Had to do some sanding to get things to fit, but it's good when installed
If you are buying this, chances are you don't really have a choice, and have to use the part that fits the filter, so reading reviews won't change your buying decision. My experience with installing this valve was a bit frustrating though. I found that I had to sand the OD of the fittings that I installed in this valve assembly, otherwise I don't think I would have been able to get them to go in even a half inch. I only sanded the couplers enough to dry fit them about half an inch into the sockets without getting stuck, which seemed to be about the same amount I could install them into similar PVC couplers. In my case I was doing a replacement with limited space, so I had to be sure I could get the reducers and other parts installed most of the way into the sockets on the valve or things would not align. I know that the glue will help greatly to get tight parts to go together, since it melts some of the plastic, however even with that benefit, I could not be sure. The sockets were however much tighter than the couplers for the same pipe when I compared them. If installing one of these valves, I'd recommend carefully planning how you will get things together, and in what order. I also used some PVC unions to join the valve with the rest of the plumbing, so it can be removed when it eventually fails, or the pipes connected to it fail. Since I was using PVC parts with this valve, I used ABS to PVC green transition cement to join them. On the valve I replaced, the coupler had cracked (and been repaired), but multiple leaks around the valve forced me to replace the valve, however the valve had been in service for about 25 years, so it had a good run. The operation of the valve is pretty good, no complaints, and there are some design features which help with assembly, but I'd like to have seen the sockets have a hair more ID to make the assembly easier.

Exactly what I ordered & needed
Good solid product & no issues. I purchased from an online pool company same product, which I had to return. I had to pay to ship it back AND they charged me a restocking fee. Just should have gotten it here first!

Solid construction. Works extremely well. Switched from standard top mounted multi port valve with old sand filter to this side mounted valve with a new sand filter. Easier to use although this valve does not allow you to rinse after back washing. Not certain how I feel about that but the filter seems to function well without rinsing. I am not certain why but having the stem pulled up for filtering and pushed down for backwahing seems counterintuitive. I would strongly suggest connecting unions directly to the valve instead of the pipe. That way if you make a mistake glueing or need to change piping later you can disconnect the unions and free the valve.

Much less expensive than the pool store...
It's the exact same part as the pool store in the same box. It's a pain to install but that's just the nature of the part and how it plumbs into the rest of the system. My filter was the older spherical 311SX.
