 glass mirror. Keep in mind that you have to measure the hole spacing PERFECTLY when mounting a picture of mirror, there is NO adjustment to be done after they are all screwed into the frame and wall.

For us folks on the shaky West Coast, these are GREAT for mounting pictures on walls because, as long as you put them up level, they stay level even after the ground shakes a bit. Very solid construction and great design allows multiple methods for mounting. I wish Amazon carried a few different sizes of these (this item is a "Large" size), but I can't find a listing for medium or small sizes from the listing descriptions.

Great for what we needed

I hung a window with a wreath attached, and a mini pallet with hooks attached for coffee mugs using these and they are holding very well. I originally bought these for my window project, and was having a very hard time finding anything that would mount it flush to the wall and be sturdy enough to trust it over a staircase. These are PERFECT! They are so easy to hang and very secure.
