Great for RV
I looked at this kind of coffee maker for a while before buying this one. My wife and I live in a travel trailer full-time going from New Bern, NC to Palm Springs, CA over about 6 months. I had some pretty specific requirements, that many people also share, but a few specific to using this in an RV. 1. Size - This thing looks and sounds like it hardly takes any space on your counter. Not quite. It's really not that much smaller than a typical coffee pot. Definitely a lot bigger than the K-brand tiny ones. I think the other features this one offers make it little extra size worth it though. 2. Flavor - I'm not a person who understands 100 different nuances of coffee. I like coffee, I drink it black and I like it to taste good. This pot hits all my requirements. It makes a decently dark cup of coffee and it does it consistently. 3. Brew Amount - A lot of this type of coffee maker have a button you hit to brew one size of cup or another size. Reading reviews of them, the amounts that come out vary a lot, meaning they brew on a timer. That seems stupid to me. This coffee maker has a reservoir you put water in. You hit the button, it brews until it runs out of water. If your favorite coffee cup is 6oz and you want to have a 6oz cup of coffee, you put 6oz of water in and you get a 6oz cup of coffee back. My favorite cups happen to be in the 15-16oz range. The reservoir has a 14 oz display on the side of it so I end up over-filling it. And guess what? It brews until it runs out of water, even if it's a little too much for the reservoir. Novel concept, I now. 4. Power Draw - Being in an RV you have a big plug you hook up when you park. In a house you tend to take for granted that you can just plug shit in and it works. In an RV, you have 30 amps. Period. (at least in my RV. I know, some are 50 amp. Good for you if you have a 50 amp. I don't and the problem is similar.) Anyway, this coffee maker draws about 9 amps when it's heating the water up. That's almost 1/3 of my total. So, when it's 30 degrees outside and I'm running the electric fireplace, making a cup of coffee and the wife tries to heat something up in the microwave, the surge suppressor kicks off because the three together draw too much power. Anyway, it only take about 2 or 3 minutes to brew a cup, so if you can manage to not use the microwave for 2 or 3 minutes, it's a non-issue. 5. Versatility - You can use K-Cups, some other sort of cup, or use the little basket that lets you use ground coffee. I have never tried and of the cups because, well, I'm cheap and I don't like all the trash that goes along with the little cups. The basket that comes with this works great. The only thing I'm not super crazy about is cleaning it. 6. Cleaning - Since I use the little fresh coffee basket, I have to take it out, bang it on the side of the trash can and rinse it out every time I want to make a cup of coffee. Really not a big deal. I'm just lazy that way. At the end of the day, it's just what I have to do to get the cup of coffee I want, so it's really not a deal breaker. Just something to keep in mind in case it is for you. All in all, this is a great coffee maker. Highly recommend it if you're anything like me.

PERFECT IN SO MANY WAYS!
All the practical reasons I really like this Hamilton Beach coffee maker. (I first bought the Sboly, which made me appreciate this model all the more-my Solby review is at the bottom.) ABOUT THE HAMILTON BEACH -The coffee ground basket is solid plastic with screening at the bottom. This makes the basket very firm to handle and easy to empty hot coffee grounds. It has a rigid lip that you can knock against the edge of the trash can without getting the coffee grounds all over the floor. The lid is hinged so there is no folding plastic parts, and snaps on and off if you want to do that. -There are two cup levels to choose from although you would have to make the coffee twice to fill the larger cup. When I do want to fill a larger cup, I just use the cup I usually use and pour it into the bigger cup. The container it sits on to raise the cup is rigid and stores the second k-cup basket, nice! -You pour in the water you need up to 14oz, which is perfect for the 16oz cup. It is also a little shorter and fits under my cabinet door when open-personal thing but turned out to be very relevant in my situation ;-) -The reservoir lid is hinged - pop it open, pop it closed. -So, I forgot to run some plain water through before I started using it and there was a weird taste in the first two cups of coffee. I ran water with a little white vinegar through about 2 times then plain water about 2 times to get rid of the odd taste. Now it is perfect. AS COMPARED TO THE SBOLY What I did not like about the Sboly (it may seem odd to include this part but all those bells and whistles sounded really good in theory but were not so great in practice.): -The Sboly splattered, and I was using the appropriate level for my cup size. My cup is of standard size. We looked at it to make sure nothing was clogged. My husband said the pressure of the hot water was too great for the design, therefore spitting instead of dripping. -The Sboly's level adjustment tray seemed sort of flimsy. Even when I set my average weight coffee cup on the tray empty, it gave a little, slanting downward. It didn't bode well for the future. -I did not like the basket they provide to use with coffee grounds. When you open the top, the crease where the lid folds down appeared white, like folded plastic does just before it breaks. The whole thing is screened, which sounds good in theory, but makes it difficult to handle when you are trying to change the grounds, especially when they are hot. The top of the lid is larger than the bottom, and it started to fall open when I would go to remove it from the coffee maker. It is also a challenge to find a way to hold it when you are trying to dump the contents in the trash can and you cannot knock it against the side of the trash can to get the grounds out because it is not rigid and there is no lip to catch on the edge of the can. Again, the lid being bigger than the body makes this process awkward. Overall, flimsy and difficult to manage. -The Sboly's preset cup sizes sounded good in theory but were really a pain. My husband uses 16oz to-go paper cups that obviously hold more than 12oz so I could not fill his cup as much as I would like. Also, if you are making 12oz cups of coffee, a 30oz reservoir is kind of weird, why not 36oz, so you fill it every other time instead of every time. Again, sounded good in theory. The lid to the reservoir is not hinged and it took me using both hands to get it in the right spot when putting it back on; I kept dropping it in the reservoir when I used one hand :-) -Finally, with the top open, it was just a little too tall to open the cabinet door above it where I keep the coffee. I also had to find a place to store the k-cup basket where I wouldn't forget. Another funky shaped doo-dad with no obvious place to call home. -So I returned the Sbolyy, and got my refund no problem. I hope this helps somebody!

Good coffee maker for one cup at a time
The HB one-cup coffee maker works fine with K-cups. We've only used it for ground coffee once, and that was with a k-cup so I don't know how it would work with the supplied ground-coffee cup. It makes good coffee with Costco k-cup brand. Regular setting comes out dark, so have never tried the "bold" setting on first cup. However, if I had more water to minimum level and run it again on "bold" I can get another cup from one k-cup.

Simple is Best 4 1/2 Stars
I bought this Hamilton Beach 49900 single cup coffemaker to replace a Keurig that I think was way over priced and not durable. This coffeemaker is so much better because of the versatility of how you brew. It operates just like a typical drip coffeemaker. What I love about this over the Keurig is the easy to pour water reservoir with visible volume indicator. Also, it's easy to cheat another half a cup of warm-up coffee off the K-cup by adding more water ;-) Keurig will not let you do this. The taste using my favorite K-cups are just as good as I've ever had. The brew time is quick. There's one thing I took one star off for (actually make that a 1/2). There's a simple plastic removable platform that lets you make room to brew into a taller car cup. This is a missed opportunity here. It would be better if this was a container to catch spillage from the coffee maker. Sometimes, if the the cup is slightly misaligned, coffee will leak onto the platform then run off onto the counter. You'd be surprised how often this can happen when you're barely awake in the morning! (Hence the need for coffee.)

Super solid and reliable single coffee maker.
Love it, includes a reusable basket for your own coffee or pods. I use the reusable as I love to grind my own coffee beans, get the fresh coffee without destroying the planet!! The storage bin/under cup holder for filter stowing, genius design! Well built, price is decent and it makes the unit I returned by Keuig mini brand look & performs like junk.

Good value
After opening a box I found a front label was misaligned. That's an indication of not proper quality control. Didn't want to return and fixed myself. Apart of that the coffee maker is good.

Works well. Our second purchase.
Easy to use - makes good coffee. This is a second unit, we've had one at our other place for over a year. No problems.

Best of the lot
Lasted longer and was easier to use than any other brand I have tried, I tried Keurig but went back to this one after it expired. Price point is a plus.
